I hope Bossland has the x64 version of this application in their back pocket because as of 5.4 it looks like Blizzard is forcing the x64 version of WOW to be used even if you select x86 in the launcher.

UPDATE: There is a workaround. If you rename the wow-64.exe file to anything else and then run wow.exe, it executes the x86 version as expected. If you do not rename wow-64.exe and try to run wow.exe, the x64 version still runs.

You are missing what I am saying. Even if you click on wow.exe directly and you are on a x64 platform the x64 version of WOW runs. If you use the workaround that I indicated above the x86 version of WOW runs.

I renamed the wow-64.exe to wow-66.exe and it launched in x86 but still no workaround I get this crap:

      Honorbuddy v2.5.7684.656 started.

Exact same for me. I realize it may take a lil bit to get the new version of HB up for the new patch, my advice is, until its up use PQr its up already.

      Rename wow-64.exe to wow-64.bak
that will force wow 32 bit to load.

Otherwise if you have a 64 bit machine wow will load 64 bit even with 32 bit sellected in the option.

Note Honorbuddy does not support the new build yet...it will not connect and you will get

      -------------------------------
You have not selected a valid instance of WoW to attach to!

      -------------------------------

until a new honorbuddy is released.

But renaming wow-64 will allow honorbuddy to work as it requires 32 bit mode when honorbuddy is patched.

Not it won't. The HB.exe client searches for process name Wow.exe - If its called anything but Wow.exe, HB wont attach.

Just got off the phone with bliz tech support and they said they are going to phase 32 bit out over the next few updates. so 64 bit HB needs to happen or it will die.

No, they won't get rid of 32 bit for a long time. They might start making 64 bit used automatically if your processor supports it, but there's no way they're going to get rid of a huge client base that still doesn't have 64 bit machines.

      Tony,

From a technical aspect looking inwards on this, this statement on the OP is correct. It will launch no matter what to x64 maybe it's a tactic to pick out the players who use programs and such? Just a thought... (Anti-Botting/Hack) measures.

I would be more serious and diligent about ensuring that its 100% safe again (as posted by mods) but seriously don't take this lightly. Mark my words.

Thanks. That is all. Troll along now.

      It's got nothing to do with your processor. As long as your on a 64bit OS, WoW will default to 64bit, unless you rename WoW-64 to something other then wow-64 or wow.exe. Which means HB wont work unless they;

1, add support for 64 bit
2, attach by something other then Wow.exe(this is what HB does atm) which means anybody using HB needs to rename to newly supported filename

Option 2 is unprofessional, so i would expect a longer delay on HB(to add 64bit support)
