Hello, and welcome to my basic thread on how to get the support you need for your profile/HB errors. I've seen a lot of error reports during the last few days, with the new 4.3.4 wow patch, and the new HB 2.0.0.5883 release. I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting pretty sick of people posting simple lines such as: "hb doesn't start, why?" I mean, come on... How are we supposed to help you, when we barely know what the problem is? The reason why someone would need support is mainly to get help solving a problem, am I right? Now, if you got a problem that you want solved, don't lack the information. Further down in this thread, you'll see an example of a GOOD, well informed problem. But before we start, let's clear the air a little... Honorbuddy, just as any software, got flaws. Of course it does. Now you may say "well, fix them?". Let's take a look at Windows for example. Why are there flaws in Windows? It's a billiondollar company, and it still got it flaws. The developers behind Honorbuddy are humans as well, as for as I know. And I assume that you know what that means, that everyone can make a mistake. Enough about that, let's get this thread started. ----------------------------- 1. How to get support 2 What to do before posting a thread 3 What to include while posting a thread ----------------------------- 1. How to get support: In order to get support you'll need the latest version of Honorbuddy somewhere on your computer. Think about what you really need help with. Think about it, if you were helping someone else, you'd like as much information as possible, correct? And don't come here acting like you're better than somebody else, you wont get very far with that. And even if you post a thread with a lot of information regarding the issue, don't expect any support right away. It might take a few hours, or maybe even a day before someone can help you. Stay calm, relax and you'll get your help sooner or later. 2. What to do before posting a thread: Once again, make sure you got the latest version of Honorbuddy on your computer. If you're running 64bit system, make sure that WoW is running on 32bit (+ directx 9). Running Windows Vista/7? Run Honorbuddy with admin rights. Try compability mode with Windows XP. Look through the forum, if someone already posted something about this, use the search function. Still got a problem? Well, nothing is impossible, time to gather some information! Feel free to use this template while posting an error: Code: What's the problem that you're having?: Write here Windows version?: Write here What bot are you having problems with? (Grind, Quest, BGBuddy etc): Write here What profile are you running?: Write here 3. What to include while posting a thread: This is probably the most important part of this thread. First of, you should post this in the support issue section for obvious reasons. I hope I don't have to explain why... So, are you ready to post a thread? Let's go then! What to include: Your log. A lot of people doesn't know that without this, you're out on deep water. http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorbuddy-forum/guides/35945-guide-how-attach-your-log-kick.html The template above would be useful. Any other information that might play a role.
Below, you'll see an example of a good, well informed problem report. ------------------------------ What's the problem that you're having?: Honorbuddy is randomly crashing without an error message. Windows version?: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit. What bot are you having problems with? (Grind, Quest, BGBuddy etc): All of them. What profile are you running?: Doesn't matter which one. This problem occurred right after the upgrade to the newest version of Honorbuddy. I've tried a fresh install, removed the mesh files, but still no luck. You can find my log attached below. I commend your efforts, but sadly you and I know that there will be very few people that read this and follow its simple instructions.
There are Forum rules where it says: Posts without a log will be deleted without comment. Do you think anybody cares? btw. why isnt this in the guide section where it belongs?
