Hey fellas, I was running dungeon buddy for a bit using Singulars routine. I normally watch the bot while I work on coding projects or do stuff within eye site of my computer. I get up to go use the bathroom and I come back a few minutes later to find my guy is just standing around doing nothing. I think to myself thats kind of odd because this never happens in this dungeon and whatnot. Before I can do anything a pm pops up saying the entire group has reported me and thanks for trying. Before I can respond I get disconnected but I was able to log back in fine... What should I do? Its not the end of the world if I get banned, I will just buy WoD and boost a char (I am sick of leveling). This is the first time somebody has ever supposedly "reported" me so I am not sure what to expect... I am more concerned of how long will it take a GM to look at my log file and see me botting (yes I understand nobody really has the right answer)? I did it for about four hours this morning and was just told about it ~30 minutes ago. Should I bother playing it anymore? Because if I was reported like they said, all the GM has to do is see that I have botting tendencies and well the rest is history.
Eh I just wish I had a time frame or if they would give me like a 24 hour warning lol. I want to work on leveling up tailoring but if I am likely to get banned in a day then why bother.
What exactly was the pop up message? You were booted or you were reported? Getting booted from a dungeon is nothing to worry about.
I got a message from a player. I was afk for no longer than five minutes and the bot was running pretty well... The message was "we all reporting u for botting lol, have fun being banned =)". I was just standing there in the middle of a room in Blackrock Caverns. I wasn't running nonstop or glitching out going back and forth quick. Hopefully it was just bullshit (but I don't know how quick somebody reviews the "report" option). When I sat back down after reading the message getting ready to type saying something like I had to use the pooper (sorry lol), I was DC. I waited about a minute, refreshing my email waiting for the ban email I hear so much about and nothing showed up so I logged back in and have been leveling by hand and man does this suck lol.
If they reported you the bot was obviously not running well It's still a test release and most of the bot bases are still fucked up and going crazy, I wouldn't even go afk for 1 minute at the moment tbh...
Lol I think they were more pissed off that I was just standing there. Right now I am leaning towards it was bs because that was two and a half hours ago now... I think blizz is well enough staffed that they would ban quicker? Shrug. Guess its manual leveling from 84 to 90 =(
a ban can take up to .. 6 months my friend ... even longer , instant bans are not the way of blizzard
fukem, happens to my hunter all the time. i just act like i dont speak english. or start cursing them. either way if there is an investigation blizzard will see i do a lot of manual things with my toons all day long and can clearly see im not running like a bot. however, as stated above, we are in a test release and probably should lay low on afk botting. i do run gatherbuddy hours at a time. i was selling darkmoon rogue decks a couple weeks ago and had a pair of farmers running the same profile for over 40 hours straight. i still have over 10k midnight inks. id vendor them if i werent such a tight ass.
stuff like that you can easily appeal. Player reports are almost always unbanned (unless you get multiple bans on same account).. they have no evidence, just someones word.
This was what I was wondering. Do GM's have to actively spy on you in real-time to order a ban, or can they go through logs and such and make a determination that way? Also, what gets a player banned right away (I'm assuming player reports) vs getting banned via a ban-wave that happens once in a blue-moon.
No one can confirm (1) when that report will be investigated and when (2) an action if any will be enforced.
You don't understand how bans work. You don't get banned just because someone reported you. Imagine how many retards in game are constantly reporting each other. When you get reported, a GM is going to investigate you. If he times his investigation and you're not botting, he will see that you are playing manually and will not have any reason to ban you. But if he investigates you and catches you botting and you are AFK, then he records it as solid evidence and it can never be appealed. My suggestion in this case would be to not bot for a coupe of weeks. GMs get a fuckload of different reports and i suspect there is a huge backlog until someone has the time to check your character. I sometimes load up Gatherer and run some lame, public profiles 24/7 for days, maybe a week. Then i log off and don't touch these accounts for a couple of weeks. And they never get banned. It's all about timing - not getting GM catching you online botting.
This. If you create a regular support ticket it takes days for a GM to get back to you. I suspect it's also the case with player reports.
