The discussion about cata and aoe dmg we had the last days. The best way you can handle it is to activate the interrupt cr when you press a non movement button for about 400 ms or more and handle the aoe part self. For example use DS, smash the cata mouseover hotkey, go into meta and nuke all 3 cw´s out @ Darmac pack.

But this is another tricky thing. I have had many times the problem that after my mouseover cata I switched into meta to nuke out the cw´s but the cr switched instantly back into normal form so I missed the cw part. (@ Nilrem: Do you have also such problems with manual aoeing ? Does it help to increase the pausing time to about 800 ms ?)

I don´t know but the reduction of the enemies in range helped also a little bit but for example when I put the felguard to trigger at more than 1 enemy it sometimes use the whirlwind spell and sometimes it won´t use it. I think that the cr reacts to this ability when some strong cds are up especially trinkets or DS and so on but this is ok for 1 up to 2 enemies as trigger but in a high aoe fight especially Darmac or Thogar whirlwind should instantly be used when the amount which is set is reached. Maybe changing this to use instantly when the trigger is put to 3+

@ Millz: As Decks said the aoe thing feels really strange. I like this cr because it is a great work but when it comes to play a cata specc at some fights than I really hate it :) Maybe you can change here something for better handling of aoe fights without so many manually things and of course some issues into triggering aoe and so on. Maybe you can fix here something before your wedding leave. Thanks mate

I am even more concerned about the aoe mode from destruction spec atm. It is also failing like cata and cw. Havent read the latest discussions, but this detection has been of really long now. And seems getting worse that we have to go play manually.

This used to work so good in SOO especially for destro, it raped ass.

Tried demo again today CW set to 5 targets. Not even once did it try to use CW. needed todo manually on beastmaster and thogar.

Had a fresh installation today etc.

nil - what I am trying to get at is that good cata usage CAN be auto if the CR allowed more specific fine tuning for exactly what we want to use it on and in what form. If we could specify either HP ranges OR exclusions/inclusions for mob-id's, we could tell the CR which packs we want to use cata on and in which form. The CR can be encounter specific just like you have donotdamage aura lists, the same type of coding could be done to really get amazing results on full auto mode for "do not cata" "do not Doom" etc. There are only a few packs of significance in the entire BRF raid which will be relevant for a long time, so the time it would take to make encounter or mob-specific coding would be well worth it considering there is already code for do not DOT auras and such. Sticking to the same example as beastlord, we don't need any experimentation of the current settings, we already know how this fight is done. You should normal cata the packs and fury dump the bosses. You should Doom and Corrupt the spears regardless of whether it's considered low HP enough. If we used mob-id's for the lists we would not have to change profiles every boss, if we were given specific HP ranges we want to use Doom on Cata it would still need to be adjusted per boss but it would still be more accurate than the current state. The CR is already excellent but it could be better if you add just a few encounter specific codes or allowed the user to do so.

For this fight no matter what HP setting you have for Doom, the pack beasts should never be Doomed even though they have 1.2M HP, and vice versa for the heavy spears. If there was a setting to allow specific HP ranges the user can set, it would Doom and cata perfectly on auto even for a complete noob player who doesn't even know what demo is. You could get world ranked numbers with players not touching a single button if we could specify HP ranges for Doom targets and every pack in the raid. So I would disagree that Auto Cata is a no no. It is a no no in the current form, but it COULD be auto very well with minor changes to the user configuration or even embed it into the CR itself. It would take a little more work to do mob-specific coding so it cata'd the packs perfectly in the right form every time, and it Doomed the spears no matter what setting the user may have done incorrectly - all of us experienced players know this is how you do the fight, we just have to do it manually. I understand your TTD calculations are different than other CR's and maybe better, but it will never be more reliable than mob-id or custom HP range settings (which is the same as mob-id, we would just put in the HP range of the add in question). Mob HP and Mob-id's are static and never wrong, and we know already exactly which ones to use which spell on.

If the CR gave me HP range settings for Doom and Cata, I could setup full clears of BRF without touching a single key other than my movement (and so could you obviously). I know most people don't like encounter specific or mob specific coding since they think it's "temporary" and using other universal algorithms in theory it could apply for multiple expansions. But the reality of it is, BRF will be relevant for many months. Even after the high end guilds like yours and mine are way past it, we will be selling carries for months and casuals will be doing it for several months even after that. Creating "aura lists" of mob-id's to be Cata'd and which form to use would be helpful for at least the next year or longer. If this is too much work, if you give me the option of just using HP ranges, I could tell the CR exactly what to Doom and Cata for all of HM and BRF. This will be very useful especially once I'm selling carries over and over to let me customize the CR to do everything right by itself when I'm no longer playing for real but just making money selling carries. And again for all the more casual players which makes up the vast vast majority of the WoW population these changes would just make them all play better and make this awesome routine perform even better.

The time it takes you to keep posting and reporting recommended settings is already more than it would take to just put in these aura lists or HP range configurations :)

Again I appreciate all the great work you and Millz put into this, and this is just my opinion on how to make it even better.

I keep seeing people have problems with this and I have not experienced any aoe problems after 6.1. I suggest you try pooling your CW/ HOG charges, which you should be doing anyway. On thogar there is really only one time when you want to use HOG instead of CW so it might be helpful if you try something like setting hog to 100 ( so it is never used ) and then setting CW to 4 or 5. This is what I do and then I utilize HOG manually during the 2 times when there is no adds for more then the time it takes for the 3 charges to recharge. If you have 3 charges of CW it will use them immediately. If you have less then 3 it can sometimes wait until 3 are there and then burst with all 3. Doing this - I am currently in the top 50 for the heroic version of this fight.

For me it has nothing todo with pooling it up. It has 3 stacks and is just not using it. since i can manually use it means it is not blocked by meta form or so.
As the same problem is going on with destruction, something else is up.

What I found on Beastlord, is that I had to set the # of targets to cast CW on at 1-2 BELOW what I wanted, so if I want to cast on 4, I set it to 3.
This solved most issues for me

Currently using these for my mythic progress 4/10 working great on "aoe" bosses and multi-target fights however single target fights im alot lower than the other warlock - almost 10k less. Does anyone have any good settings for single target bosses or any idea why its sooo much lower - currently 683itemlvl warlock - with alot of BiS gear.

ANY help would be really greatful.

      thanks!!!!

About cata and CW trick on darmac you figured it out good, that is what I do but after cata is casted I start to move and use my mouse button to switch to meta form. Demonic won't go out of meta while you're moving and it has fury for it so it will cast 3x CW if you have charges. Doing around 70k+ on mythic darmac with this trick :D

Hey all.. our guild is progressing on Heroic blast Furnace.. They are calling people out for damage done on the Primals..
My question is when the burst hotkeys are enabled.. What is the CR doing? What I mean is what is the process is goes though during this phase?

i could not get it working that way, if ur not in a phase to burst with the right CDs up, the right amount of fury, etc, hitting a burst hotkey does nothing. the best way to do this fight is to set very high limits on fury dumping so you will always have at least half of a full bar whenever you need it. unless millz/nil want's to do encounter specific and mob specific coding, i just make sure there is always high fury and tons of MC stacks (set it to like 9), hit Enyo Pause hotkey, meta key, SF dump on the primals. if you set the MC and fury settings very high you will always have enough to manually burst. the burst hotkey cannot do this for you. it literally is 3 button presses though so very easy: pause, meta, SF spam for ~10 secs, un-pause. if you are on progression you have to expect to help the CR at least a little :) and of course you toggle AE off during P2 of this fight or it will spend a ton of GCDs refreshing dots on the whole map instead of killing the right targets. again, this is the player's responsibility to do. you still need to understand the encounter and what the CR is expected to do.

if you just dumped ur fury right before to activate the primal, when you press burst what options does Millz have for you to burst? (none really unless you consider spamming SF in human form burst).

Burst hotkey is for PvP only. Aka hit it and destroy a target, it does nothing in PvE. If you want more DPS use the disable CD hotkey and manually use them/save them for the Primals.

The majority of the unit detection checks count the number of units which can be hit from within 10 yards around our current target's location (adjusts for hit box sizes etc).

The code for this hasn't changed since SoO. Chances are it's just because the units are outside of that 10 yard (+ combat reach/hit box) range of the target.

      Great stuff!

It shouldn't be too much work to get minimum HP values added for Cataclysm - added this to my to-do list. Specifying mob ID's to cast Cata on would be a significant amount of work.

It is a case most like that mobs dance in and out the center.

Tried some demo and destro tests today and ran a few lfr Iron Assembly runs for beastlord and choo choo.

I did these tests after a new OS , HB installation. So it should not be a personal pc issue.

I used 3 targets on CW, cata and pet, odd thing is that my pet's aoe is used every time but fails to use cata or cw on time or never uses it.

After a few tries started going more manual for aoe part and shitting out +70 k dps on beastlord, was even doing 100 k + for a long time on choo choo.

Any chance increasing the range a bit to solve this slow or no detection of adds? Seems a few people are playing semi manually for this kind of fights due detection issue's anyway.

      Cheers D

Thanks Millz! This might sound weird, but HP ranges would be more specific than just minimum HP because it would be just as specific as using mob-id without the complexity of coding the ID's (although there are very few packs in BRF that would require special treatment, so you would only need to code in like 4 mob-ID's that deserve special treatment which I could give you if you wanted to do it this way). We could just wowhead the pack's in question and put in that specific HP range. The only reason I mention this is for fights such as Beastlord the packs have 1.2M HP which normally you WOULD Doom, but because of how the fight plays out everyone full cleaves the packs so Doom would never tic. The Heavy Spears have 1.0M HP so it's very close to the pack beast HP's, yet it SHOULD be fully dotted every time. When there are adds that are semi close in HP, but the spells used to handle them are completely opposite, having only the minimum number set isn't specific enough to make it perform properly. (if you set it at 900k so it Dooms all the spears like it should, the pack beasts would also fit the criteria and might get Doomed on accident which would be a dps/fury loss and also make your raid members think why the hell did this lock cast Doom on a pack that will die in 5 secs). I know you can limit some of this by setting max number of Doom targets but this is still not optimal because say you set it at 5-7 like most people do, anytime the boss is pulled past a spear it is immediately cleaved down reducing the total targets, and some guilds clean up spears between mini bosses because it takes just several secs to setup a cleaner map for P3, or if a player gets hit by a spear of course everyone kills it. There will be situations where the number of mobs up will dip below your Max Doom target setting and it will start casting Doom on the pack beasts if there is no way to exclude them. The only way to prevent this is coding by HP range and not just minimum HP, or by adding certain mobs to the "do not dot aura list" which I thought you already had coded for other reasons (like in PVP I think I've seen the logs report do not DOT when a target is in sheep or something like that). If you've already coded this and it's a matter of just inserting the mob-id's applicable in BRF, it is just a few that matter.

Having only minimum HP settings we can't tell the CR to specifically never Doom a pack beast, and to never Cata a group of spears that the boss is close to making it meet the criteria for casting Cata. If we had HP ranges this would never happen, it would only cata when it detects mobs set at 1.1-1.3M HP (for mythic pack beasts), and it would only Doom targets set at 900k - 1100k (mythic spears)and basically perform flawlessly.

Another example is on Furnace, in P2 basically none of the adds should have Doom casted on them but in P1 all the adds should have it casted; and there are tons of adds with high HP so it would meet the criteria for Doom from almost anyone's settings; but you can't just raise the Doom limit super high because in P1 they should be Doomed and you can't just change Doom settings on the fly (technically you could but it would be clumsy and risky to change settings and start/stop the bot mid-fight). On P2 only corruption should be used on them to build fury and SB spam since the only important part of this whole encounter is pooling Fury/MC to burst the Primal Elementalist each time it's shield is down. If the CR tries to keep Doom up on the adds, that wastes way too much fury for useless damage, and you may not have enough fury left to burst the Primals (which other users are already posting they are having trouble with and being called out by their raid leaders, I just have to pause and manual this part but there are many users who don't even bind their class keys so rely on the CR completely :) ). The problem with just toggling off AE altogether is that in P1 everything should be Doomed, and in P2 and P3 the adds can be corrupted just to slowly kill them while generating tons of fury, and when you toggle off AE it toggles off both corruption and Doom. If we could put in HP *RANGES* we could force the CR to perfectly pick the right Doom targets. In the current state with no exceptions or do not Doom aura lists, it will even Doom mobs with damage immunity auras up which is easily picked up by players in high end progression guilds and will call you out. (There's rarely more than 1 or 2 Locks in mythic guilds so it's pretty obvious who did it :)

Hope this makes sense and isn't too hard to code. And thanks again!

No, the packs will not get doomed because first of all cata is high priority and it will cast it first before dooming anything. Second this is why we have TTD, it sees that mobs are dieing fast so it won't doom them. My minimum is set to 1M for doom and it properly dots the spears and doesn't dot adds. So there is no point in complicating the routine and making everyone do different setup for dots on each boss.

No there will not, with even 1 warlock in raid this won't ever happen, if this happens by some coincidence then that raid won't kill the boss, even a boomkin alone drops pack bests down so fast that you're below TTD treshold for casting Doom.

You should have Doom on all viable targets in all phases. Doom does not only do damage but procs wild imps that shoot your MC stacks to the roof and then you can spam it on elementalists by simply spamming a button on your keyboard when shield goes down (enable "manual cast detection" in hotkeys and put delay to about 400-500ms) you will top damage on that fight and you will make your tank that is tanking guards on the side easy job since doom does nice damage to guards and helps them die faster. Your wild imps will nuke your current target so doom contributes a lot to the damage. Not even going to mention entering phase 3 with a horde of wild imps makes boss melt. If you wanna really top damage on elementalists then I suggest you spec Demonbolt, but then it just means your raid is failing since 60% of other classes have much better single target burst.
And btw I'm raiding mythic with another lock in my raid, we are topping meters (him playing manually) and never had a problem with any kind of damage or multidotting. Our RL even told everyone to not touch the spears so locks can gain fury/imps from it. It all comes down to how good your raid is.
