Unfortunately this is one project I can't just spend a few minutes here and there working on, I have to sit down and spend a couple of hours at a time in order to make headway with this project. Due to my work and family commitments at present I am unable to do that. Because I have just had the last couple of weeks off work with the flu I have a lot of catching up to do which means long hours and late nights spent doing something I would rather not be doing. Another developer has recently offered to assist with this project, so hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can make some serious headway.
OMG Did I just read 61 pages? Fascinating experiment. It seems this one is taking off. From everything I read it's been refreshing to see the updates and feedback. Great job FPS. Looking forward to when it comes out.
The future of Farmer Joe???? Guys, I have some news. Unfortunately it's not good news. As I'm sure many of you are aware there is a fierce legal battle between Honorbuddy and Blizard. Recently there was a court order preventing German customers access to certain features within Honorbuddy, some of those features being gathering of nodes (herb, ore) and support for flying bot bases. As these forums are open to all users in all countries a public release of Farmer Joe could be perceived as ignoring the court order by facilitating the use of a flying Botbase specifically for gathering nodes. In order to prevent any legal complications for Honorbuddy and Bossland I have elected to hold off on a *public* release or Farmer Joe.
is there any possibility to get hold of this botbase if one could prove that they are not from Germany`?
Just make the bot base so it will not compile with the DE Hb client, you are adhering to the court order then Sent from my C6603 using TheBuddyForum mobile app
Code writers have gotten around license infringements, injunctions and lawsuit for years by posting disclaimers. "this software is for testing and theoretical purposes only" or words to that effect. Or as XSilverDiceX said just don't let it work with the German version. Those of us not currently effected by the German lawsuit (we will be eventually) should not have to be held back. I am sure (not 100%) that Blizzard plans to try and stop all bot activity through each individual country using the German suit as justification. Once that happens only the countries that refuse to enforce said sanctions will be botting. In short we'll have only Chinese gold farmers to contend with.
For the question bout german user: we asked Bossland today, we will see what his answer is. For everything else ... haven't looked that much at the code yet since i'm busy at work and with PureRotation i'm activly reading this thread for ideas/suggestions and so on, so we will keep track of your ideas
an easy workaround would be to simply 'exclude' the german version from within the Botbase. It just has to be not working with the German Version, and there must not be a tutorial how to get it working - and everything should be ok Although Bossland will have a solution to enforce the courts ruling, weather good or bad for german users. Keep up the good work!
there is currently no need to exclude the german version, cause the key feature (gathering) is not working at all (the type Herb/Ore is not present in the WoWObjects, so the botbase never finds one of the herbs/ores) FJ is only flying around for hours and does nothing else, so germans won't/can't use it for the purposes they want it, but i thought bout changing the find method for ores / herbs to get it running, which i will not do as long as i have no feedback from Bossland about that topic! but thanks for the suggestion
Bossland said in the german forums something about the DE situation. Some people asked if its possible instead of using GB2 -> simply use a grind profile to gather herbs/ores. Bossland said that this stuff would be detected by HB itself and blocked.
just for clarification: does "at all" mean that GB2 f.e. also doesn't pick up herbs'n'ore? or is it some FJ problem?
In the german release of Honorbuddy the object manager does not allow the detection of nodes (Ore, Herbs etc). Its coded into HB itself.
thx for the fast answer =O why bother not releasing it public then, or: why making extra sure no german gets it? do you fear blizzard could sue you?
someone probably offered fpsware some $$$ to keep it private, it happens with a lot of his work, because his work is always high standards
