Once, I hit level 15, I couldn't get the quest profile to work anymore. However, after I did the dungeons associated with the mount quest the 15-50 questing profile started working again.
Well, yeah. The bot doesn't have the ability to run dungeons, and probably won't for a long time. You'll always have to manually run those when the questline reaches that point.
I have run into a lot more problems with this quest profile. It continually gets lost, and there is no easy way to find where it was supposed to go next. I spent so much time looking up places that the bot was supposed to go that I could have gained at least an extra 5 levels by now. It needs a lot of work before a beginner can simply turn it on and expect it to work.
If the profile does not work, then the bot does not work. I don't buy bots just so I can fix them. LOL!
Kick's 1-100 profiles still have issues occasionally. Following your logic, should those of us who use HB stop using it? You're not going to win this debate.
The bot does like to get lost, but for 30 bucks, you get a whole lot of utility. The mining profile alone justifies my investment, but the opportunities are endless. I'm really new to botting, but the way I see it. We're paying for the infrastructure. The framework. It's like buying a highway. You still have to find a car to maximize your potential, but the groundwork is the real purchase. I guess I could see people buying bots for very specific intentions, but then I also feel that it's the responsibility of the purchaser to investigate. I like analogies. If I want to eat salmon, I don't go to a Mcdonalds, and bitch that they don't sell decent seafood. Reborn Buddy has public forums, and the community is more than helpful. If you want specifics--you can easily investigate yourself! 30 bucks is really cheap for what we get. I would be more demanding if I paid 300 dollars, but for 30? Please... We get a lot!
The questing profile has it's quirks but overall it has saved me a bunch of time. Don't leave it away for a long time, you're just asking for trouble then.
The difference is, Kick's profiles are still being developed. He did not simply lay his profiles aside once he finished. I've been using Kick's profiles ever since WoLK. I understand that there are potential problems with it. I remember having to watch the bot closely in MoP because the mesh wasn't right. But, Kick told us there were problems and let us know he was working on it. Furthermore, when Kick released a profile it did not break near as often as these profiles. On Rebornbuddy, Kagamihiiragi17 tries to tell me that the quest profile works "PERFECT," and he acts like it's my fault when I state that it does not work "perfectly" for me. Even your statement above admits that there are problems with the Questline. I just want Kagamihiiragi17 to admit it and quit blaming it on me! Obviously, from this thread I can tell that others have had problems with it (similar to Kick's) but nobody else is complaining when this guy says it is "perfect." It is not perfect. It needs work. BTW, I sent money to Kick several times when he was working on profiles to update them for new expansions. I would be happy to do the same here if things were different. But, telling me that it's all my fault gives me the impression that even sending a log would be a waste of time.
... and these questing profiles are no longer in development? I'd love to see that evidence. Without posting a log with details of specific issues, there's nothing to revised and push as an update unless Kagami gets the time to work on it personally. Kick does state there are or could be issues with the profiles, but so did/does Kagami. Because you refuse to post a log so that Kagami can look for where things are going wrong, there's little anyone can do to help resolve your issues; hence the "it must be user error" response you're getting from Kagami. To quote Kagami's original post when the 15-50 profile was pushed: I hardly interpret that as saying the profile is flawless and will not be revised when bugs/errors are found. As for the 1-15 profiles, I've ran them multiple times with little to zero issues. If you come across an issue, you should always post a log with a description of your issue. Sure, it may not be addressed right away, just like Kick's profiles (I still see bugs that I reported months ago that have yet to be addressed, but I don't post complaints about it not being addressed, I just do that quest manually and continue the profile). Here's an example of an issue I posted about for Kick's profiles that I ran into on a new character just last week that was archived months ago (aka, still a bug/issue): https://www.thebuddyforum.com/archi...cks-posts-thread-delete-3071.html#post1772358
I did not send log files because I resolved my own issues. The issue that keeps repeating is that the bot gets lost if you have to turn it off to go do repairs or to check the market board. It does not go back to where it left off. If it winds up in the wrong zone, then it stops. Kick's profiles can usually pick up right where you need to be (within 2 or 3 levels) no matter if you just finished questing by hand (which I have not done with Rebornbuddy). I am just saying, that it was not what I expected, and it took me a long time to read the logs and look up the new locations. I did it, but I was frustrated that it kept happening. Now, I know to set the current town as my home before I go anywhere. When I started, I did not even know that it was possible to set a "home." At least if I set the current location to "home," I can find my way back without having to read the log file and go to the internet to study a map. I was totally unfamiliar with the game at the time. I could not even find my way around Ul'dah because I was so new to the game. If you look at this from the perspective of a new player, then perhaps you can understand why I was so frustrated. I have a question, and a possible solution: Why is it that the Fatebot and Grinding profiles can port a character to the location where he needs to be, but the questing profile gets lost? Perhaps it would be helpful if the Questing profile set each new area as "home" before beginning quests. Then, if it gets lost it can simply port "home." The Fatebot, I give an A! It works great! The Grinding profiles, I give an A! The Class Quests and Job Quests, I give an A! But, excuse me for saying that the rest of the Questing profile needs work before it will be user friendly for new players.
Comparing RB to HB isn't exactly equal given the differences in population and longevity. Quest profiles are among the more difficult types to write, and we literally have a single community developer working on 1-50 questing. If you're troubles with that profile, then post in that thread with logs so he can work on it. Making this thread just seems to serve no purpose. Personally, I question why you're botting before you even know how to navigate the map. Not to miss the point, but you're going to run in problems in any game if you try to bot that way.
I've only been playing the game for 1 month, so trust me, I know the struggle. HB has been developed for years with up to dozens of developers at any given point, so I would use much more scrutiny with their coding than RB with only 1 active developer. There are zone ID checks throughout typical Order Bot profiles, but it really all depends on how much time has been spent on them. Typically, if you're familiar with HB Quest Order profiles, the zone checks are only at the beginning of a zone questline, not between every single quest tag. That would require an incredible amount of time to spend on profiles, but over time, I'm sure more zone ID checks will be added to ensure the bugs/issues will be limited to a minimum - again, it will require time and if only one person is working on a profile pack, it may take longer than anyone would prefer. An example of a zone ID check is as follows: This could help you figure out where your character should be in the event you run into zone issues, but only IF a zone ID check is there, which may not be the case. There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism - it's welcomed. I believe the issue that came up was the whole back-and-forth that was going on. Given due time, I'm certain RB will be as user-friendly as we'd all like it to be, but for the meantime, the base toolkit is there to complete a number of tasks if you know what you're doing. While it's not optimal to ask new player or people unfamiliar with RB to learn the ropes the hard way, in these somewhat early stages of RB (if you're looking long-term), we'll just have to put our nose to the grindstone for a bit. I'm certain the community is willing to take that journey with you if you're interested.
I explicitly say not to do this. I explicitly say to attach logs so I can fix issues in the profile, if you fix them yourself that doesn't help anyone else. FFXIV is not WoW, we don't have the luxury of having all the zones on the same map for easy navigation. There is no way to navigate from wherever you might be to where you need to be if it is on a different map. Please read the posts in the beginning of the thread detailing how to use the profiles before using them. For you, this section would be especially important:
