I'm thinking about setting up about 10 bots and I'm wondering if it would be possible to run it with a 7200rpm disk instead of an ssd.
SSD only makes a difference when wow start up. And I agree you need a really good CPU.. @smiie I personally got an I7-4770k 4c 8t and I can run 6 bots (Probably more) BUT! They seem to stutter a lot when moving around My setup: CPU: Intel i7-4770k 4c 8t GPU: MSI Geforce gtx 770 RAM: 16gb 1600Mhz HyperX Motherboard: Z87-G45 GAMING - I do have an SSD but my wow is running on my 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD. Maybe AMD is better.. I've read that it should perform better when multiboxing 10+ chars, haven't tried with more than 3 bots on my old 6 core AMD.
I am doing a build this week for a buddy who wanted to get into farming. AMD FX 8core hopefully overclocked to 4.6, with 16 gb ram, hoping to run 8 instances. I can run 5 no problem on my amd phenon II, had up to 8 when i first bought the pc. Id imagine the newer cpus could hand 10+ but may be a bit lagged

Yes sir. I purchased mine about 5-6 months ago. But you can search for similar. The above one sold for $1190 I believe. Look in the same price range. Can probably get better now. Or build your own.
An ssd will cut down on the loading times. So depending on what you're going to bot it can matter a bit, though it won't have any major impact. (loading instances will be faster) The question you probably want to ask is if you need the capacity of a 3.5" model or if an ssd has enough. If you're just going to bot on it then a small ssd should have enough capacity for the OS, HB and WoW, no reason then to put a big HDD in then. Power consumption will also be lower on an ssd.
Im running 15 bots with an overclocked 3570k and 7870 radeon. You should optimize every client graphics.
lol i love it when people use the word 'optimize' for 'turn down the graphics till it looks like chit so poverty hardware can run it' reminds me of console kiddies talking about how their games are optimized i ran 6 clients on an overclocked 2500k. cpu usage was high, but there was no stuttering
Thanks very much As a side question, what version of windows do you uses? I'm at 8.1, but thinking to downgrade to a older one like xp in order to save processing power to the bots.
What are you even talking about? Of course you want to make every client look as shit as possible to minimize CPU usage. Botting isn't about eyecandy, it's about being as efficient as possible.
don't use 8.1 but follow guide Dockson gave you to disable all unneeded services, 8.1 can use CPU and memory much better than XP as long as background tasks are not enabled
Ive ran 25 WoWs on this setup. I7 3770K OC'ed to 4500MHz 32 gigs ram Radeon 7950 GPU 240 gig SSD windows with 2 TB external storeage drive They dont run the smoothest but they run and do their job. Or should I say ran. They are all banned now
