Druids: herb in flight form, 280% upgrade to 310% in cata. No casting time for flight form for mining, can heal themselves, invervate

Paladins: 300% with crusader aura and 280% mount. 330% with 310 mount and aura. Can heal themselves, Divine plea

If I do the math, currently at 280% speed even with the casting time a paladin is faster at farming than a druid. After cata comes out the math works the other way. Druid at 310% is the faster farmer. I have tested GB on a paladin with a 310% and aura up and it misses nodes because they are not loading fast enough for the bot to catch them, when it does catch them it is almost so far past it that it looks funny to see it do a 180 and go for the node.

What is everyone elses thoughts on this?

Druid, other than the farming benefits, it's actually fun to play and wanted in raids ;).

Depends on where you farm...a druid is farming faster in stormpeaks beacuse most nodes there are herbs.
The thing with the missing nodes can be a problem of slow RAM...so perhaps using RAM with more MhZ and better latency will solve the problem.

I have 8gb of ram, 3.16ghz c2duo cpu, running win 7 ultimate 64bit. I run on average 90ms to the server I am on, which for wow servers I find to be really really good.

and even for herbing if you do the math, a paladin with a 280% mount and aura up 300% will farm many more nodes than a druid.

Pallies are alot easier to level though, rarely die since they can heal, bubble, judge, etc.

yeah I didnt have many problems with a druid except for the annoyance of 1-20 because HB cant navigate the stupid lifts. After 20 its just click and go and no problems. I did RAF on my 2 druids so tonight when I get home from work I am going to do dead mines from 12-20. Love having a side car for the one and just summon the other in! RAF+mounts with extra seats are amazing!

Now just need to get RAF working. Last night I got them both 1-12 just by doing a group and having them both on the same profile grinding together. Eventually they got more than 100 yards apart and didnt get the triple exp. I have NEVER used HB 1 and have been told that if you want to RAF bot that you need to use HB1... anyone have a link to a good post about using HB1 and setting up RAF?

I know that HB 1 you have to load a mesh instead of having it auto download, but aside from that I really dont know anything else about it.

paladin most definitely, since the aura increases mount speed by multiplicatively i.e. the total speed with standard epic mount is 452%
and i dont recall myself seeing my bot miss a node because it didnt load quickly enough :|

Having 8GB was not what I was talking about...just more.
What MhZ does your RAM have and what latencys?Because Gb reads the nodes from the RAM and the faster the RAm is the faster the nodes get loaded. YOu can have 983574387 GB RAm and it wont be faster...just more.
And a druid is faster if 90% of the nodes are herbs...1.5s ecs less time each node is just better than 20% speed in my eyes.
Also often the druid doesn't aggro mobs a paladin would aggro because the druid stays in the air

      ddr2 1066 is what I am running

making up numbers to do the math

120 nodes per hour for herbs only on druid

      60 * 60 = 3600 seconds in 1 hour

so a druid is doing 1 node on average every 30 seconds

now a pally has 1.5 sec casting time on the mount so we have to figure that in as well

      120 * 1.5 = 180 seconds

      180 / 30 (1 item every 30 seconds) = 6

      120 - 6 = 114

      3600 x.2 = 720 (20% faster = 20% less time. So in 1 hour it saves 720 seconds)

720 / 30 = 24 (24 extra events that are able to be done in the time saved by the increased flight time)

      114 + 24 = 138

      So math shows that:

Druid does 120 nodes per hour (at 280%)
Paladin does 138 nodes per hour (at 300%)
