      Hai guys.

I've been a quite active botter for about a year now ( not much time , i know ) , and i've been trying to constantly expand.

I was making few bucks pre-MOP , and after MOP launch i started making some decent cash monthly , 500-900 euro . 2 months ago i even bought a new computer with my earnings , and tried to expand even more.

I've now managed to overpass 1k euro monthly , and im working on a botting project which i believe in 2-3 months will get me up to maybe 2000-3000 euro a month.

But recently i've been abit concerned about any possible legal issues, and would be glad to hear any kind of insight or opinion.

With legal issues i mean anything from " IRS " to lawsuit from Blizzard.

Thats quite an awesome history, i have been botting for about 3 years but just got on up on the gold selling train.
The only thing Blizzard can do is ban your accounts since you are only doing something against their terms of agreement.
the only thing you should keep in mind is that in certain countrys an average income of 1k per month is not free!
You need to keep it secretly or you need to pay taxes!

I hope I dont have anything wrong Since i am not a lawyer.
If i am wrong please correct me =D

There are no legal Issues, the only issues is that you are violating TOS which may get you banned! but if you are using paypal once you receive over 20k euros i think you need to pay taxes, i think it depends on your country

Over that amount the IRS is going to want to know where it came from, specifically just because they will want you to pay taxes on it. If its 3,000 a month it will be hard to hide that from them.

So basicly ( in your opinion ) if i pay taxes based on these 3000 euro a month , then i won't have any legal problems whatsoever?

If you pay taxes you should be fine, but people can sue over ANYTHING, so not 100% safe but irs wont care where its from.

If you pay your taxes, you won't run in to any "legal" issues. While depending on your tax bracket your taxes can run up wards of %40.

You're not breaking the law, and much and blizzard would like you to think that, you're just breaking the Terms of the service that they provide to you, in which case, they will ban you.

if you are making the money in euros, then i am assuming that the IRS is not the tax body you need to worry about. you need to check with your countries' tax body, as tax rules in every country vary, and while what you are doing is not against US law, it may be that in your country there is a tax code prohibiting your making money from "using other people's IP without their permission" or some other BS thing...

the easiest thing to do is call your local tax office and ask them. if it soothes your paranoia, tell them you have a "friend" in the US that does it, and you are "thinking about starting", and want to know if it is legal in your country.

but, in the US, as long as you pay the taxes (and remember, you are a business at that point, so you need to file quarterly estimated taxes, or face penalties at the end of the year), you are golden.

Just "start your own business" to make claiming your taxes much easier. Follow the steps to starting your own business and pay the taxes then your good :)

Technically if you did set it up as a business and were paying taxes then you could claim it as a loss if your accounts got banned. If I had a landscaping business and all my equipment died I could claim that. You could also claim computer upgrades, all your internet fees, and start up equipment. Shit, you could go out for dinner and say you talked about expanding your "business" and write that off too. There are lots of wonderful things about having a business. You wouldn't be breaking any real laws, just TOS. Of course Blizzard does have money and lawyers so they probably have a way to make everything illegal.

I'm more interested how he's making 1,000 euros a month. How many bots does it take? What's the electricity bill? What is the cost to maintain the monthly subscription in gold or money? Are they mostly SoR accounts? Is it a complex shuffling operation? He probably writes all his own farming profiles and coordinates. I feel like you get banned very quick now a days compared to Cataclysm.

      Last reply was 1 month+

Basically if you want to make money then you gotta find a way yourself enough ways on the forums gatherbuddy etc but with recent banwaves you might have to think smart.

You won't be making any unless you start trying things yourself. Better than asking something like that in a thread which has nothing to do with your question in the first place.

there are some grounds to look at claiming that he "made the money in the US" if it were US servers, though that's a big grey area (see Apple and Ireland for instance) though i doubt they'd be able to do it even if they could track your sales
