Got banned today with no previous warning or suspension. This is my first ban in 2 years, have never used an IP mask, have botted roughly 12 hours a day for a few weeks here and there and then not any for a month etc, but have had times when I botted 72 hours straight. Made millions of gold from that account so it certainly got it's value :)

Just finished listing a mix of old world mats in the AH, hit start to send it off again into MoP and got disconnected straight away, tried to log back in and got the dreaded message.

Was currently botting on 2 other accounts, and playing my main at the same time (same IP but different bnet's) So am waiting for them too all get shutdown soon if I was investigated and they search accounts used from IP. Oh well, was hoping it would at least be a 72 hour as my first offence so they must of had some good evidence right? Pleaded not guilty anyway so here's hoping.

      ***NOTICE OF LICENCE TERMINATION***

      Account: xxxxxx
Offense: Use of Bots or Third-Party Automation Software

Blizzard Entertainment has terminated this World of Warcraft license after identifying the usage of bots or other cheat software.

These programs (commonly called cheats, bots, and hacks) automate certain aspects of gameplay, or provide unintended advantages and abilities to the player. This type of cheating undermines other players' experience and severely upsets the balance of the game environment.

Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to terminate access for conduct of this nature, with or without warning, as noted in the World of Warcraft Terms of Use:
Blizzard Entertainment:World of Warcraft Terms of Use

This page contains details on how suspensions are appealed and reviewed:

      Blizzard Entertainment

Got it overturned to just a 72 hour. Happy days :)

Now, do I continue to use it, or let it die and revive it next expansion?

Continue Business as usual, you're not under special supervision but using GB2 is very risky. If you want to keep the character and be "Safe" (cant be with botting) make a new MoP License and transfer the char to it. Blizzard bans and suspends licences not characters. But I am not sure if they keep track of banned characters and if so for how long (this is relevant if you get banned on the new licence and turn it into 72h again)

If realllly want to keep the character and it's not just a glass canon farmer then stop using GB2, there is no safe bot for farming.

Sorry to hear about your ban tho! My main and 1 other account is 100% bot-free, I'm atm using a main botting account (not my real main ofc) and i'm wondering if I should host up other 2 accounts and level it up to 90 and farm the a lot of mats, sell it via C.O.D and then deposit to the guild bank and my second (legit) account (It's not an important account, using it for AH Posting) withdraws it and send it later on with mail/trade to my legit main account but I'm afraid that they can track it back to my legit main account and ban it. Is that a possibility?

As already mentioned: Blizzard suspends licences not players or characters. You can have 100 botters on the same Bnet acc and have them banned but your main will be untouched.

You absolutely sure on this? Don't wanna sound bitchy but, just want confirmation on that setup I'm gonna make and my main will still be "safe"?

Yes, I know someone who bots with ~15 chars on the same battle-net acc and had over 100 bans since WoW started. I can confirm that after all bans his main is still untouched and alive.

PS: All accounts were registred on his real name. This is important, it helps you turning perma bans into 72h bans.

I just played the not guilty game, told them in 1 sentence that I had never abused any policies in my 5 years of playing WoW and was confused why I got banned.

@Arbuz. Mine was SoR account that came from asia (I am EU), so not sure how relevant names being the same make a difference seeing as I was able to overturn it.

SOR and they reduced it to 72 hour ban? I would say you got lucky and didnt have to provide proof like ID card or CD key. SOR had been predictably insta ban and then reopen after proof. I am guessing your length of play....5 years...had something to do with it being reopened without much fanfare.

It depends on what type of offence. If you are actively disrupting the server's economy they really show no mercy. IP-bans are not uncommon for ALL accounts that have played on that IP.

I know for a fact since I got 37 accounts banned a week ago. Some of them not even online nor ever botted on.

It depends on what you do. If you disrupt the servers economy you are fucked and everything that you have touched is fucked too. If you for example have 20 gatheres totally disrupting the servers economy by driving down ghost iron ore prices to 20g/stack they will take very hard actions. Most likely your IP-adress and everything that has been associated (played on) with that IP-adress will go. Without being able to overturn it to a 72h.

However if you just casually bot 10h a day on one account just to get some gold to fuel your craving for epics...then you are pretty safe.

I've been playing 5 years, the SoR was only 2 years old.

The point is that in 90% of the cases, they ask for your ID to make sure the name on the SoR Account fits your name. If it's not your they will close the ticket.

      Indeed, that's how it's done.
