ive been tasked with updating the BuddyWing user manual, when this manual was put together the bot was only around for a less then 2 weeks. now that the bot has matured and things have started to change. id like your input to see if any more information needs to be added or changed so anyone who is new to the bot can read and learn what everything does and how to use it.

please dont well on things like grammar or spelling, since its going to be properly checked before the next one goes out. this thread is about content, and making sure that everything you need to know is there.

      here is the old manual.

Probably focus less on the documentation, and more on making the bot function properly :D

      har dee har har.
im not a core dev, and most issues users post about are because they dont know how to set it up, or what buttons do what.

      Hi Code,

It might be nice to include a section on how to quickly transition to a new update since these normally happen each week. For example, I usually do the following:

      • Copy current Routines folder from the old build to the new build
      • Copy Settings\[Character Folder] and Settings\GlobalSettings from the old build to the new build (which saves the key number and other user settings, like last profile used)
      • Create a new shortcut to the .exe

A basic grind profile template/example might also be a good idea, as well as more detailed troubleshooting tips to help answer all those question repeatedly seen on the forums.

      Cheers,
      -D

ideally there should be no issues when using the auto updater.

the manual is more about "here is how you set it up, and here is what all the buttons do." basic things like Loading a profile are covered.

i could sit all day and write "if you have this problem, then do this, this and this". but thats what the forums are really for. when someone makes a thread, "my bot isnt looting" or "i keep getting an error, im running buddywing from the zip file" those are the things where if they read the manual and followed the instructions then they shouldnt have any issues.

issues like "well im getting this error during start up, i think its my Combat Routine" are more of the stuff that i think should be handled on the forums. we just cant cover everything.

here's the link to the latest honorbuddy guide. when im done the buddywing manual and all future manuals will follow this same kind of format and look.

we wanted to have a profiles and programming sections in the honorbuddy guide, but the time allowance just did not give me the time to sit and write "well here is a bool, and its only true or false" "these are tags, they are used in xml to separate data out, every tag that opens must have a closing following it" and that sort of stuff. so maybe in the future ill have time for that but right now my concentration is on the BW guide and getting it out, probably this week.

I would love to make some nice USEABLE profiles but to do that I would need to know how to add things like elevators to them. Something a little more advanced on profile making would sure be helpful other than making a basic grind profile, and adding waypoints and repair vendors. Like maybee some mailing to alts, a way to order the bot to hit waypoints in order instead of just randomly running from random point to random point. Maybe a pull distance ect. Im sure all of these things are in the bot but the average user has no way to know how to take advantage of them.
