I've been gone from the community for a very long time! Started back when Glider was around, then transitioned to this. I used to use this to make some side spending money selling gold (~100-150 dollars a week) in high school and my first year in college, but I completely left the WoW scene, and somewhat more broadly the gaming community. I'm back and I see that this is still around - awesome! It's expanded a lot since I've last been here and it seems that everyone is generally happy with it. What all has been going on here in the past year? How has the gold-selling community shifted, if at all? Is it still viable to make 400-500 dollars a month with extremely limited human-computer/bot interaction time with just one account? How are people gearing up for WoD and what is it looking like gold-selling wise? I have some free time and some money I could use as an initial investment to pay for a few months game-time, and I am thinking of trying to sell some gold again. Any input would be great!
Hi there and welcome back. As those questions are asked once a week and we have literally 1k gold making/selling/... threads, i would give you the advise to use the search function. There is plenty of information out there already.
I did indeed use the search function, but it is nice to get personalised and simplified responses. "Sucks right now, dont do it." or "Wait and prepare for expansion" would have been great. The "use search" just leads to another dead-end space-consuming post. For those interested, all I have been able to see so far: Supply is high and demand is low. Chargebacks are a large problem. Don't use Paypal (apparently). $.05-.80 per 1k gold on U.S. servers seems to be the best rates when selling to non-private buyers, so rough guess of about ~400,000 gold per $100 on an average server Botanica optimally makes around 900 gold an hour just vendoring everything. I'll say roughly 40 cents an hour if selling to company/those mentioned above. Shuffling may be the best bang for your buck still Right now isn't a good time to sell gold (but when is?) Did I miss anything?
It seems to me you already had made up your mind before seeing the answers. You wanna try it again? Go at it, feel the heat for yourself. Truth is GB2 is highly likely ban,Dungeon farming is extremely high ban chance at this moment. Questing its safe but really not afkable. Bg farming also high ban chance. So, Blizz seems to have most points covered. Beyond that, the number of bots is massive and many people have no shame in reporting others they find along. If you step in a medium-high server trying to find your profession niche, you will be reported 90% sure, cause you'll be pissing someone who'll check up on you. Botanica, btw, will get you banned in 72 hours or less. Take a look at the ban section before going that route. At this moment, you can use Hb with a certain sense of safety using it for Combat routines in raid. So, in all honesty, use this time to level some chars and wait for the expansion (hopefully better times). If you were around on cata, this has nothing to do with that kind of botting. You'll be utterly dissapointed.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks It's pretty horrible that people don't care too much about the reports. Yes, carelessness when botting is going to lead to a report, but it sucks that, from what you suggest, people kind of just see it as a last man standing type of thing. It seems relatively more of a risk of being banned than not, even with a lot of precautions ;'[ Yea I was doing this gold selling during cata and early, EARLY MoP Thanks for the response though
Who will blame people who report botters. There are 100 new botters every day, the market is hard, gold prices are low. If you gather herbs and ores, and another botter is following you with the same profile, you won't get 1 report, you will get 10. If you bot dungeons and the Frostweave Cloth value drops from 60g to 20g/stack, other botter will wait for you in front of dungeons just to hit the report button. If you bot bg's and run in a bulk with 15 other bots, a single player opens 15 reports. It is just 1 click now to report a bot. and as mentioned before, the marked is hard. My suggestion to you: don't waste your money or your time. 400 $ with 1 bot without 24/7 supervising is almost impossible at a resell price of 0.03cent/k
The prices aren't 0.03cent/k But yeah it's low and banrate is high what do you expect it's been like this for like ever. 50-100$ is a realistic number and you have a good chance to get a ban. Just mentioning if you haven't botted in a while then you're gonna be disapointed banrate is rediculous high.
Gather some millions (right now too late but generally) and sell it the first few days after launch of new expansion. How to stay safe? Just think about your account is being checked and all they see is your character is gathering stuff or only running dungeons. So What to do? Give them the feeling everything is fine. Variety has always been the key for longterm safe botting. Create multiprofiles, work with reloggers that change profiles, botbases whatever based on a random shedule. Just don't do the same every day, at the exact same location. I know this takes time and effort, but that's what it is about.
