Click -> My Tentative PC build I was hoping my friends at BuddyForum would help me pick a good build for my next PC. I am not positive that all the pieces would work together, specifically the processor (should I go for an i7 quad-core?) and MOBO. I'm planning on using this for college and one WoW. Help me out? EDIT: I noticed the case comes with a few fans; should I get more? Thanks, Bothead
it looks fine, and should be more then able to do everything you need it to do, the only questionable thing i see is your Dual Core - Core I5. i would instead of going for a Unlocked, dual - core, go with a 4 core. i mean it wouldn't matter, at least with the fast dualcore you'll still have that upgrade path down the road if you wanna stick a 6 core in there. but unless your over clocking, (and for most people you wouldnt) why spend the extra money on the unlocked multiplier? if you do plan on over clocking your going to need an after market cooler, just to be on the safe side, but no something i would, like i said recommended doing for the life of the system. or maybe ive had bad experience. hope my post made since, kinda felt like i was looping there.
I have a core i7 920 on a Gigabyte ex58 board. Originally 6GB Ocz DDR3, now 12GB. I removed all regular HDD and now run a OCZ vertex 2 120gb. For videocard I use an older evga geforce 295 gtx, which is more then enough for wow. I only run 3 bots, the above system has way more power then it needs for the bots. You can happily play another game, watch a movie or do pretty much anything you want while botting wow.
Thank you very much! I think I will upgrade to the Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor BX80601950 Am I overlooking any pieces?
For just wow and college, frankly you can get by with just a core2duo. If you want to future proof, I'd go amd tbh with a tri-core or something and unlock the 4th core. But, I'm a nerd and, do things the nerdy way. Anyhoo, to answer, go i7 for future proofing. Otherwise all seems fine, but I'm drunk and wouldn't trust my own word.
Solid State HD - just needed to see that and you can see you have your shit together - looks like a nice build. Good Luck.
