      HonorBuddy
      FOR
      DUMMIES

Being new to HonorBuddy (but not new to botting) I would like to make my first contribution to the community a useful one.

The purpose of this guide, at present, is to be a COMPLETE guide to get a new buyer from purchase to usefulness within minutes. True all of the necessary information is in the forums, but it's spread out over many guides and an incomplete wiki.

      v1.0 is now complete!!!

      Good work!
I think one of the best things about HB is the community. It's great to have someone that's eager to contribute.
      Welcome to HB :).

Should be mandatory reading before using bot for first time especially if you are not too good at working things out for yourself.

      Thank you....

Not quite finished with the Basics section, but when i am I think it will be worthy of being in the guide section.

I have now completed the Basic HB UI section (which has been uploaded and should be seen when clicking on the link on the front page).

Any feedback / additions / things you would have liked to seen in a guide when you started HonorBuddy are much appreciated.

Mount/Drink/Food can 99% of the time be the name of the item also.
Although the ID will make sure that Honorbuddy knows exactly which item to use.

Must log into your WOW account BEFORE opening HB
Should also tell them to be fully logged into their character of choice.

      Adding Plugins?
-Download plugin zip file, or through SVN client
-Place into /Honorbuddy/Plugins/ directory (picture include plz)
-If Honorbuddy already started click on "Recompile All", although a restart of Honorbuddy is preferred.
-To be sure it was loaded properly, and to active, checkmark it next to the list in Plugins window (pictures :))
-Any other steps & setup will be covered in the respective Plugin's thread.

      Adding Custom Classes?
-Download CC zip file, or through SVN client
-Place CC folder into /Honorbuddy/CustomClasses/ directory (pictures)
-Be sure to rename if needed (Fpsware CCs need this)
      -Restart of Honorbuddy is required
-Upon pressing Class Config in Honorbuddy it should show a list to choose from (only shows CCs that support your Class, but not necessarily Spec)
-Any other needed steps will be listed on the respective CC's thread.

      ***When to Restart My Bot
-After adding a new CC you want to use.
-If told to in the Honorbuddy Log Window (Reference Amplify Saved-Settings Log Output)
-After adding a plugin you want to use (Pressing 'Recompile All' may work instead)
-Anytime you feel that something isn't working as intended or described.

      General Tips:
      1) Be sure to read at least the first page of the thread for the CC/Profile/Plugin/Program you intend to use.
      2) Be sure to check and/or adjust Custom Class settings for every character (do not expect it to work perfectly without)

      Found a Bug/Error?
If you can determine what is causing it, find the thread on the forums for said CC/Profile/Plugin/Program
      Report the issue there
Include a log with the issue attached to the post ( See linked Guides :Where To Find Logs!--> http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorbuddy-forum/guides/9859-how-attach-your-hb-log-file-pictures.html :How To Attach Logs!--> http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorbuddy-forum/guides/35945-guide-how-attach-your-log-kick.html :

If all else fails open a new thread in the SUPPORT ISSUES Forum, with log attached as described above.

      Advanced:
      1) How to create a basic Grinding/Farming/Reputation Profile: http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorb...w-make-profiles-hb2-grinding-farming-rep.html
(if you would be so kind as to provide pictures to relate to above thread. Kickazz expects users to at least learn to do something :p You can teach them these things in the guide :)
      2) I will be adding a quick 'Log Analyzing' part to this post later. No time today! (Or I may just add it to the Wiki, if not already present there)
      3) Want to make more detailed profiles? See the Wiki page HERE ( HonorBuddy: Getting Started as a Profile Writer - Buddy Wiki )

Fyi: I'll be editing this post if I feel anything else needs to be added.
      But good work so far!
      I love pictures!

You have to attach it here on our forums, not to an offsite

It's kind of the same thing as going to your site for an SVN... it's a pdf file...

I'll try to upload here, but it's definitely an extra hurdle.
      --------------------------------EDIT-----------------------------------
Upload here seemed to work just fine... see OP

Thank you!!!... I will update again tonight... Was planning on including 2 more sections:

      1) How to get all your PvP gear in just a few short days
      2) How to setup GatherBuddy in just a few short minutes
      --------------EDIT--------------
Also going to include how to use SVN (although the video is quite nice and only 2 mins, I feel this can easily be explained and included in one page also)

      First few things I noticed;

The wiki is a bit outdated (and I'll update it later tonight on the points below)

      1) Please make sure you explain that your guide is using WinRar and Firefox for downloading/unzipping. All of our files are zipped with a standard Zip format, so any application (including Window's default unzip folder) can unzip the files.

      2) Its not recommended to install HB in the same folder as WoW anymore. (This was to fix some bugs with old plugins, but they've since been fixed to not use absolute/relative paths, and will pull paths properly now) People say to install it with WoW, just so you know where to find it, but you can install it anywhere you like. (I put mine on my desktop, and another copy on an SSD for my large bot farms. [I/O is expensive no matter what we do, so the faster the HDD, the faster the bot])

      3) Explain that the change to force run as admin, is optional. Users just need to be aware that running as admin is required by OS's newer than Vista. (WoW also needs to be run as admin)

      4) Singular (v2) is packaged with Honorbuddy. Its in constant development, and supports nearly every class/spec. (We package ShamWoW with HB as well, because its simply too awesome to not do so. I don't think anybody will be able to compete for quite a while)

      5) It takes 3 minutes of non-activity for a session to close automatically. (If you close the bot by the "X" button, then the session will be terminated immediately. If the servers are overloaded, this may not always be the case. However, that's a 1% chance)

      6) Please make a note that the auth portal accounts, are NOT the same as forum accounts. (They are completely detached web sites. For security reasons, and due to how vB handles logins (ugh)) Users will need to register an account to use the auth portal.

Overall, very well done. I think the font is a tad too large, but that's personal preference. (Having like 5 lines of text for an entire page makes it seem a lot longer than it actually is.)

First and foremost, thanks for your input. I will try my best to keep this guide update as time allows. At present, no change is expected until version 1.2, where I would like the guide to include basic "How to PvP Gear" and "How to Gather" sections. ETA ~ 2-3weeks.

^^^ This is partly why I built the guide, and partly because I believe a product should have a single guide that walks them entirely through the basic setup. While the Bot itself is much easier in general than any bot I've ever used, and the community is more supportive, there is still a learning curve. For example, when I first loaded the bot, I couldn't find anywhere on the forums what to put into the mount box (under settings). Then how to install and how CC's worked was spread across 2-3 different guides. Simple issues like that.

There is no compression on this guide. It is standard adobe .pdf format (the most common document format in the world!). I will include on the front page a link to the adobe reader website if for some reason anyone does not have adobe. It is built into some browsers now-a-days (like Google Chrome).

I will update these two points with v1.2 (that both of these suggestions are optional). However, it should be noted that my was written as a compliation of the wiki, everyone of the guides on the forum (which applied to this basic guide) as well as many support threads. I did not see that #2 or #3 was optional any where! Another reason why a single BASIC guide is a must IMO!

I am using HB with 3 classes at the moment and Singular is not sufficient for any of them. As such, I will not include an explaination for it in the guide, maybe other than to say just that ("HB is shipped with a very complex multi-class CC which works for some, but it is still recommended to view the CC forums to see which CC will work the best for your needs")

I'll take your word for it... I got this info by logging in and out of my HB over and over. I will update in v1.2.

I thought my Troubleshooting section addressed this, but it does not mention the need to create a new account for Auth portal. I'll update w/ v1.2.

I agree... if you view the PDF at a lower zoom it actually looks quite nice, but it looks way to big when you zoom into see the font on the pictures. I'll mess with it some before the next release.

Again, thanks for the comments... I welcome any further additions...

Inside the guide; you show images of using WinRar and Firefox for downloading. (I'm aware the guide itself is just a standard PDF)

Make a note that you're using WinRar/Firefox in the guide to explain the unpacking process for the bot.
