      Did any of you try to level a paladin as protection specked with HB?

      If so, what is your experience with it, and what spec did you use?

      Right now i am leveling one paladin as ret and one as prot. I don't know if i should raf them, i don't really think any of the leveling profiles take them any place where you need to be 2, but i could make my own.

      I made one prot and one ret to actually play them together.. but i don't really know if that was so cleaver, so let me know your experiences :)

      It's been done. I've read where people on the forum have run three paladins together on raf... one prot, one ret and one holy. I've used Covalesce with a prot pally and had no discernible problems.

      I disagree with this. I think it's a terrible combo and is hardly efficient.

      Level them both Ret and respec when you're ready to raid etc,. It'll prove to be a helluva lot faster.

      I started off leveling one as prot alone but it was slow and inefficient. Once I respecced him to ret he started rolling over everything. My original idea was that prot would be a lot harder to kill and could take on multiple mobs with ease and thus less downtime from running back to your corpse but I died a lot more as prot than as ret. I rarely ever die now.

      Prot = die alot.
      Ret = Survive.

      'nuff said.

      Hmm got both those that thing its a good idea and those that think its bad.. Doesn't make it easier for me to decide :)

      Right now, the ret is a little ahead, but it could be due to the area and also due to the fact it has bigger bags. Think i am going to let them run for now, they are still very young.

      When leveling prot, did you use 1h and shield or 2h?

      When leveling with ret I used a 1h with a shield... It killed at roughly the same rate as a 2h but took less damage. Around level 70 I am pretty sure I switch to a 1h because the stats went through the roof for just greens.

      I've only run prot at 80, probably better to level as ret. However, if you're planning on running instances while you level it will be easier to get them as prot. Bottom line is there is no right or wrong way to do it. It's up to you. Some ways may be faster than others but eventually you'll get there no matter which path you choose.

      /Disagree, I've been leveling my pally on and off as AoE prot, and I've not had one death. (avg 4-8mobs)

      Thanks all for the replies. I am going to let the prot run a little longer. Right now its going slower than the ret. But it may be because of the difference in areas. Right now though, i have a problem with the cc. It doesnt use Righteous Fury :(
