that may be the case but it didnt stop the forum member who made a flying - fishing addon....

 

Its moreso because the current nav kind of fakes the Z axis. It can move up and down, but it can only navigate in x and y, it can't actually navigate in Z. If you are in a cave for instance, and give it a point vertically above you that requires going out the cave, it won't know what to do.

 

Please, take as LONG as you need on the navigation. The more bugs and bad spots you find out now means less headache for us later.

plus you really wanna use a diffrent kind of nav, something that isnt locked to only where you can move on the ground to. you got to remember that if you where flying and you did a call, to Nagivgator.MoveTo(Iron Forge) [from stormwind] the navigator would generate a path to redridge and blackrock depths. when really the best way to get to it would be a line going directly to ironforge from stormwind. really its just the API for doing this just is not there. yea, there was a plugin that managed to do it, but it wouldn't work well for mounting up and flying for long distances.
hopefully now when you guys are like "Add flying to hb" you'll know that its not such and easy job, and when it is implemented they want it to be a snap for CC's and Plugins to use, instead of maybe hacking together a WavePoint based movement on your own.

 

I honestly LOVE some of the alliance quests.. So maybe, just maybe I will try to make some quest profiles tomorrow. ( P.S. If you haven't and your alliance you HAVE to do the redridge quests)

You misunderstood my question, but I just realised I might have misunderstood the contest.
I thought the contest was about making flying gathering profiles for GB in Azeroth for skill 1-300. And then I was wondering how people would make these profiles and hotspots, without being able to fly?

Maybe stupid question but...

Why couldn't you leave HB working in Northrend/Outlands and just disable old Azeroth profiles untill they are rewritten ?? I understood that you had to change whole code program after patch 4.0 because game mechanics changed but they didn't that much.
