Agreed. I have developed commercial software that no doubt had its fair share of bugs, but I would never dream of having my users go through that much effort to report bugs. The fact that my users would report bugs via e-mail or my forums was more than enough for me, and I would compensate them with various perks for helping me out. I hope the developers don't take what mezz0 and I say the wrong way; we're just trying to get the point across that the current system just isn't practical.

PvP has been addressed by the customers MANY MANY times.

They KNOW the problems but they seem to ignore the PvP feature.

Screenshot, or it didn't happen. <very very big smile>

The point being is things get lost in the shuffle, or in the software development world "overcome by events" (OBE is actually a term used in many bugtracking systems). With all the releases we've had in Honorbuddy in the recent weeks there have been many such 'events', so its hard to know what's still a problem and what isn't.

PvP has received some love recently. Fixing of meshes in SotA and fixing that "BG level limited to 81" thing. So, without a bug report with specifics, I'd say Honorbuddy was good to go with PvP. Everything I've seen mentioned has been repaired.

Please quit being vague and provide specifics... and not here either, but to Bugtracker. If the problem still exists.

Help to actually make Honorbuddy better, and quit simply throwing vague complaints. People that are busy writing bug reports in Bugtracker are taking precedence over your complaints in the forum. Its as simple as that.

      cheers,
      CJ

If Honorbuddy was running and this is a result of your restarting it, you might need to open Task Manager and make sure there isn't a stray, invisible Honorbuddy still running in the background.

Other than that, this Wiki page...
      [wiki]Buddy products: Solving Authentication Problems[/wiki]

[Edit 11-Dec-2010 15:20UTC] I was just informed that the Authentication system has been overhauled in the recent releases of Honorbuddy. Thus, the Wiki page above is out of date and may have bad information on it. I'll try to get it re-written in the next few days. Sorry for any mis-information I may have conveyed.

      should help.

      cheers,
      CJ

As you stated earlier that your a unix support I will let this slide but you know microsoft has had a bugtracker in their os's for years.

Surely HB isnt the only company to expect consumers to post bugs.

The highest things on our priority list, are crashes, DCs, and stuff like that.

We do fix other bugs along the way (I usually fix a crash, then 3 bugs, a crash, 3 more bugs, etc)

We don't have a "hard-set" system of which bugs are dealt with first. Crashes and DCs are always the first to be fixed.

Since PVP 'works' (last I checked, it was running around fine, I may be wrong though), it's gone back down to the low end of the list.

If you have something specific to add, please, do so. Giving us general blanket statements like "PVP is broken, it doesn't move" doesn't help anybody, especially us.

@mezz0 & Vertraag; I agree, and don't agree at the same time. We shouldn't *have* to rely on users to file bug reports. But unfortunately, it's our only choice. We've made various avenues available to people to report their issues, etc. Most of the time; it's a user error, which is fine. We included a bug submitter in HB itself to alleviate some of the issues with submitting bugs. (Give us a description, how to reproduce it, and a short summary, the rest is handled for you)

Most of the time we receive "bug reports" with nothing but 1/2 a log, or snippets of a log with no information in it. (People automatically assume 1 error message is the cause of the trouble, when most of the time the error starts a few minutes ahead of that)

Lastly, I'm not sure what kind of psychics your company employs, but we're unaware of any way to find bugs we can't... find. We rely on users to report the bugs that we can't find, so we can fix them. We test as many things as we can before releasing, but it's not until it gets let loose into the wild, that things really start popping up.

HB is now running flawlessly for me. No more crashes or errors - definitely a stable version. Keep up the good work.

Alright, to the tech support/coders/anyone who has anything to say about bugtracker and bug reports. Honorbuddy is a community driven bot, they do not have the manpower to beta test every single function of the bot and find all of the bugs themselves. This is why major companies (Such as Microsoft/Redhat/Bungie/TreyArch/InfinityWard/ (The list is endless)) hire people to test their products for them. Yes, they will sit you in a room, give you a program, and tell you to break it. And when you do, they will track what, when, why, and how it happened. Then they will come up with a fix for it. Honorbuddy doesn't have that kind of luxury. Given the scope of functions this bot performs, they need the communities help to find bugs and fix them. So if breaking things and reporting how isn't your cup of tea, don't use Honorbuddy until it comes out with a [Stable] tag.

We all know this already. That's not the point. It would just be nice if we could have the option to report bugs on the forums rather than go through the extra inconvenience of using the bug tracker. As it stands, if you report a bug on the forums, you get flamed.

I just posted more logs of the pvp movement being broken, hope you guys can take a look. It seems to only move when a target to fight is around, or after a BG starts if you leave the starting zone it will correct it self and work again for abit. If you need more logs, comment on my bug tracker - insaneblingaoo@gmail.com and the crashes seem to be after you die.

I just received a crash as well, but it definitely took a lot longer to come around this time. Same story as before - crash seemed random, tried to submit the error and it failed, etc.
