Heyho I searched the SuFu for this particular question but i couldnt find any thread about putting your honorbuddy on a SSD( Solid State Drive), so I'm making this post to help me out lately, I noticed some really low loadtimes for loading mesh and today, I'm getting my first SSD. So my question would be, is it worth it to put Honorbuddy (With Mesh) and even WoW (or only the MPQs) on a SSD? Is there any improvement visible? And what for settings should i use? Thank you in advance for clear answers (and sorry for my english, its not my native language )
I'm using SSD's for 2 years now, they greatly reduce wow starting time, but I never though if HB does benefit from it... I bet those mesh issues are related to internet connection (not only yours, but HB server too).
Well as a person who only has an SSD in the computer now, I can say WOW loads faster with an SSD, but other than load times I really see no wow improvement over a traditional hard drive. I assume HB would be similar, load times would be quicker, but over all improvement of the program running probably won't change much.
Thanks for your resposnse I know SSDs can't improve FPS on WoW, only loading times, butthe SSD should allow honorbuddy to use the downloaded meshfiles much quicker, if I'm right ( Like "loading gilneas xxxx") . Is this true?
An SSD will speed up ALL disk-related operations. Of course, as soon as you're dependant on third parties (downloading meshes, your own ISP), you will be limited by what they offer. I have WoW and HB on my SSD, and I can say that when doing LFR I'm almost always the first to arrive and see all others pop up behind me. Not that it brings you any advantage though HB has a lot of profiles, plugins and CR's, they do load faster on a SSD. I have to restart HB sometimes during a raid or switching chars, and a fast WoW and HB really helps me hide that I'm botting. Especially when doing LFR and I switch CR's or HB crashes. Getting back up and running as fast as possible is important.
Ummmm, both WoW and HB are on my SSD and yes they both load pretty quickly. The time from clicking enter after entering my password in WoW and Start in HB is maybe 12 seconds.
I wish... after entering my password and getting "success", it takes anywhere from 10-30 seconds before I get "Connected" and seeing my chars. Switching between servers the same; it takes a very long time. Don't know why, started 1 or 2 years ago. It used to be fast. PC is doing nothing at that time.
Thanks for all your responses i have no reinstalled windows on my SSD, Now im going to download HB and WoW (only MPQs) on my SSD. Will come back later for results Edit: So ive put WoW mpqs and the Honorbuddy on my new SSD, and i must say, it works GREAT! honorbuddy startup only 5 seconds, and WoW only 10-15 seconds. Buy an SSD when you dont have one Thanks for all your help
