After about 10 minutes of running Honor buddy my computer freezes and i have to do a hard shutdown. No errors in the log, just a straight up freeze. Any help would be much appreciated

Hi, Viceversa10, and sorry about your problem.

Although Honorbuddy may be aggravating the problem, the problem lies somewhere in your system, and we'll be hard pressed to help you with this.

The things I would try, include:

      • Make certain your device drivers are up-to-date
Particularly, your video driver, and your audio driver. I'd also check what's called "chipset drivers"--people rarely upgrade these, but just like any other driver, they find and fix bugs regularly. Of course, all drivers are specific to your particular hardware, so you'll need to google for how to do driver updates for your system.

      • Make certain the runtime distributables are installed and running properly.
Carefully follow the complete procedure listed here:

Although your problem doesn't manifest as a "fasmdll_managed.dll" issue, the steps in this remedy are the same for repairing damaged runtime distributables.

      • Make certain your Windoze is up-to-date.

Start -> Control Panel -> Windoze Update

      • Try switching the WoWclient to DX9 mode, then restart the WoWcilent.

      • Lastly, you could have a hardware issue.
Download and run the free version of Memtest86, let it run for three complete cycles. (This will take 2-4 hours depending on your memory size and CPU bandwidth).
If it finds any errors in these three cycles, you've a hardware issue that must be addressed. Even one bad memory location is a major problem that must be addressed. Frequently, reseating the memory is sufficient to repair the problem. But, in more severe cases you'll have to replace memory sticks.
If those don't work, you might try examining your Windoze Event Viewer to see if it will give you a clue to what's going wrong.

I'm sorry, but the problem lies far far outside the scope of Honorbuddy and the WoWclient, even though they may trigger the problem. You're largely on your own on this one. Google is your best friend for things like this.

      cheers,
      chinajade

I'm able to run just a plain wow client flawlessly ran normal wow for 2+ hours to check if it was actually on my side. Only when Honor Buddy is up this happens. All drivers are updated and windows is current. I'll get back on the memory test

      Hi, Viceversa10,

I understand your observation. The failure mode you describe is almost always a hardware issue--specifically, failing memory.

Please follow the corrective actions we described. I know what we ask is time consuming, and somewhat painful, and we do not suggest it lightly. But, the troubleshooting tree we outlined is your best chance at solving the problem.

And as Bambam922 suggests, if you'll attach your Honorbuddy logs when this happens, there may be additional clues there also.

      cheers,
      chinajade

Mem test came back negative, but i did find the problem. CPU was over heating ^_^ simple clean of the heat sink and the fan solved it. guess too much dirt/dust was gathered ontop of it
