So I have owned a weird range of computers that my boyfriend and I have been cycling through. My last one had died a terrible death.. I threw it out of my third story window (cabin in Tennessee) and it landed gracefully on a huge rock and smashed to pieces! I hated it and I destroyed it because I got a new one . It is an Asus G50v with windows 7 and whatnot. It came with Vista but I upgraded. The built in camera sucks but the mic is awesome. It tells me the time and I can control it by the touchscreen above the keyboard. Defects I know about : Its CD drive will randomly crash and cease to function.. It wont spin, open or close, nothing and randomly. If I apply pressure to the sides of the front (the sides of where the touchpad is) it shuts off and wont turn back on until I remove the power cord and battery. Other than that its great.. but it will heat up and burn you... not a lap-top more of a cooltable-top.. One time the A key stopped working and I simply couldn't live without it so I brought it to best buy and they said 2 days.. I wait 2 days and return because of no phone call. They said the entire keyboard had come in contact with a liquid and it needed to be replaced. I didn't do it and it must have been my boyfriend so I agree and they say a week. They call, I come to get it, and they send me away with my old keyboard and my fixed laptop. I chucked the old keyboard out my car window because it literally had something sticky on it and I was not going to keep it in my car... Damage Report When I got home 1) The left side where the fan exhaust was had 7 of 10 rails broken (little plastic things that protect me from putting my hand in there and burning myself.. look like slanted jail bars but plastic ) 2) Numerous scratches everywhere.. and I mean everywhere.. they even managed to get it right under the logo on the front of the laptop right above the angle. 3) Finally they had downloaded 6 things and moved around my icons, signed me up for their website deal stuff, and installed a norton trial. I called and complained for this last one.. The fan itself runs consistently usually at a moderate speed and the noise is like someone breathing. One of the guard rails was broken to a point where a piece was missing and it got lodged in the fan chamber and if I move my laptop around too much it will make a noise that tells me its hitting it. EXTREMELY loud and slows the fan down greatly. WoW becomes laggy and it burns to touch that side of the laptop. Like normal I shook the laptop to get it to stop but it shutoff. And it thought I applied too much pressure to the front but it wouldn't turn on even after removing the power. Freaking out I shake it some more.. plug it in and it works again.. >.< I am really wanting to take it in but I don't want to come back with a piece of crap but a working fan! I am also in no mood to open up my laptop.. I would probably sneeze from all the dust, and break it somehow. Any ideas?
Throw it out of a 4 story building. But seriously, without paying more money to retards, you are going to have to download the diagram and take it apart, removing any pieces of crap inside the case. Or, never move your laptop again. Or, take it back to best buy and bitch them out and ask for the manger. Or, destroy it in a fire.
Get out of my thread. Or I will throw you out of a 5 story building. EDIT: Well thats a better response. I'm not burning it or chucking it out of anything. So your last one is useless to me and don't you read laptop batteries, you cant burn those! Its a laptop, its going to move, id rather bitch at a manager, and I really don't feel comfortable opening it.
OK first of all before giving you correct answers i would need to know for how long do you own that laptop and if it was new when you bought it or second hand
''3) Finally they had downloaded 6 things and moved around my icons, signed me up for their website deal stuff, and installed a norton trial. I called and complained for this last one..'' norton why oh why!? norton imoa is the worst piece of bloat ware to install get nod32 anyways the best advise i can give you is befriend a geek taking apart a laptop can be like taking apart a pocket pocket watch even i don't mess with laptops p.s it made me lol a little when it took them a week to replace the keyboard your local pc shop can do it in 1 or 2 hr at max
I am currently working on a steampunk (looking) project for my old laptop that overheats too much. Works fine without the bottom peice and a fan pointed at it directly. SO im steampuking it up. Like butane said which i think was rather helpfull ignoring his jockular remarks about throwing and fires hes right. Diagram or go back to where u baught it and bitch only really two choices. I got a diagram for mine found out it had special screws. Went to radioshack and bought them for 2.79.
Owned it about a year now.. and its from the asus sight. Opening it didn't work because I got them all out but 1 and it was already warped when I looked at it >X.. Stupid Best Buy geek squad
Ok first check the warranty if inside get it back to Asus as for best buys if its only a short while since you got it back take it back and ask to see the log reports and show the damage scratches and such kick up a bit of a fuss in the shop because being honest that laptop needs replacing heat as you describe will only do damage have you checked fan for dirt ? you could try and see if there is a bios update etc check your hardrive is seated right i would take back to bestbuys ? (if you did not buy it from them warranty is gone etc) just a link on upgrage to windows 7 for your laptop http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20091020123501828&board_id=3&model=G50V&SLanguage=en-us cleaning the fan would be my first look and bios update after that but really go back to bestbuys
^^^This^^^ Besides being rocking computers, ASUS is known for their excellent warranties. Unless you bought a 'special' from some reseller, ASUS *by default* come with two year warranties--the best in the industry. BestBuy Goober Squad is an absolute joke. The best they know how to do is install crapware, and look for pr0n on your computer for their personal gratification. If it involves anything beyond that, they send it out to repair shops anyway--that's why it takes so long to get any real repairs. A better choice would be to take it to a local repair shop yourself--cheaper, better service, and no time futzing about with nonsense. Never, ever take your computer to the Goober Squad, unless you've got some pr0n your just dieing to share with someone. BestBuy frequently uses the "liquid on the keyboard" excuse for everything, even if it never ever happened. Make a list of you complaints--overheating, keyboard, etc, and send it to ASUS for warranty repair. cheers, CJ
i know that the cd-drive problem is 100% Win7, got the same problem on all of my pc's, there is alot of problems with those in win7.
