Hey I recently returned to wow and started my subscription THE DAY the bot went down. Meaning I got to level 95 and now refuse to play because I wont do boring ass quests. That is besides the point... ANYWAAAAY... I really expected the value of wow tokens to shoot through the roof when the bot went down as no one is farming illegally. If you look at wowtokens website the price has just frozen and is actually going down slightly... I am very confused. Wondering what everyones opinion is on the subject? https://wowtoken.info/
By immediate assumption, it leads one to believe Blizzard was manually regulating the tokens prior to the banwave so it wouldn't flucuate 'too' much - trying to keep it on or near that median. Not much of a surprise.
Precisly, my mind is blown by the majority of people that think that players are actually setting the value of wow tokens and that players are the only one's buying them. Blizzard is buying the large majority of the tokens sold.
Blizzard is moderating the token price and availability since launch. The above was discussed here several times recently, like this thread: 6.2 and WoW tokens prediction. - Page 2. They are using it to tank several ideas around the corner, including moderation to all the casual goldsellers, effective legalization on the goldbuying and volunteering account flag for these, dared to buy the tokens ingame. The latest WoWToken graphics just proves this fact - with the recent quite a few suspension delivered around, the most craft and farm items on the AH on all realms increased or even doubled in price. And obviously the WoWToken ingame buyers would decrease dramatically in numbers! So in common market model, this should hit the Token seller pretty hard, in both token selling duration and price. But this never happened, since the market is heavy moderated and dictated.
Didn't need the "Period" on the end for emphasis. What I found really odd was that prior to may 14th the prices seemed to go up and down on a daily basis. Since the ban wave the prices haven't moved at all. It is as if someone in the office decided to suddenly get a tighter grip on the prices.
you guys honestly thought after they banned all the gold sellers, markets crashed and prices skyrocketed and the demand for gold exploded, with blizzard now being the only one selling gold that they would honestly let players buy a crap ton of coins for gold so they could get their in game items, and blizzard would let the token value drop due to over saturation in the market? of course they are buying up all the tokens to keep the price where no to much gold is flooding the game but where its enough to make it worth people buying them. they are simply monopolizing the gold market to increase the sales of their new cash cow as they probably attempt to go "free to play" in a sense to keep competitive with other mmo's kind of a we're free to play!! if you have the gold for it.. which you dont! but lucky for you we offer a wow coin so you can have the gold!! and for those of you who havent looked into 6.2 alot of it is gold driven.
They are probably manually changing it, they banned all those people that were buying them with all of their farmed gold, no way in hell it wouldn't fluctuate at all if they weren't manually changing it.
This was all planned for a while Blizzard knew what they were doing of course they will have to manipulate the market for the very thing they are trying to sell and they call us cheaters lol?
It is kind of hard to know the outcome since Blizzard has manipulated the market here but I can see how prices would go up since there would be less demand for wow tokens, everyone has bought out the ah prices go up, you don't need a bot to generate gold. What goes down must go up, well looking at that graph it's one hell of a straight line lol
with no botters farming boes, there is nothing to spend purchased gold on. less supply. ofc if i actually believed that this wasnt artificial supply and demand created by blizzard to justify their selling gold. can you imagine for a moment the shit storm that would explode if blizzard actually announced they were going to sell gold, after they banned gold sellers for the last 10 years. hypocrite much?
Yeah they are just as dirty as Trion now in my books, at least this shows the public how pathetic Blizzard really is, I am glad these forums are open to the public
It has to hurt their economics banning +160K user accounts so I am sure you guys are onto something. I wonder if they are losing any subscription revenue from the ban, I do know this is a way to reduce the pop on their server farms as I am sure that has to be an added opportunity to drop user counts on heavily loaded population servers. I also read someplace that they lost more than 3Mil user accounts over the past 6 months as well as many have not renewed their subscriptions. Has anyone else noticed anything with the realms since big bust and accounts wound up in WoW jail?
Edited the "Period" On the question - if you take a loot at the whole graph since day one - it gives nothing related to real demand/supply market model, so it is just an poorly drawn "artwork" by some intern in the Blizzard's office, trying to look like a real market graph. In the first days it was linear, then they gave it some slight curves for a week, since the last 2 weeks before the suspensions, the graph was getting to look much better in the curves, but still the amplitudes (the top and bottom peaks) was completely random and unreasonable. Anyway, the flatted-out graph since 13th of may bring just 2 variants: Either they have hardcoded some real-market data into the graph, probably heavy modified - but this seems very unlikely. Or they simply want to draw some "message" to the community with it. Next time, pal, try to read the essence of the whole thread before throwing out-of-context logic here. I would rather wait for Obama administration to announce that they have contacted with Aliens in the past, instead of Blizzard admit their gold-selling business. If the last happen, the whole Anti "Pay to Win" hoax Blizzard irradiates us with, will collapse! The most top realms used to be Full to High, now they appear as High to Medium - In rush hours vs sleeping hours. The same apply with the Medium realms, now they are Low on the off-rush hours, with all the botting accounts removed.
dev 1-hey, that looks pretty spiky. dev 2-what do you want it to look like? dev 1-less spiky. dev 2- /facepalms and turns down the 'randomisation' knob.
I don't see anything here that can't be explained with some note taking and time to examine the data. That the prices fluctuate less dramatically right now makes sense. The Supply and demand has stabilized rather than be artificially impacted by us botters. Something nobody ever brings up, but the token wasn't just to combat gold sellers/buyers. It is also a way of enticing back the large population of people who play on private servers. I could never speculate accurately, but its probably more people than ever used HB at its peak. (total guess here just speaking from a general knowledge and experience) I think blizzard is not artificially managing token prices. I think the process at blizzard is much as they put forward that it is. I think Blizzards biggest misdirections come in the form of shifting blame for botting/gold selling/bg farming and anything else bad on to account scammers and hackers. They have most people thinking botting for casual players is small potatoes. At least they did before they banned so many casual people and showed everyone how saturated the game really is... just some of my opinions, but I think we are too quick to make assumptions complicated. Often times the most simple explanation is the true one.
