As it is, there are three things that Honorbuddy insists that we change about our WoW installation that aren't entirely standard for WoW installs. They're not uncalled for, but they're probably not that common outside of botting either. First - Click To Move. It's a fine setting, and I use it normally too. But others do not, and when I've been so kind as to bot for other people's accounts - when they get back, they turn it off. "It's annoying as shit," some say. I'm hoping there is a way to get Honorbuddy to function without it, because here's something else that Honorbuddy does that a normal player simply can't do. With CTM on, when Honorbuddy is flying around - you can see that it's actually clicking in the middle of the air to move. Not the mountain way off in the distance, but an actual floating move point. Players can't do that at all, they'd be going for the mountain. That's a red flag in my book. Second - Windowed Mode I can't even run it in Windowed (Fullscreen), which is (or should be) everyone's preference anyway. It has to be Windowed, and it can not be fullscreen. I don't know anyone that normally plays like that, but it's also not uncalled for - people with shoddy computers might have to use a smaller window and poor resolution, I can't judge. But it is something that all Honorbuddy runners have in common, and that'd be a red flag for me. Finally -32bit mode for 64bit systems. Who does that? I mean, really. Players would have to go out of their way to set that up, and personally - I'd not want to run an application in 32bit mode if it's already optimized for 64bit. But 64bit changes memory references around, I get that. Easier to focus on what all systems could have in common - which is 64bit. I think that's a terrible idea, because the only reason anyone has for to run in 64bit mode, is for troubleshooting problems. No one should be running 32bit for the sake of it, and I don't think anyone does. The point of this post is to not criticize Honorbuddy, because I absolutely love the application and would be in a much different financial situation without it. But I think that it should always strive to emulate a standard environment, and I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that Blizzard collects system information and game settings as a way to determine most common settings - so they can adjust the quality of their game in the future. Problem is, while they're already collecting that information - what if they also searched for common settings for botters? Meeting all the "system flags" for botting by itself wouldn't do it, but I find myself quite certain that it has to be a factor.
The mesh system is build around CTM. I don't see it changing anytime soon. Everyone I know, including me, runs WoW in windowed mode. I believe we force windowed mode because HB works while WoW is rendering. The same reason why we can't have it minimized. We have already gone through 32bit and 64bit time and time again. The performance gains are minimal at best and it would put more pressure on the staff to maintain two different architectures for our bots. Not happening.
not to say that youre points are not valid. but everyone i know has always played their mmo's in windowed mode. mainly cause im usually doing other shit when im playing (ive been doing this for the last 12 years playing mmos(not just since ive been botting)). whether its chatting to friends via some IM service, or browsing random shit while flying somewhere.
I've always used Windowed (Fullscreen) Mode when playing WoW! As someone already said, it allows for quicker switching between applications. The whole 32- and 64-bit issue. . . I didn't even know that was a factor in using HB. I never had to change such a thing and HB works just fine for me.
I like the rest, have always used windowed mode (full screen) - even before botting, It's just easier to manage with stuff with.
The only kids i have came across playing WoW in windowed mode are devoured by swag. A true gamer would never play anything else than Fullscreen non-windowed
Clicking in mid air is not a problem, the server doesn't even know that it is happening. All they "see" is, "Char is at X Y Z". If you do it by WASD or CTM doesn't make the slightest difference.
Any ``true gamer`` that has a highend pc system will have at least dual screen. ( I personally have 4 ) When you have multi screen you are required to play in window mode. Did you try fullscreen mode video game???? you literaly cant do shit on your other screen. Any true gamer will like window mode, so that when they are in queue on something they dont have to alt tab and minimize the screen and risk losing queue. Dual screen + Window mode, you can do your thing while you see your wow, never miss a queue.. Even before discovering HB I always played in window mode, with my dual screen and then whe ni switched to 4 screen it was even better. With or without bot, when your on more then 1 screen you need window mode.
Play full screen windowed and auto hide the taskbar. Works perfectly for honorbuddy and its like you're paying in full screen.
