Yea because using the bot to gear a toon in randoms (and cut down on the hours of grinding), or like many do, to help with pve... is exactly the same as using it to get the advantage over other HUMAN beings in rated play (something some people take very seriously). I don't think Garosh is going to care quite as much as a real person. I guess bads with be bads, and look for ways to cheat and win... if you can't see the difference between these things you are actually pathetic.

Never once have I claimed to be more moral or any of the other BS you are spewing. I made a post saying, honorbuddy deserves the glad title, not him... if he is going to cheat in rated play against other people.

But the facts of the matter are, cheating against other real people is, in fact, different than cheating against computer npcs. It's not a difficult concept to understand.

He does have a slight point, beating others in player vs player is bit lame, but so is getting kills in PVE you dont deserve.
While im totally fine with using bots for grinding shit, yeh, im ok with being a hypocrite in this matter :p

Its not that different tbh, people care equally about rankings in PVE (Anywhere from dps ranks, progress and guild world rank)
If you get that with honorbuddy, its the exact same principle. None of you deserve it.

Holy shit your so ignorant. Example of how its literately the exact same thing. Take for instance a very serious raiding guild theres two people Person A, Person B. They both have the exact same gear but person A doesn't use a combat CR and person B does. Person B's dps is basically the max it can possibly be cause of the CR's effectiveness. Person A who is still a very good player by hand has similar DPS but not as precise as person B's. Person A loves raiding and is very passionate about it. The guild is going to take person B over person 10/10 times because his dps is better. It doesn't matter how passionate person A is if person B's bot is pulling more dps sorry Person A find another guild. In this example person A is screwed over by the botter and this is only one person this could happen numerous time to many different people all from the result of person B. In the end humans are the one that gets hurt just like your arena example. It's the same fucking thing dude. Coming from a 2.2k hand acted PvPer. If you bot there is no epitome type of botting all botting is equal, it all negatively effects the non botters.

EDIT: Just because your "way" of botting doesn't directly effect players doesn't mean that it doesn't involuntarily hurt them just as bad later down the road. If I steal directly from walmart its stealing, If I hire someone to steal me something from walmart... its STILL stealing just as bad.

You make a solid point, I don't pve, but I can see how this could lead to someone possibly getting the shaft because someone else is botting. Good point. But in PvP... if it's giving you the upper hand, there is no maybe, it is directly, negatively effecting someone else.

I still maintain that there is a difference between x botting vs. y botting. What you do with your bot, can and does have more or less effect on other people. You could make the argument that me running my bot in randoms to get honor gear is still negatively effecting other players.. this is true. But I would be willing to bet that the majority of players would overlook botting for honor gear, long before they would accept using the bot to cheat in rated arenas/rbgs. Yea, it's an assumption, but after talking with other players about this very thing, reading blizzard forums posts about this very topic, it's pretty obvious where people draw the line.

It's all technically "wrong." Nobody is arguing this whatsoever ... but it's not just a simple black and white situation... some things are worse than other things.

I still think you missed my original point. I don't care if someone bots, for obvious reasons. But you can't take credit for what the bot did. If you interrupt bot, orb bot, ddos or any other method of illegally giving yourself the upper hand, you didn't earn it. It's that simple. That's why I made the original comment, honorbuddy deserves the glad title. I stand by that statement.

Not sure what forums you read, but BG botting is one of the most hated elements of PVP, judging by official forums.
And its not about possibly someone getting the shaft, they are, all the time. High end raiding is dependent on earning your spot, at the very top you'll get replaced by someone consistently doing a few thousand higher dps.

I do see both sides tho, i just dont think botting for high end pvp or pve is "accepted" and i certainly dont think there's a greyzone, like you're trying to justify.

You're saying a bot can do more dps in a heroic raid than a top world raider as a fire mage? You're dead wrong

      Just an Idea ...

      Hi there,

I know it is always battle between botters and blizz, and i know the bot needs injection routines to control the whole thing.

But here is an idea to share:

What about developing an interface (or Bridging Program) which shadows the whole memory needed to control the game, via Call by Adress, and provides it to another part of the RAM or to a Network Interface for Example. So this would enable the Bot to run on another machine.

Then it could be completely virtualized, or run in an emulated space, like Wine on a LINUX Box.

So Warden could scan the whole memory, as long as it wants to and had no clue of any Bot Instance whatsoever. Like the Frog in the Water.
This would seem to be close to 100% safe according to my opinion.
But unfortunately my coding skills are not sufficient to realize something like that. But it were great if the Devs could give it a thought.

      Kind regards
      Arngu

P.S: Feel free to contact me if you think this considerable and want to discuss it.

Alright well I played yesterday without the bot and I just don't enjoy it at all. The only thing that got back into playing WOW was HB so as much as I don't want to lose all the work I have done on my main and others I just am not going to continue to play without HB so here goes. Firing up the 6 rocket launchers today :)

Have you seen what Hermit can do? :)
If not you should take a look then determine wether or not a bot will be able to do more dps than a human.

May having the bot on like an usb stick help with the security? Because I know through experience with cheat developers for VAC games that it helps against that, since VAC only scans the main hard-drive (C:).
Maybe it's the same with warden?
