Court Upholds Ban on World of Warcraft Bot | Threat Level | Wired.com I didnt get to read all of it yet, just noticed it on google news, I am at work, figured I would share.
interesting. i've reviewed the legal documents and listened to the audio, I hope they would get back on their feet =( My glider elite is just sitting around!
Reading the opinion of Hamut (owner of Glider), it was actually a bit of a win for them. There is even an outside chance that Glider will be on sale again, but they're trying to decipher all the legal language.
Yea I still have my elite with them. Has Blizzard try to go after HB or GB yet? or is that a different story since they are based overseas?
Hamut doesn't own Glider, MDY Industries (And by extension, Mercury) does. This ruling was actually an enormous win for them. He's essentially off the hook for the $6.5 million in damages and there's a good chance Glider is coming back. However, the case has to go to the Supreme Court since the 9th circuit's ruling contradicts previous appeals rulings. Hopefully we'll have Glider while we're there though.
Never even knew glider existed before I discovered GB, played wow for a good while by hand . Would it still be competitive against GB & HB today ? G
If you guys have not noticed HB is still a work in progress and they crew has big plans for it, somthing like this takes time Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
Glider worked great i was a long time member there and it couldnt update the features because of law rules
Has people even thought what the impact would be like in Glider is allowed to re-sell?? it would destroy Blizz's multi-million pound earner and soo many people would leave the game since it would be full of botter's, Also even if Glider was to come back it would need a complete re-write and massive update, the only thing Glider has these day's is there reputation and hope that they can re-sell once again which wont happen.
wel Mercury and Hamut are good coders they know what they doing and they wil resell it again when they go live why u hate glider glider had the best tripwire protection and passive i used glider for 2 years if u read on their forums quite good they wil resell it when it comes back and ppather was good nav mesh to but ppather walking movements to
If they could get Ppather running again it would be nice... But lets be real, after all they went through would they even bother starting up again? Doubtfull.
Not really...HB is nearly as good if not better than Glider was when it ended. Even if it were allowed to resell its not going to generate a huge influx of botters. Those that want to bot have the means to do so right now and glider isn't going to instantly break down any barriers that prevent others from botting. Glider was getting close to a straight out-of-box setup that would get you up and running really easy. This allowed less technical people to start botting, but things have changed so much since then that I'm sure they would basically be starting over. Maybe not from scratch, but it wouldn't have anymore effect on WoW than bots currently do. It would just give botters an alternative program to use. It would probably hurt HB/GB if they did get a competitive product up.
Glider was certainly the best bot ever developed at its time, and had they been allowed to stay up, they would most likely be far better than HB/GB. Now, though, I believe it would require a complete re-write of the entire Glider bot and I don't think they'd be able to keep up with HB/GB... Sucks, though - still got a Glider Elite pass just waiting to be used again
o yes they wil remember in the verry beginning of Honorbuddy the one with the blue looks the verry beginning took some time to to get it as it is now they wil doing fast updates on glider
Glider (in it's final state before they had to take it down) was awesome. Ppather was great and the most beloved feature was: RaF! I have leveled so many chars with Glider's RaF and I always hoped, HB would catch up and bring this feature to a _working_ state (which it isn't). Hope that Glider comes back one day
