i get the point, take your time for a new release,it's better then having something just half working(at least it's my opinion) and keep up the good work as always
Will people be chosen randomly or by there contribution status? It's also good to hear that the dev's have listened to the community and relised there update's are not getting tested enough before they release so people are branding the whole bot broken because many thing's work then when i new update comes along there broken again and the whole bot is flooded with bug's. Thank's for the clearing up Bossland and have a good holiday
Testers need to be chosen by staff. Not on a volunteer to do this basis. People volunteer that have no idea how to add error checking to their code to properly diagnose a problem, just so they can say oooooo look at what I got before you. This is counter productive. This doesn't mean if you have gotten an error report right once or twice. This doesn't include beta testing some other product in the past. The people you choose should be able to directly write code to error check what is happening. With out this 90% of bug reports are worthless. So if you are just shouting out that you want to test so that you can get the versions before someone else and really have no clue how to successfully error check something, don't even bother wasting our time as the users or especially the time of the coders.
Not sure why wilson/wired we are talking about the community testing this, fellas. Bossland made no such statement, and that's a good thing. They should not use the community as a crutch. If you have someone who is part of the community, and can contribute, then they (both said person and HB/GB staff) need to formalize that agreement. This is all leaning toward quality control, as Bossland is thankfully noticing has been lax. That being said, if you have a beta build you want a large number of us to hammer away on, to squash the remaining (read: not major) bugs, then by all means, but make sure you list known issues, and clearly denote that it's a beta. We don't mind helping you guys out, but you should handle the heavy lifting.
you guys work so hard, and your bot is wayy better then most others out there. you come up with creative ideas ,and if something is wrong you fix it quickly. i sincerely respect that.
I would be happy to run testing but I would have to be supplied a testing account or at least trial accounts to test lower level things. I am currently a full time student so I am home all day at the computer. I really cant wait until things get back on track tho. I have seen many people posting problems as of late, myself included (IoC). Anyway, hope ya had a fun vacation.
Why? If anyone would want to do this, they should do it for free, atleast I would. It?s not like it?s something they have to do, they will be asked to.
Push them out, if they have bugs we have the option to go back to a previous version. These are BETA releases after all...
I'm hoping that you renew your commitment to this new release quality, for the benefit of this community.
Agreed. Every version that is released lately has problems that shouldnt be there. Definitely considering about 5-10minutes after a release people are already posting issues.
