I've updated a couple of times and every time I get this same error despite being at the live version. Did we go back to using the beta version or something?
SquareEnix pushed a patch during maintenance last night. RB will need to be updated to work with the new, patched game. Nothing new - this happens almost every time the game has a patch.
SE has been updating the game client almost nightly since Heavensward released. Each time this happens, Mastahg needs to update the bot's offsets so that it can function with the newly updated client, among other things. It usually takes him until around the afternoon (here on the US east coast) to update the bot, since he lives in a different timezone. If you are seeing an update pop up for the bot, but it does not recognize the game client when you go to launch it - then you are most likely getting the most recent update that occurred AFTER the last bot update, but BEFORE the game client update that occurs around 1-3AM EST. For example: 12PM; You download update -> 12:01PM; You launch client and recieve "not recognized" error -> 3PM; Bot is updated, you can use the bot -> 10PM; A new bot update is pushed (for features, not offsets), but you are not logged in -> 2AM; Game client is updated -> 12PM;You log in to the bot and recieve the 10PM update, but recieve "not recognized" error -> 3PM; Bot is updated, you may log in. This is just an example, though. YMMV
I know it needs to be updated after each patch, I just didn't realize they were doing it every single night. Usually when I log in they let me know there is a patch or even just plain old maintenance, but the past 2 days i havent seen anything. I'll log in, update the Rebornbuddy then it tells me my version isn't the most up to date. I'm just glad all I gotta do is wait and there isn't an error on my end, except me. Thanks <3
Yeah they usually don't say anything before hot fixes. And when they (SE) do these, often times nothing changes but the version number. For security purposes, I assume, Bossland products always have to match the version number they were intended for before the public can use them.
There was a prompt late last night when I had to relog before going to bed, but they very well could have put it up late and most of the playerbase could have not been notified by it. It essentially said maintenance will be from 11:00 PM PDT to 3:00 AM PDT, iirc.
Update Thread Is there a thread that gets updated to the bot's status that we subscribe to? Even if it's just, Hey, there was an update and we're working on the bot, will prevent a lot of the redundant questions. Then, when the bot is updated and working, the update notification can get posted to that same thread. This system works well for others and it'd work great for RB. There is an Expansion Update thread, but that's likely finished now that beta is through. There's a release thread, but that gets cluttered with Q/A. One thread to rule them all, set to Closed, with admins posting status, will work much more efficiently.
