      Hi forum!

I have been hanging out around the forums quite a bit in the past few weeks, and I have noticed that the most common issues are caused because people have not set up their bot(s) correctly. Therefore, I have chosen to write an extensive guide on how to setup Honorbuddy. Furthermore, I will explain in detail what the different terms mean, so you will not have to ask for help every time you want to use another profile or CC. The parts written in italic are explanations of terms. These parts are very basic and may be skipped by many users.
This guide is written so that everyone may start botting and continue doing so without having to ask for help from everyone. This covers pretty much everything, and explains along the way.

      Table of contents
      1. Downloading Honorbuddy
      2. Finding and downloading a profile
      3. Finding and downloading a CustomClass [OPTIONAL]
      4. Configuring Honorbuddy

      1. Downloading Honorbuddy
First, you should make a folder to store the bot in. This folder will be called your main HB folder, as it is where the program is going to be. So go HERE and download the newest version of the bot. Extract it to your HB main folder. Your folder should now look like this:

      2. Finding and downloading a profile
      What is a profile?

A profile is a XML-file that tells your bot where to go, what to kill, what to avoid, which quests to do, where to repair, where the mailbox is etc. etc. To sum it up: It is what gives your bot all the information, but not how to actually do it (the CC does that – but we’ll get to that in section 3).

Now that you have downloaded HB, you need a profile. I suggest that you make a new folder in your HB main folder called “Profiles”, which is where you will be storing them. Profiles for HB can be found HERE. As you can see, there are different categories (1-60, 60-70, 70-80, Farming etc. etc.). Locate and download one that you want to use. Now that you have downloaded your profile, you are ready for the next step.

      3. Finding and downloading a CustomClass [OPTIONAL]
      What is a CustomClass?

A CustomClass – or CC, as it is usually called – is what tells the bot what to do in certain situations. It is what tells your bot when to eat, when to drink, when to fight, and most importantly – HOW to fight. Your whole rotation is in the CC, which is why a good CC is very important while botting. If you look in the CustomClasses folder (located in your main HB folder), you can see that there are already CCs included for every class. These CCs require no setup or configuration whatsoever, as they are made so even the biggest noob can use the bot. If you just want the bot to work, you can skip this step, as you can just use the default CCs. The included CCs are very basic, though, so I recommend everyone to download a more advanced CC.

Now you are ready to download a CC. All the CCs are located HERE. For this example, I will be using the priest CC called Isis made by raphus. After you have downloaded the CC of your choice, go to the CustomClasses folder in your HB main folder. Here, create a folder called the name of your CC. Then extract the CC from your downloaded file into the newly created folder. As I am using Isis, my folder structure should look like this: Honorbuddy main > CustomClasses > Isis > Priest.cs. (See picture below). I also recommend that you delete the default CC of your class when you install a new one. When you have downloaded your CC correctly, you are ready to proceed to the next step.

      4. Configuring Honorbuddy

Now open up WoW and log into the character, you want to bot. You may never open the bot without being fully logged on to your WoW character. When you are logged in, open up Honorbuddy (TIP: Always run HB as an administrator, as this will prevent you from encountering some common bugs). When you have opened up HB, put in your account information (this is the login that you used in the SHOP – not the forum login). If you experience any authentication issue, see THIS thread for information on how to resolve it.

Now go to your HB main folder and create a new folder called “Meshes”.
After that is done, go to the ‘General Settings’ tab – located in the top of your HB window. Press the ‘Select Mesh Folder’ button, and navigate to the folder we just created. The bot will automatically download the mesh-files as you need them. The folder you just made is where all of your mesh-files will be saved to.

      What is a mesh?

A mesh is a file. These files are the bot’s way of knowing how the world looks. For an example, if a bot needs to go from A to B, and there is a wall in the middle. Without the meshes, it would just try going straight to B, as it would not know the wall was there. But now it goes around it, as the files tells it that it is not possible to go in a straight line.

Now you need to tell HB what food/drink to use, when it needs to do so. You also need to specify the name of your mount (Note: HB does NOT support flying mounts. Input the name of your fastest ground mount) as well as tell HB whether to use mounts or not. I always check the “Use Experimental Path Following” and “Kill Between Hotspots” unless otherwise specified in the profile.

Now it is time to configure your CC. Not all CCs are configurable. To do so, simply press the “CC Configuration” button, and an interface should pop up. The more advanced CCs are very customizable, and it is recommended that you know your class a bit before you start changing too much. Also note that some CCs have no default configuration, and require you to configure everything.

At last, go to the ‘Status’ tab in the top of the HB window. Chose the bot you want to use from the drop-down menu.

What do the different bots do?
      - Combat/Heal Bot: This will let you steer your character, but take over when you enter combat.
      - Grind bot: This will run around and kill the mobs specified in the profile.
      - PvP bot: This will queue and do Battlegrounds for your character.
      - Mixed bot: This will enter the queue for Battlegrounds, and then kill mobs while waiting to join.
      - RaF – Combat Assist: This is used if you want to bot more characters together at the same time (I will not come into the configuration of this, as I have never RaF’ed myself).
      - Questing bot: This will quest for you. (You must use a profile made for questing specifically before the bot will do quests. Also, the questing is only in Beta as of now, and you should expect to encounter bugs).

Now click the “Load Profile” and navigate to the profile of your choice. Click the “Bot Settings” and configure what you want the bot to do. Below is a picture of my "Bot Settings" and configuration under the "General Settings" tab.

      Capture3.jpg

Now you should just be able to click “Start” and it should start botting. Note that your character has to be rather close to where it is supposed to bot – if you start it in Dalaran, it won’t be able to bot in Stranglethorn Vale! :D

NOTE: If you wish to start making your own profiles, a lot of great information is to be found in the BuddyWiki profile section HERE.

NOTE: If you encounter any problems, do the following:
      1. Search the forums - you are rarely the first person to experience a problem, and in the majority of cases, you can find a solution to your issue without having to post (which also floods the forum).

      2. If you can not find a solution through searching, make a new thread in the appropriate forum. Be as descriptive of your issue as possible (Level, Class, Zone, Faction, Profile etc. etc.) And always: REMEMBER TO ATTACH A LOG. I can not express clearly enough how important a log is, as it contains information everyone needs to be able to help you out. Many people will even refuse to help you if you have not attached a log. FPSware has made a guide (with pictures) on how to attach a log. This can be found HERE.

NOTE: Also, if you find that WoW takes up too much of your CPU and makes it hard to do anything else on the computer, you can check out my other thread. It shows a nifty little command that can reduce the CPU usage my WoW. The guide is found HERE.

I hope this helped ease you into the world of botting!
Please +rep me by clicking the grey star under my name if it did!
And feedback is very welcome - please reply to this thread if you have any, whether it be positive or negative!

      add:

      .net 3.5
.net 4.0 (not required yet, but good to download)
run hb2 as admin or turn off UAC

I would also recommend sticking in there how to upload a log properly as many ppl can't seem to

And grats to making this, I was contemplating it, but I am working on some C# atm

UnknowNGameR, how about contributing it to the Wiki instead? :D

Just to be clear... the Wiki is not "mine", its a Community effort as all Wikis are.

      cheers,
      CJ

In my experience, the first-timers don't check the wiki first time they log on here. They are told to search the forums - that is what they do. And tbh, I don't really see how it would not fit in just fine in the guides section :)

Did it pick up the quests and start doing them? If that is the case, I doub't you had your WSG profile loaded...
If I am proven wrong, I will edit my post accordingly..

Actually, though.. The link in your signature leads to my profile - not this particular guide :)
