If that was even remotely true you could immediately file a case against them, they're not allowed to view your processes. WoW is only allowed to monitor its used memory and data, not outside of its runtime or installation. They can't simply see this either because if that were true Honorbuddy would have been detected already by the client. If you're not BSing this, the GM probably has no idea what they're talking about. They're similar to customer support agents in other companies, and don't have the full technical rundown.

Would be nice to see commentary.... this being my only time banned I look at the forum and seems like a lot of bans. Anyway, I did try to appeal via chat they wouldn't over turn. They did give me a specific date the software was detected... not sure if thats just the date the ban was issued or how they do these. but in looking back at the date, I am 100% sure it was due to using a grind program.... the one at the pools to skin the turtles in valley. don't use that one. I think it's a small route, i didn't use it for a long time. I was watching netflix and I know it didn't get stuck.

They don't "detect" the software, if the client was able to detect Honorbuddy it would set off its tripwire shutting down all of the bots. Grinding and Gatherbuddy2 are examples of the risky forms of botting as users can easily make it statistically suspicious and the risk of player reports is high. Once they flag your account they will monitor you (likely by watching you in their invisible mode for bot-like behavior), which is easy to determine if you know what you're looking for. Them swiftly denying you is probably because they had already "investigated" you. There isn't much to link to detection, it's all server side and player reports.

So after putting on my tinfoil hat today before I started my bots (gotta keep the GM's outta my head, you know?) I got an alert from my AntiVirus. Scan.dll (dll file in WoW folder) has changed significantly and has not been seen by many users (my AV uses cloud based protection). This warning normally pops when I update HB or some other obscure program so I didn't think much about it...but it light of this thread it may be that Blizz is changing up their scanning techniques. But who knows. You run your bot, you take your chances.

So lets make this clear and simple, here is a little snap it of we agree to as a blizzard entertainment/wow account holder

      Acknowledgments.
You hereby acknowledge and agree that:

      A. WHEN RUNNING, THE GAME MAY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER'S RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY (RAM) AND/OR CPU PROCESSES FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING CONCURRENTLY WITH WORLD OF WARCRAFT. AN ?UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM? AS USED HEREIN SHALL BE DEFINED AS ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE THAT, WHEN USED SIMULTANEOUSLY OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE GAME, WOULD CONSTITUTE A VIOLATION OF SECTIONS 1, 2 OR 7. IN THE EVENT THAT THE GAME DETECTS AN UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM, BLIZZARD MAY (a) COMMUNICATE INFORMATION BACK TO BLIZZARD, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE ACCOUNT NAME, DETAILS ABOUT THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM DETECTED, AND THE TIME AND DATE THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM WAS DETECTED; AND/OR (b) EXERCISE ANY OR ALL OF ITS RIGHTS UNDER ANY BLIZZARD AGREEMENT, WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE USER.

      B. WHEN THE GAME IS RUNNING, BLIZZARD MAY OBTAIN CERTAIN IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR COMPUTER, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION YOUR HARD DRIVES, CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT, IP ADDRESS(ES) AND OPERATING SYSTEM(S), FOR PURPOSES OF IMPROVING THE GAME AND/OR THE SERVICE, AND TO POLICE AND ENFORCE THE PROVISIONS OF ANY BLIZZARD AGREEMENT.

      C. Blizzard may, with or without notice to you, disclose your Internet Protocol (IP) address(es), personal information, chat logs, and other information about you and your activities: (a) in response to a request by law enforcement, a court order or other legal process; or (b) if Blizzard believes that doing so may protect your safety or the safety of others.

      D. BLIZZARD MAY MONITOR, RECORD, REVIEW, MODIFY AND/OR DISCLOSE YOUR CHAT SESSIONS, WHETHER VOICE OR TEXT, WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU, AND YOU HEREBY CONSENT TO SUCH MONITORING, RECORDING, REVIEW, MODIFICATION AND/OR DISCLOSURE. If you agree to allow them to scan your processes which agreeing to there user agreement it is not illegal for them to do that. At least in the US I dont know about other countries laws. But in America at least they may scan your proccesses while the game is running to enforce they rules and policies and so on. Do they constantly do this to all people logged in. Probably not. That would use a quite substantial amount of computing power and given the laggyness of some servers doesn't seem like they have that kind of money to spend/waste. So I would say it's like this, cops drive around and run plates randomly you know they get bored at a light or are just bored in general so they just run plates. You could be in a stolen car right in front of them and maybe they are busy so they dont run the plate find out it's stolen, this doesn't mean they cant figure out it's stolen it just means they didn't. Same thing with Blizz. Just because they dont have some background process running all the time scanning everyone's processes constantly doesn't mean they can't see your using HB just means they didn't. Now if your bots running into a wall and you get reported and they come by but at this point your running your toon by hand they could probably/maybe tick off your toon for scanning. They scan you closed HB maybe just running by hand and they see nothing out of the ordinary but now maybe/probably they can leave your toon on some list that it gets scanned constantly frequently whatever so next time you flip bot on boom they know.

Im not saying this is how it is I haven't a clue. But there is no way anyone can say for sure other then bliz if the bot is detected. No way to know. Maybe it is and they just dont ban everyone using it. Maybe it isn't and they just ban off player reports or have some other way to discover who's who via these forums and battle net. Who knows?? Only Blizz.

Either way the same thing thats repeated over and over is true dont bot what you cant lose. Law of averages says eventually if you cheat you'll get caught. Maybe not today maybe not tomorrow but someday.

      Lol such bullshit.

If this was true. On the numerous times I've talked to a GM with in game content issues or other shit WHILE I had HB open and running doing a Tyrael Rotation and spam inviting people to my guild and shit.... You think I would have been banned as this is running 100% of time I have WoW open.

Never banned on my main account minus a dupe exploit which was pushed to a 72 hr ban. Again I was even botting then and right after as well.

If you honestly was not doing anything then you can ticket it and get your account back. I don't know why you are bitching about it if you didn't do anything. It's like an admittance to guilt. Move along...

meanwhile all 5 of my accts that have been running for 12+ hours on the same IP and same 2pc's without renaming the .exe or anything have been running problem free for months on end.

if the OP's account of the situation is accurate.... the GM was just bluffing and OP bought it lol. he could have even said you were running honorbuddy and (knowing its the most popular) without even having a clue if you actually were or not, and your response would have determined the answer for him.

and just a note to the person quoting the EULA/TOS. just because a company puts something in their TOS. does not remove your human right to privacy. if they were scanning outside the wow process then it is an illegal invasion of your privacy and you could contact a lawyer, sue blizz and become a overnight millionaire. but that wont happen because blizz isnt stupid enough to do that because it would be one of the dumbest business decisions they could ever make. no company would take on that risk. all the shit they put in their TOS / tell you they scanning your shit is just a deterrent to try and prevent people from botting as it gets people scared (proof: op and the likes)
