64 bit client that hooks into directx instead would be a safer approach.

Who's going to stop them, you? Ever wonder why they don't EVER give out information on what they did?

Let us all know how it turns out, im sure you have blizz shaking in their boots.

Yes, so hard for blizzard to add checks to the 64 bit client. Bosslands post must have made them laugh so hard already, don't take blizzards breath, give them a break.

I dont post much but i am thankful I took a few months off I just decided to come back updated HB launched it tripwire popped I logged here and caught up on everything. But I must admit there is so much hate that I think is misplaced HB staff has said they dont know what actually detected it because logically they dont know. They will likely never know so if your waiting for that move on. They might have targeted lua or speculation is at best just that. The fact is if they singled out HB users on there own it would have been extremely noticeable blizzard made a educated guess and did a mass ban wave to send a message to HB they can detect it if they want too. But they cant pinpoint it or we would all be screwed every single person to have used HB would be banned. This is common sense. I dont know if you follow other bots but I do HB was not the only target. Also the likely hood of another ban wave is unlikely a 9 million over 6 months loss is enough to notice. But lets face it blizzards stock price are at a all time high. So figure they start 100k accounts light next quarter and currently are losing more players then gaining. They cant afford another massive ban wave. Funny thing about a publicly traded company the stock holders have more say in the matter then the board members.

If you believe that the malware detection was how they found it, could you tell us how to completely remove honorbuddy from our computers.

Pattern matching in the most popular profiles. Run a profile 1000 times, a pattern develops of x-y coordinates. Someone follows within standard deviation closely to that pattern, they get flagged. To increase probability, slight changes in the game environment have been (since these profile were created), which will cause the bot to hang up in predictable ways.... It's simply probability after that.

They don't need to track the program. If you ever want to bot safely again, build your own profile and don't distribute them publicly.

How do I know this is what they've done? Because it's exactly how I'd beat honorbuddy. Implementing randomization will be how you beat Blizzard in the future.

Nope. I used the same profile for the last 5 months, at least 8 hours a day, very heavy server with about 20 people using the same exact profile as me on that server, and no ban.

I doubt they can pinpoint it. According to the replies I got from the GMs none said anything about third party software. The only thing I can assume is that I fit the bot pattern as I was using easy free profiles without scouting the area.
Honestly my suspension is my fault as I did not take the precautions necessary.

I still have my lifetime key so by all means I will be back. Smarter and a bit more cautious than before!

My theory is that they found a couple easy to recognize bots and trailed them, then matched with more flagged players until they found the main bulk. I swear sitting outside Guldrak you can watch people running in and out, dropping guild chests/mount up, then dive back in about every 6 minutes or so. Admittedly we got greedy, and now we have to pay.

As I don't believe it was a full detection, it is fairly safe to bot still. Just bear in mind HB is in the spotlight right now with all the forums and gaming websites talking about the banwave and HB itself.
It's never fully safe to bot, so just take caution and work carefully as we test the new release to see what is going on Blizzard side.

I love the botting community too much. As it turned out a few of my guildies bot or know botters so they don't mind my suspension. They just want a cut of the action as they hate the BS farming too. In 6 months I'll be on fishing and cooking duty for feasts lol!

You can take a look here in the Privacy topic: Warden (software) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Even after Wikipedia is not the most reliable source, it is still a milestone.

Or this almost 10years old news: BBC NEWS | Technology | Warcraft game maker in spying row, which sounds so reasonable this week!

And answer to yourself, do you think Blizzard can be trusted to not violate the rules? I doubt, as long as they take the precautions to get caught while cheated, and they are quite confident that would get away.

Honorbuddy can prove pattern theory. Do a survey among (pre-existing) registered users who got banned, stating the top 3 profiles used. The only one I used was KICK's.

I will note a particularly suspect LUA error I received on pressing start that crashed the game client. On reload it would be gone and all would be well. It happened literally every time I loaded wow fresh, the 3-4 times I botted a. few weeks ago .. (which was first time in over 6 months+). The fact it resolved itself after a crashing once consistently, leads me to believe they may have been intercepting the start hook

I'm glad to hear HB will be up again soon.
I won't be playing for the duration of the ban and might not even come back after it, unless Blizz improves the content of the game, even 6.2 on the PTR feels the same to me as the original expansion and 6.1.
On all the speculations, I'd like to say that in the response of my appeal it said:
It might be scare-tactics or a bluff, but I just want to throw it out there.
If it was up to me I would have waited with releasing HB until after the launch of 6.2, if only to give Blizz the idea that there was no solution to be found. But I understand the statement this will make as well.
Just before the ban-wave I had created a new account and had to click an accept button to allow Blizz to perform scans on my computer. This is also mentioned in their legal documentation so I doubt how much a lawsuit would benefit anyone trying to make a court case out of this. But I'm no lawyer, so I could be way off there.
One last point, I do believe that it would be of great use to drastically change BGBuddy. I have stopped using that one years ago, when I realised it did even worse on the actual battleground mechanics than I would myself. If we could, at least as far as HB users are concerned, lessen the burden on the BGs, We might also lessen Blizz's wrath against bot users. I know this requires a lot of long term thinking, but I think it would greatly improve the bot as well as the game.
Once again, good luck everyone! And cheers to the Devs!

      Bossland et al,

A strong suggestion. Do not give us a release yet. Find what went wrong first. Re-establish some sense of trust in the software. It's better to wait another week or two and get a better product than for us to get hit again. Stop worrying about the screamers who are begging for the bot to launch. Another week or even two will not kill us. But you coming out with a solid bot will put a hole in Blizz. They want to finish you off.

My view is different than most. They want you in a really bad position. That is no more funds coming in and still having to spend money in the courts. If you launch now, and allow yourself to make some more funds but you get detected again your rep will die and no one will buy the bot going forward. If you wait and find out what happened and then release you will be in a much better position as it may take Blizz a much longer time to find a way to hit us again. We all know nothing is 100% guaranteed but giving in to whiners at this point will surely kill the bot if we get detected once more.

This is my opinion. I believe we were detected. How I have no clue but I believe we were. I did very little botting in the past few weeks. One 8 hr stretch of farming fur every 3 to 4 days and some garrison. It's not time related in the sense of tons of hrs as I probably botted 15-20 hrs a wk tops probably less.

Just don't do the release. Find out what went wrong and fix it. Releasing the bot now serves no real purpose unless you have a working solution to the problem. I recall times past where a month would be reasonable for something of this magnitude. Now one week and we going crazy.
