Is there any way to make sure the payment is 100% legit, no charge backs, no fake payments. I just lost another $350 sale. Thats $1700 gone in 2 months and im getting tired of it
Same problem mate ... what i did was switch to moneybookes aka Skrill. Hadnt had any problems in 2 months ... its a problem tho because not many has the account but as far as i have noticed ... if i tell a buyer that i am using only skrill as payment and buyer is legit there was no problem for them to create it ... i really dont understand why so many people use paypal ... u have NO protection as a gold seller what so ever. If he the buyer sends money and writes in a message he is buying gold and what ever wont help you because if he does charge back via bank "item not received" you will loose. If he does payment (family/friends - gift) he can claim unothorised transaction and again you will loose money. Meh ... paypal sux.
I wonder that my self ... Anyway i would love to hear some pointers ... and not those options some claim to use a) Message stating that person is buying gold - when receiving money <= this does not work b) Sending an envelope to an adress so you get proper tracking number. <= bull crap, not practical + its refundable
Paypal offers ZERO coverage for intangible items. Any dispute that pops up and you will lose. The only workaround is to mail something to the person that has both shipping and a required signature upon arrival. I do not sell over paypal unless there is something tangible involved. You just write the transaction info in the letter with some sort of an access code or password that can be used when it arrives to complete the transaction.
Nope, that's the problem... the trust comes from one party or the other and they put the responsibility on... unsurprisingly you the merchant. The Chinese usually eat the chargebacks, most people don't rob stores they are honest customers, about 5-20% would be fraud and the rest is fine.
Moneybookes aka Skrill is indeed a very good option. I only sell trough Paypal to people that are highly trusted. If anyone I do not know or I do not deem trusted wants to buy anything game related from me I always use Moneybookers/Skrill. Getting a refund/chargeback trough Moneybookers/Skrill is very hard and a lot of work. I believe Moneybookers/Skrill does only return the money if they are 100% sure that the creditcard/account was stolen. Been using it for 4 years and never had a chargeback or any kind of dispute. While using Paypal I've had a lot of trouble with chargeback's and other disputes
lol, both a payment processors and both have to follow the law. Although I don't know about Moneybooker's internal system, but maybe with a touch of MaxMind and Moneybookers it could work out.
I don't know why Paypal is so lax about "unauthorized charge" stuff... So dumb. You could always have the customer wire the money -- but then they have to really trust YOU.
