Hey I am going to buy a new machine to run as many bots as possible.

As a guide I want 15 bots plus but I dont know what to spec on the pc to make each bit run at 20fps on low graphics settings.

Could someone who knows what they are doing give me some advice?

      Thanks,

      Helena

From personal experience, the investment is not worth it. It's a huge hassle having to manage that many bots. You might think it's easy profit, seeing as they do all the work.. They don't. With 15 bots running, you'd need extra screens to manage it, plus out of 15, there will always be 1 or 2 who fuck up, and you will need to fix. It's a full time job, with the worst kind of money per hour given. That's just my opinion. I'd save your money.

Ive been botting for quite a while now Shadowmarkus with multiple laptops (I buy one a year so between me and my partner we have quite a few capable of running wow :) ) And I know the pitfalls of running alot of bots and many people are on a downer about botting due to the gold price or percieved ban waves but I still want to do it.

So help with a build would be appreciated and also when someone actually gives me advice on a build if they are knowledgable enough could they please give a me a couple of options on the parts that will make a difference and what they difference is likely to be so for instance if a different motherboard would allow me to run an extra three bots if i did x, y z etc

Not sure what info you are actually after, the basics are 16-32gb of ram depending on how small you want to make the resources each wow client uses and you want a 6-8 core cpu to run it.
You need maybe a basic gfx card anything in the last 4 years should do, and I quite like the use of a SSD for botting machines but that is just me if you want just stick to a HDD.
Other than have a keyboard/mouse and a screen and you should be good to go with a PSU to fire it all up.

Ok well what do you use Teveel?

That setup you just gave me i could run on my laptop and I certainly couldnt run 15 wow clients on that.

How do you run your wow clients atm, because an i5 can run 15 on minimal settings properly setup.

I have loads of old laptops so I simply open one on each and let it run.

      my personal laptop is ...

      Dell XPS L702X
      i7 - 2670QM 2.2 ghz but it boosts to over 3
      8gb of ram
      64 bit windows 7

When you say setup propperly what do you mean other than just changing the wow settings in game to low?

Vanhorne86 your best bet is this.
Multicore Processor i7, x8 AMD, 32gb memory, decent graphics card 1gb 2gb memory, good cooling system, I run a watercooled system but tbh iv seen fan's do better cooling.
hdd i run a SSD but thats for my convenience. I run spot fans aswell for that extra bit of cooling.

      Thanks for the info Rosco.

How many bots will take run at say 15/20 fps? What parts of the machine make it run more bots? also I heard that wow only uses 2 threads so isnt 8 threads a waste or would a second just use another 2 threads etc?

What about motherboards etc does that matter?

Wow can run on just one thread, also I don't mean just changing the wow settings to low but also making the window freaking small so it barely uses anything to run the client.
After all if its just gathering/grinding/farming it doesn't need to actually be properly visible.
What r0sc0 put there will easily run 20+ bots without breaking a sweat, well much of one hopefully if its watercooled

So you want someone to actually find and list all the parts you will definitely need for a strong build and then link it in a post for you with more links to where you can buy the parts cheapest too?
If you can't be bothered to do some basic research and parts buying to make a bot machine how will you find the effort in yourself to actually get one up and running with 15+ bots?
I'm all for helping people but spoon feeding is what you do for babies not adults.

Ok well as for spoon feeding it isnt a case of saying do some basic research as when you are spending over a thousand pounds on something (20 % more in euros/ 65 % more in dollars) you want to know what you are picking is the correct option and IF someone wants to be helpful enough from the community to give that advice as I suspected someone would be then saying go get what you call basic info just really isnt appropriate. As for running bots that is a completely different kettle of fish.

Mr nice American who helped me came up with the following spec

      Computer Case Cooler Master HAF-922
      CPU AMD FX 8350 (8 x 4.0 GHZ)
CPU Heatsink Cooler Master Seidon 120M (Advanced Liquid Cooling)
      Memory Corsair 32GB PC3-12800 1600 MHz (4x8GB) - Lifetime Warranty (DDR3)
      Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 7850 - 2 GB - (XFX) - (PCI-E) x 2
      Motherboard ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 (AMD 990FX)
Sound Card Motherboard Integrated HD Sound
      Networking Wireless LAN 300Mbps (PCI)
Power Supply Corsair CX 750W PSU - Low Noise
      Hard Drive #1 128GB SanDisk SSD SATA-III, Read 490MB/s, Write 350MB/s - Silent
      Optical Drive #1 Samsung 24x DVD/CD Re-Writer/Reader - Black - (SATA)
Keyboard Logitech (MK260) Wireless Keyboard & Mouse - (Wireless)
Speakers Standard 2.0 Speakers - Black
CPU Compound Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

Total price - ?1040 excluding VAT (Sales tax) but including it being built for me.

So big thanks for the help :)

What do people think of this build then?

Very nice setup. It will easily handle what you are looking for. With the cooling you listed, you should have no problem overclocking, which I do not think is necessary.

NEVER use a laptop as botting PC!!!!!!
laptop around not made for 24/7 on they are made for few hours on and not doing hard stuff like gaming
after a few weeks/months you need to send your laptop away to clean them or worse.... you need to repair it because something is damage by the heat.
      use an normal PC
