Hi, i just upgraded my graphics card to ZOTAC GeForce GTS 450, thinking it would increase my ingame FPS and such, am i wrong to assume this as it doesnt appear to have increased my fps at all, unless i havent properly installed/updated it. i manually installed it myself, and it seems to work, as i can see my display, but in game experince hasn't really changed. Any thoughts?

Make sure you installed the correct drivers from GeForce. Like you should have an nvidia control center. Also your memory is important, how much RAM do you have?

If your RAM is low, no matter how good of a graphics card FPS can still be low. Report back how much you have empty and there is also a program called Game Booster (does a hell of a job).

i think i have 2GB ram, is that enough to increase my FPS, and i do have the nvidia control centre, but i haven't downloaded anything as of yet, only used the complementary disc to install the driver.

WoW runs on an old engine which is very CPU bound. What CPU do you have because it's most likely bottlenecking your card.

computers are similar to any other machine, there are things that you can upgrade and be pretty good, but then your machine won't perform great without other things replaced.

If you're having lag, lower your settings or replace the mobo/cpu. It's a definite performance increase

He's having issues with frame rate, not lag. I'll assume you're not familiar with overclocking so I would recommend picking up another 2GB memory and a new CPU off eBay (second hand). You can get something decent for under ?100 and now is the perfect time to do this since a lot of people will be flogging their 775 gear for the new Sandy Bridge platform due next week.

GTS 450 is a DirectX 11 card. WoW performs MUCH better when in DirectX 11 mode with a DirectX 11 card.

Unfortunatelly, HB doesn't support DX11 yet (Apoc said it's in the works, so hope for the best).

Intel is the only "make" you can use with your motherboard. Go for a quick dual core rather than a quad if it's only for gaming; something like an e8400 would suffice.

iky, i suggest that you go to the main hb thread and look at the code that tells you how to enable d3d9, and replace that with d3d11 :)

SET gxAPI "d3d11" in your config.wtf (either replace the current gxapi, or if there is none, simply add it)
