Getting back to my point earlier what are other botters doing other than limiting the size of the wow instance window and limiting fps to say 20 to reduce the resources wow takes on your computer?

I for example have set all settings to low (except triple buffering and synchronisation that i enabled since they actually increase performance) and limited my FPS to 15 both foreground and background
there are some better CC routines that require/work better with 30 FPS but i am using builtin singular CC and that one works perfect with 15
also i manually resize WOW window to 300*200 or so (maximum it will let you)
now there are more ways to optimise/reduce resource usage that require editing WOW config file manually and i did read about it in few threads but there are several samples of that config file and i am not sure which one is best

also don't forget to optimize your windows 7 by disabling all unnecessary services/graphic effects and so on both on host and in virtual machines, also windows file caching should be enabled only on host windows and disabled in virtual machine windows, updating last access time should be disabled on both ...

there really should be some type of WIKI or something that explains how to minimise WOW/HB resource usage and also one for reducing windows 7/8 resource usage, and maybe one more for how to optimize VMWARE/Hyper-V for running WOW i did pickup a lot but it is scattered around this forum in bits and pieces we should have it in some form of manual so people don't have to read 2-3 thousand forum threads and few dozen external websites to know how to setup everything

Completely agree with you about the 2000 threads, thanks for the info on the windows services I shall look into that.

Do you happen to have any links on the wow config threads you found?

Also when it comes to VMware there seems to be no common software used so I have downloaded

Pick up a copy of VMware workstation from your local torrent site.

How to optimize a VMware View Installation at That's my View

This link has some optimizations for virtual machines. The guide is written for VMware View (a server running a VM and the client connecting over the network) so some of the optimizations are network oriented which you can ignore.

You see, people think it's so much about the computer, it's more about what you're computer is connected to and how much it's running. Forget all of your processor junk for the most part, get a cheap one. Get a bunch of ram, 16-32g, and then get WTFast to connect to the fastest WoW server for you. Then you need to get Firehack which can get rid of ALL rendering items, such at trees, buildings, water, terrain, and any M2 object. You just see your character running on invisible objects. You can run as many bots as you want practically with firehack and WTFast.

Ok regarding this i would really like to hear opinion of some core developer, does firehack increase our chance to get us banned since it is modifying WOW like honorbuddy and does not have all the protections that honorbuddy has in place to protect us?
otherwise i would be too scared to use something like firehack, regarding WTFFast not sure i need it since my ping is usually 26-32 ms thanks to living near one of WOW datacenter, but if you have 200ms+ latency i can see how useful it could be

You can lower the CPU usage to 1-6% per wow without any tools...both tools doesnt really make sense. these tools wont be able to lower the usage for every single wow to 1%. both cost money and firehack (for wow) gives you one more reason for a ban, because its build to use flyhack and such things.
give us a proof if firehack is worth it or dont speculate with theories.

Hey cloudy I think your right on firehack even if it does give a slight advantage why add to the list of possible reasons to be banned.

What steps do you recommend to reduce the CPU usage per wow?

Are you planning to use a single ip for those 50 or whatever bots you're looking to put on the computers?

I recommend a amd fx8350 and a cheap graphics card like the 7750 or something in that range cheap 420-500w psu+case pre built in cheapest and 32gb of ram 4x8gb if you wish to run alot of bots.

Reducing cpu usage lowest spec in wow itself is all I can think of atm.

The Haswell Intel Xeon 1230v3 is a better choice than a amd and is only ~40? more.
the hd 7750 is ok, but get one with 2gig vram from asus - is only ~10? more
someone who suggest a cheap psu should not give hardware tips and 400-500w? 300 are more than enough...

dont save too much on your hardware.

notebooks are not made for botting. they save energy but cost 5-10x more than a pc ;) (compared with the bots you can run on each notebook and one pc)

Cloudy, can you please tell me why you have preference for Xeon version of CPU instead normal desktop, does it have some advantage compared to ordinary desktop variant?

also 7750 GPU is few percents faster than haswell integrated graphic, did you try running multiple WOW instances with integrated GPU on haswell or AMD vishera CPU? if that works even if it can run 40 instead of 50 instances it would be more optimal considering lower power usage and lower price,

i currently have separate GPU (nvidia 680) on machine i use for playing other games /watching movies while i bot, but i am looking to make separate configuration just for boting that is optimised for it and i cant quite decide do i go with builtin GPU or separate one,

all benchmarks i am looking show builtin AMD/intel GPU from last generation is equivalent to $150 separate GPU, only when going to $250 GPU it starts to be faster, but those benchamrks are made with farcry/team fortres/whatever in mind and not by benchmarking 50+ WOW+HB instances on minimal detail

did anybody running 20+ bots try integrated GPU (please note HD4000 GPU is 2.5 times slower than GT3 on new haswells and around 3-4 times slower than last amd FX APU released so if it can run 20 bots that number should be multiplied to get numbers for GT3 GPU

xeons are server cpus like opterons from amd and so they are made for a long time use and they have no problems to run on 100%.
only the 1245 series of xeon have gpus.
i told you how many bots can run on a hd 4000 igpu.

thats crap, a hd 7750 is roundabout 5x faster than intel hd 4000
the igpu versions iris/iris pro (intel hd 5000+) are up to 3-4x faster than a hd 4000
maybe a 4th gen cpu can kick the extra low gpu
but you wont find any benchmarks now for 4th gen cpus.

the better your graphic card, the more work from the cpu can be done by the gpu

      so lets compare:
      1. 4th gen cpu costs ~300?+
      2. 3rd gen cpu + a hd 7750 f.e. costs ~300? max

the 2. is a bit in front of the first, because haswell is no significant faster than ivy, just a but and the gpu is faster much faster than a hd 4600 and a bit faster than than a gt3

this discussion is a bit uselesse, because it doesnt matter which way you go.
instead of a xeon you use a 6core xeon or i7, which can handle up to 70 bots - maybe a bit more. but the cpu costs ~600?/800$

sry have not much time now^^

Other than turning down the settings in game and shrinking the window down, there's not a whole you can do without actually using a hack. You could always OC your CPU if you get an unlocked one.

i am sorry I forgot that it was several pages back, you are right:
in that case i would expect that graphic on haswell/vishera would be good approximately up to 50
      yes but you also said
so it may be faster 3-4 times but its used only 30% ...

sorry for taking so much of your time m8, thanks for all the info, I will try to build dedicated boting machine in next few months and will update thread with results, off course i plan to use VMWARE so my results could be diffrent

just because the igpu is faster, doesnt mean you run that many bots more

i can't tell you what and how much work the gpu is doing while botting.
i just took a look at the ati tool 2-3 times. maybe the gpu does sometimes more work or does nearly 0 work.

if you think about less electric consumption...forget it
theres no difference between an igpu or and extra gpu like the 7750/7770 (and some others)

a cpu with igpu is never worthless, because you can keep botting if the graficcard gets damaged, but dont rely that much on a igpu and keep in mind to buy an extra gpu.

With vmware you can use less bots then we talked about, because the vm itself needs also performance and ram.

you can buy a pc for 30-40 bots for 600-800$
      or
you can buy a pc for 60-70 bots for ~1600-2000$
