To give credit where credit is due the previous call to arms BG was Arathi Basin. The logic is much better there. I love the "defend least defended" logic. That's outstanding. Makes it so bots will actually defend! *gasp* I would far rather my bot play well then join in on the biggest fight. The biggest fight is often in a place that's strategically retarded. It also makes the bots form a cluster of orgy fun if there are too many bots.

Yeah just tried bg buddy abit for the first time after this thread, its risky as hell and got me reported for the first time with some dude wispering me. Altho i could reply him that defending wasn't botting it still felt bad.
The poster above me was impressed by the logic in AB. I'm not its crappy and very very visible as all bots are in the same place and mount up to defend another spot at the same time. I guess the only way to make it work REALLY well would be to make the bots communicate with each other outside of blizzard channels. Create a logic that works like a team working together. But i guess that would be to complex

I guess the only conclusion from reading this thread for me is that they/we should ether make bgbuddy much better then it is or just remove it from the package. It really attracts allot of unwanted attention to HB and makes it very clear just how many people bought this bot and use it without regard to getting caught. This is a risk to all users and the future of this bot.

This thread started in March 2012, it is now almost end of December 2012.

I wonder if we will see any improvement or even just changes to the BGBuddy bot base before March 2013.

No one would report if the bots can actually play the game well.

This bot is called HonorBuddy for a reason.

BGBuddy is suffering from extreme overuse. It was fine back when it was released - there were 3-4 bots max per BG, and barely noticeable. I ran my old toons for 18 hours a day with BGBuddy for over 2 weeks after they were freshly dinged in Cata and I didn't get as much as a warning - I don't even think anyone noticed. Now it's a completely different story though and randomised pathing is becoming a necessity - the "Robotz in Disguise" bot for Runescape if anyone has heard of it comes to mind, which completely randomises mouse movement and delays between clicks, etc. A system like this could redeem a bot like BGBuddy, but I can't even comprehend how much work it will be.

I dont think the amount of buddies in the bg really matters, its more or less the logic that they use that is the problem. If it was designed so that there were different objectives or random actions then nobody would know the difference regardless. You could have the full bg as buddies and nobody would know. The problem is that certain BGs (like IoC and AV) have a 40 person cap, and when even 10+ of them are randomly running in circles, moving the same way, mounting the same way, standing in the same spot, etc its VERY apparent what is going on. I think that the developers should just write a few more profiles for each battleground, and have the software randomly select the profile, or change the profile throughout the course of the bg. Case and point - When doing Gilneas, or AB - how many times do you have people complain about bots as opposed to IoC or Twin peaks? Update the profiles, or allow us a method to randomize the actions and everything will be 1000x more smooth. Thats my $0.02

the problem with so many bots in a bg is all the bots try to stay with the biggest group usually according to the log, it says something like going to highest pop. area or something, and if you have nothing but bots all of them just stand in one big group doing nothing unless someone hits them, ive seen it in wsg where a bunch of the other team was standing in one spot and i ran by them with the flag 3 times and capped it all 3 times and never got hit (when i see that many i control my character myself because i dont want to get banned), but they never even attempted to go after me with the flag the only time i was killed was at first when i saw them and i attacked one triggering all of them to attack me and i died that was about the time i realized they were bots so i just kept my distance, imo they either need to be smarter or hb needs to remove bgbuddy from the bot

Yea I know exactly what you're saying. Problem is when the software says "Move to biggest friendly pack" and there are more then a few buddies in there thats when the cycle kicks in of just standing around and getting reported. They need to introduce some more profiles or a better way of handling the logic else it's becoming pretty worthless. Depending on the call to arms I cannot even bot honor for a week at a time... i.e. this week when its Isle of conquest call to arms. Too risky.

I did A Isle of conquest last night and deceiced to watch it and there were 13 other buddys on the exact same profile. My toon would take a couple steps to the left then the '13' would take a couple steps to the left. over and over i deceided to stop using BGbuddy unattended. The worst one was twin peaks and 6 of the team members were buddys and they all stood at the lighthouse because "there was nothing else to do" as the bot stated. As always, do not risk what you do not want to lose. Peace to all.

Blizz is not banning bgbuddy. Why bother then? CUrrent ban targets are gatherbuddy2. Yet bg bots do not annoy real players. Instead, bots are GOOD for real players: healer bots heal the massive ammount of DPS players. DPS bots are usually easier to kill than real people (maybe exception is DKs), so more FUN! Playing badly do not make your team to lose more, as there is the exact ammount of bots the other team. Bots in BGs are not bad to anyone, not even blizzard.

no because only a fucking douchebag would do this. Hey great idea, lets contribute to banning eachother so perhaps all botters can turn against one another and exponentially raise your chances of being banned. Anyone who agrees with this is a fucking tool. Good luck convincing anyone w/ half a brain otherwise.

      The end.

Then I most certainly owe him an apology lol. Shoulda noticed, but I will tell you why i didn't. It's because we all know that, unfortunately their are people out there who do exactly that "report" other botters. It makes me sick how selfish some people are and if they weren't an air head they would probably realize that by reporting ppl the likelihood of their own accounts being looked at goes up. Assuming having some honor wasn't enough of a deterrent.
Sorry certain things burn my ass-this was just one of em lol

OMG I loved (and read and laughed through) almost this entire thread.

This ^^^ particular link however, was awesome. The guy/girl opens a thread smashing botters, then his thread gets closed.

      Giggled so much, I cried.

I've seen about half an IoC team bot-stuck at the gate. I find it even funnier how all of the real players don't even say anything.

IOC is so buggy I always see 7 people follow the same path in the beginning doing really awkward movements.

I honestly think that if Blizzard shared the results of the investigation with the person who reported the bot then a lot of people would feel like their actions are actually rewarding by reassuring evidence. I once (when playing legit) used to report people for abuse, bots, etc. But now I stopped because there's simply no visible reward and it indeed gets boring since there are so many.

If I ever felt like reporting anyone for anything, it was because I was in a bad mood or they did something to piss me off. By the time a GM actually does the review I could care less. GM's magically contact you when you least expect it as well, and now there's a browser in-game to constantly tell you to check it and confirm statuses. The privacy of the report-e is also something they care about, but I just don't care enough about people to report them in a game. Just do what I do and always play on PvP servers and destroy them with your geared main.

Reporting botters is also a no no
