Please understand, I am not trolling anyone. I am a 10 yr veteran WoW player who came here last week actually looking for botting information.

As a strong user of AH and farming mats for sale I had heard of and seen bots in certain areas, most notably in Chamber of Moons and wondered how they continued to get away with it.

Imagine my surprise to hear about the banwave and all the issues happening the past few weeks. Now to my observation.

It seems the majority of public explanations for botting were in the realm of "Garrisons are boring, I had to do it", "leveling is boring, I had to do it", "farming was boring, I had to do it", etc. Yet the deeper I get into the forums I see people bragging about farming for xx hours straight while asleep, or at work.

I've stood in Chamber of Moons and seen the bots running on a set pattern, killing 1 mob out of each pair, ignoring the other, running past several NPCS to kill another one then running off at an angle to find another single mob and kill it.

I guess my point, without blaming certain types of players is that excessive botting seems to be the trigger that causes Blizz to react, not just normal gameplay with some help from automation.

I'm just glad I didn't start botting in April on my 10 yr old account, but I can assure that HB devs constant brags that they had never been detected would have convinced me that I could get away with it, and I would have been a mighty butthurt puppy the morning of the banwave.

      You are correct sir. Sorry.

Do most botters use HB only to slightly facilitate game play, or is it meant as total wrecking of fair game play technique by being used for hundreds of hours each week amassing rewards and gold that they would normally have no chance of getting?

thats kinda like asking 'do you use your car to drive back and forth to the mailbox, or do you drive 200mph and run over children and small dogs and terrorize shoppers at the mall?'

im not even sure how buying a boe would even be remotely considered 'total wrecking of fair game play technique by being used for hundreds of hours each week amassing rewards and gold that they would normally have no chance of getting'

we could even go as far as saying 'the blizz store is meant as total wrecking of fair game play technique by being used by douchebags to amass rewards and gold that poor people couldnt begin to afford'

but how douchy would that statement be, right?

      Questing to level alts
1 hour a day to mine / herb / set work orders in my garrison
combat rotation in raid sometimes if i was feeling unwell or couldnt get my son to sleep before raid and he was hanging around being annoying.

still leveled 2 toons to 100 by hand
never farmed anything or left my garrison running 24/7 never sold anything on the AH basically uses mats to make flasks / pots for the guild bank
still played my class / classes by hand on often occasions and could perform just as good as the bot... it's not really overly hard.

Most botters will use it for their personal needs, but there are many out there that also use it to farm gold to sell and make side income like I do. It varies on the user but most will just use the bot to farm the gold they don't have time to farm by hand.

Understand your defense of the program, but as an outsider when I see people saying "I just want my 28 accounts back so I can wreck several server economies" it tends to make me see Blizz's point of view about botting.

When you understand basic economies of scale you would realize why they have 28 accounts.

When you understand basic supply and demand, you would be able to realise such nuggets as...
      ...just doesn't make sense.

To not mention that bot brought a better raid experience in general since in lots of cases CR made it better even for people that didnt use it

Freshrain, heres a question for you, what part of botting do you see as most harmful to the general wow community?

i love how people always say that bots ruin the economy well not here anyway the wow forums that is a different story but to have someone come here and say it...lol

i am sorry if you ask me bots do not mess up the server economy if anything they help it and keep it in balance since the ban wave there is not one server that i have been on that the price of mats has not doubled or even tripled in price and gone for there being 100's of stacks down to a dozen or so yes the people that are farming out by hand are making more gold but now the people that buy mats off the AH because they don't have the time to farm them are getting robbed by people taking advantage of the fact that there are not a lot of bots right now to drive up the market prices

i farmed a lot before the ban wave around 6 hours a day on 2 accounts always supervised and posted 100's of auctions a week but also spent 1000's of gold on the AH for stuff that i did not farm or consumables that i did not make for myself for my guild as i paid the repair bills of everyone in the guild (a 10k gold cap on guild repairs for everyone in the guild a day) and flasks, pots enchants, and gems for everyone on the raid team so did i ruin the server economy no i fell that i helped keep it stable and helped out a lot of my guild members with stuff so that they did not have to use there hard earned gold

Im a 10 year account that got banned. Used HB for several years without an issue. I didnt use it to abuse the system. I made enough gold to get by. But it opened up the game something crazy for me.

Ive played all the content. many times over. I took many characters to top level by hand. But eventually you just cant do it any more. You no longer have the time to grind honor points or level. But you still want too experience more of the game at the top level. So where I had hand levelled 4 characters, i bot levelled the other 7. I got every class levelled. I could learn a class, but when you switch between classes a lot your brain muscle memory gets confused. Well mine did. I was often pushing the wrong keys. Since I could also get the bot to most of the basic combat routine stuff... and following, that allowed me to control my own cc`s and have more map awareness. Also having a 1 button burst was freeken awesome.

I havent stopped botting and wont. Ill stop the game before I stop botting :D I use an alternative now, while I wait to see how HB pans out, but I have since learnt there are many alternatives. And most of them go ignored by blizzard. When your account gets banned its no biggy. Ull get it back, and its given me chance to level characters on alliance side now :D You still have access to all your heirlooms, mounts, toys, etc from your banned account.

And as a non-botting farmer, I find the cost of mats and subsequent increase in my profits to be wonderful.

Sorry if you believe this was meant as trolling. I actually did, as originally posted visit here for the purposes of purchasing the program.

I may still buy the software on a 2nd PC with a throw away account. It just seemed there was a big gap between those who responded indignantly that they were banned for something they didn't see as a problem, and those who couldn't wait to get back into the game to screw up the economy. (Their words not mine)

I'm also confused as to the official HB stance that the program was not detected, as far as they could see, and that somehow this was a trick played on the entire botting community by wicked, sneaky Blizzard.

Obviously the PvP issues are by for the most noted and disruptive activity. To disrupt team play for other players is the most hurtful.

The grinding of mats tends to lower the price of mats that other players would receive. Now, to those buying the mats it is a plus, for those who survive by farming, it sucketh.
