If they did get banned, then it's purely on them.

Actual banwaves are short lived because all of the detection typically occurs weeks before the actual banwave itself, not during.

After the banwave is completed, everything goes back to "normal."

Nope that's wrong, I had an account which was inactive for 3 months and it got hit, so yeah the detection was way further back than weeks.

      Please re-read what I posted..
I didn't say it always occurs weeks before, I said it typically occurs weeks before.

In the previous banwaves the staff pinpointed the exact date range of when the scans took place, and more than often it was only within week(s) range.
Give or take 1 to 3 weeks at the most.

This recent banwave may have extended over a month, but there's no proof as of yet aside from word-of-mouth.

my 5man teams I created last and this time got to 100 instead of 90 which was old battle chest and chugging along
also levelled 3 druids by questing over 3 days and they going good at farming too

and I'm small, there are heaps of others out there doing 10 to maybe 100x what I got without having issues unless doing suiciding.

      Actually Ahemoth is correct!

Blizzard's usual banwave pattern is after the initial detection, they collect data for one to 3-4 weeks, then examine the records for a week or two and initiate the actual banwave.

Meanwhile they pull with the banwave-flagged accounts, these, flagged by different criteria in the same or close time-window too: Like player reports, heuristics flagged etc., which is easily confirmed just by watching the Ban section here:

We had suspicious low activity on bans, reported in the months before the banwave:

After the ban report spree from Dec 2015 banwave,

In Jan 2016 we had 46 reports.

In Feb 2016 we had 66 reports, ~50 of them just on 05.02.2016 after some large batch of flagged accounts got banned.

In Mar 2016 we had 7 reports only! Quite a few, considering the billions-worth corporation Blizzard have a huge bot-hunting team, they delivered just 7 ban-reports from 27.02 to 16.04 - in 49 days timewindow! If that is not suspicious low, what else?

In Apr 2016 we had 17 reports! Again quite low number!

In May 2016 we had 3 reports prior 19.06 banwave!

In May 2016 we had 192 reports from the banwave.

The pattern is more than obvious:

Blizzard were collecting a large batch of account flags for a banwave since late Feb 2016, nearly full 3 months prior 19 May!

So no surprise that they have banned and accounts, inactive from two-three months - they were simply flagged in Feb/Mar and banned with the wave.

Well it was obvious that they getting ready for the banwave (atleast for me). Had AH acc running 24/7, for the 4 months and no bans. Traded millions on trade acc, and no bans. Same things as spring banwave year ago. Also trade acc was banned for bot using, and not for abuse of economy.

Aion has it right, we've seen the same pattern for every banwave, gather data from X date to Y date, then Z days later throw down banwave. It won't be consistent because the whole point of the method is inconsistency, they want to keep the HB team on their toes. Usually the detection is average 4 months then the cool-down time is days to weeks. For example I made an account and started botting on the 18th and it was not banned, they may have been gathering accounts until the 13th then readied the wave.

Also, they don't just stop banning blatant botters when a wave is coming. They continue to manually ban via GMs and player reports as a separate entity from the bucket of detected Wave accounts. So a comment like "but my one account which was running BGs 24/7 was banned the day after the wave" is more likely outside the scope of the wave. But everything we can conclude is 100% not fact, only blizzard knows the truth behind the banning methods.

Your personal experience means nothing. It isn't just about you.

Aion provided cold, hard facts. What exactly is wrong about the facts he posted here? Again, as I said, your personal experience means nothing.

I love how every time someone provides a statement supported by data rather than opinion it gets responded to with "Yeah but this one time at band camp I had the opposite experience, so you can't be right". Keep being a useful member of the community Aion, don't let the children get you down.

I got one account survived, which were initially banned May 2015 for 6 months and I re-subbed and started botting 48 hours before the banwave!

Plus I got my main account survived too, it was never botted, but once attached the bot by mistake, like 2 months ago. (Keep in mind, I have 3 perma-bans and various other 6 months /18 months suspensions on the same b.net account)

So its obvious the detection was active in previous moments, and it was not active (or not counted) in the few days before that.

It's a big RNG if you get banned or not. Have anyone reported you? If some people have, they you will might get banned. Its easier if noone reports you.

Last year when they gave 7 days trial, they banned everything. Or that was 2014, I am not sure.
