I've used it on two accounts, for many months over the entire summer, then on my unbanned account from Nov 13 to, actually, today. I don't have a good idea why I'm not banned. Only thing I can think of, I never used it in real raids (above LFR) or PVP. that, and my macros arent saved with blizz (presumably, I got the SET synchronizeMacros "0" in config.wtf)
My friend been banned today and he was using SBR for like a week only and he didn't get banned from HB for more than 2 years and half, It seems like SBR is so bad and they're wannabes.
SBR was not hit with a "massive" ban. Lots of people did not get banned and was still using during the supposed "ban" wave went out. Everyone that got banned was probably also a Honorbuddy user.
Looks like it may of been it a scan at a certain time for sbr, since all that got hit had sbr open at the time from what it seems even their devs got it. btw at the same time I had 7 hbs bots that been online for 24hrs straight and they were not affected at all. soap said he was going to open the auth servers after 24hrs without seeing if he had found the problem if I read right, we will see how many more are banned if that is the case since all ban reports have stopped since auth servers are down leading me to believe if you log on and load it your gone.
This is the best post in this thread. SBR touted their 64-bit'ness as well as mac compatibility. Didn't protect them in the long run. Of course comparing HB and SBR is like comparing apples and oranges. It was nice to have SBR when HB was down. Their instant-updates made sure you were good for raid nights.I'd still be using SBR if I was playing this game for anything more than farming mounts and mog items.
There is a quote above from one of the SBR Devs. He was banned and has never used anything other than SBR. Please make statements based on fact. This was an SBR ban "event". We cant explain why some didnt get banned any more than we can explain those that evade HB ban events. Although server side synch is probably a good guess.
My SBR only account got banned, yeah 64-bit doesn't buy you crap except performance. I'd almost entirely blame the fact that it stores macros using "/soap" on Blizzard's servers as the reasoning, given all they would need to do is search their macro database since it stores your general macros as a "backup" mechanism in case you re-install WoW/move computers. Laughably my other account which was banned 6 months back in the massive ban wave for HB wasn't banned, I re-instated it about 2 weeks ago and have been using HBRelog/GarrisonBoss to farm for all of my level 100s, I've occasionally used SBR on it to play, but not much since I was using it as a "farming" account. Just hilarious... Seems like Blizzard is rotating between detecting bot bases everytime they "build" back up.
Soap is currently running a poll to get a count of how many were banned, currently 150 not banned and 55 banned. Really seems like it only hit people who were currently attached at the time got hit, luckily I was working late and out for the night. Honorbuddy accounts still running strong though! Guess it's back to gnomesequencer for when I'm being lazy. *EDIT* If you seriously saved your soap macros to your General Macros section you deserve the ban, and also did not pay any attention to the instructions that came with SBR. SBR creates the macros for you under the Character Specific tab because those are kept locally and Blizz does not have access to them. Not saying I agree with the method since I find it unsettling to integrate a bot into wow like that...but still.
I've been having 2 HB bots going 24/7 since friday the 27th of November. Both still going strong. HB has not been affected.. Yet
For one the SBR ban wasn't remotely close to massive. For two, my account that uses nothing but kicks was banned. It was a ban wave period. No need to proclaim speculation as fact.
Doesn't matter if it was massive or not, it was a ban for Soapbox users. But weirdly not all, 3 people all playing at same time with SBR and 2 got banned 1 didn't, were mid lfr at the time.
All this goes to prove that the detection didn't happen right now. The detection obviously occurred sometime in the past and they sat on the info for awhile. Blizz doesn't do a detection and instantly ban everyone...It's too obvious and their too likely to get caught scanning if they do go this route.
That was my thought exactly, normally blizzard builds up. The weird part if I can't think of a time that 2 of us were using and not the third, maybe once or twice. It was always HB then less HB for LFR and more SBR. Not that it matters, am actually glad one survived, just now to decide if want to come back, wait for legion, or say hell with it totally.
Probably what another has said as either a certain feature of SBR/Logs from past and finally got around to banning. I have been using SBR for past week with no issues but I'll just stop using it for awhile to see.
I have only ever used SBR after the last Ninja Patch. I fell for the undetectable garbage and installed it to use while waiting for HB. I only used SBR for a couple days and only on a dummy. This was straight up detection. i was not reported since i had no interactions with people. As i said earlier, it was most likely monitoring the Lua injections and/or macros at that time.
What was the "upside" of using SBR? The claimed "undetectable" feature? Or the 64bit client? Or just superior rotations? Just wondering what people saw in SBR since I never even heard of them before this
All of the above. I mean I never thought it was undetectable, but I felt it might be a bit safer since it didn't have as big of a target on them as HB. I didn't get banned so no harm done, it was a much more enjoyable experience while it lasted though.
The undetectable claim and the DPS reports i had seen. When i saw that it installed macros, i was very skeptical of its claims. I still played with it because It has been around a while. I wasn't comfortable enough to use it in real combat.
