And you have no idea how they found the IPs and how much of a difference it will make to add new ones, I doubt they (HB) do things just for the sake of it and they said they had evidence that this was the case. If anything it proves how good tripwire is, if blizzard are having to resort to dirty amateur tricks like blocking IPs just LOL, the developers just need to make sure they can't find the IPs again and we are golden

      Pretty easy to detect tripwire.

Send new warden module(that we know tripwire will detect). Wait until tripwire trips, record last IPs module was sent to

      Done, cya next banwave

yeh and note they talk about IP ranges not ips, which means probably a lot of IP blizzard has to track down, I think if they add enough ranges it could be impossible to find them all. even if this is some flaw i think HB are smart enough to find a way around it..they could stream tripwire into HB client for random users so that its not centralized any more. either way my point stands, the haters talking about tripwire being useless are very wrong if this is what blizzard are resorting to in order to beat it!

Actually ranges makes it easier, provided tripwire is hosted in a datacenter which it probably is, ranges are most often divided into segments, so simply take the range of an IP that is tripwire, and itll do no harm considering no ips in that range is consumer IPs.

You must realise though, that many have said "dont worry buddyteam got this, now they fixed tripwire" the past 4 banwaves

      And we got another banwave.

History repeats itself, Bossland is getting rekt.

You have probably missed what exactly was said by buddy developers in the past 3 banwaves (we never had 4)

After both May 2015 and Dec 2015 there was no direct public answers regarding what may have triggered the banwaves, but after the tripware-on event in Feb 2016, they officially said, that the reason for the both waves was spotted and its already fixed.

Now in May 2016 there was official report regarding the reasons for 2nd time (not for 4th as you thought).

Actually there were no post regarding the "reason" for the detection of the banwave that happened this month.

They clearly state that they dont actually know what happened, meanwhile they state that:

So they found evidence that IP ranges of tripwire werent effected, and they assume that this is _a_ reason and not _the_ reason that a banwave happened.

For all we know, nothing was fixed and Blizzard is laughing right now.

if it's true then it is the reason, why else would you bother blocking IP ranges. it's a sign of desperation, blizzard might be "winning" right now but I think it is only a matter of time before HB regains the upper hand and we go back to the old days of years without bans :D

i will be proud to say i stuck with them during the hard times unlike the many traitors that enjoyed HB for years and then stabbed them in the back as soon as it hit some problems which aren't even that bad if you consider that you can still bot safely for months before you risk a ban!

About Bossland GmbH's intentional ambiguity on Banwaves and Tripwire...

The development staff is always and intentionally vague on the details for several reasons. All of this should be common sense, but its not something many spend time thinking about:

      1. To provide specific details gives the adversary an unnecessary advantage.
With enough details the cat-and-mouse game tips heavily in the adversary's favor. Bossland GmbH is not willing to make such details public, knowing that doing so will harm the Community.

      2. Bossland GmbH has a huge litigation target on its back.
Unlike all other bot makers, Bossland GmbH has refused to fold based on a lawsuit, or cease-and-desist order. Bossland GmbH has regularly defeated Bliz in court, and this makes Bliz even more aggressive. Two of the banwaves very strongly correlate with Bliz court defeats. This is probably not coincidence.

If Bliz ultimately defeats Bossland GmbH, then the Bliz legal resources will come to bear on the next popular bot maker. Right now, our competitors are benefiting from the legal shield being provided by Bossland. This is not only a Bliz legal resource issue, but an intentional legal tactic Bliz employs in an effort to crush Bossland GmbH. (We will not explain this further.)

      3. We know for a fact that Bliz reads the forums, and tries to glean information from the content.
Evidence presented at court confirms this. Much of their spyware efforts are targeted solely and directly at Honorbuddy. Our intentional ambiguity sends their analysis and spyware measures down paths we know will be fruitless. They have some gifted professional spyware-makers on their side. This keeps the cat-and-mouse game challenging. And occasionally, their brute force measures just get lucky, also.

      4. We do not want to give our Community a false sense of security.
Botting (ANY bot) is not safe, and we've always said so. Here it is yet again:
Bossland GmbH's ambiguity has the unfortunate but necessary consequence of keeping our Community in the dark about internal matters. People readily jump to wrong conclusions, and will read HUGE amounts into non-information. There are many posts in this thread and others that make this abundantly clear—posts filled with horrifying ignorance, and incorrect speculation couched as fact.

We make no attempts to squelch these posts, as they actually assist in misdirecting or creating 'noise' for our adversary. (Posts that break forum rules are another story.) Be aware that only Bossland GmbH knows the facts; all else is nothing but opinion or speculation no matter how authoritatively it is stated. We suggest you think for yourself, and weigh the opinions and speculations appropriately. Arguing with such positions is a waste of time, unless such is your pastime.

      cheers,

      Amazing post :)

Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing a bad job correcting people's ignorance :D Maybe i should stop posting if it's actually helping create "noise". I just feel so bad at the bad things that gets said about HB. Please PM me if you want me to stop

You are doing a bad job, and it's been pointed out to you many times.

As has been stated previously, your blind faith in HB has made you exactly that...Blind.

Very good post, Xarian. It's sad that people don't understand what the HB team means by their cryptic posts. As Chinajade very clearly pointed out, they are intentionally vague about everything, Chinajade and Echotiger at this point now are the only HB staff members that have the ability to provide actual, useful information to the community. The other staff members can barely tie 3 words together.

My faith is not blind it is backed up by the evidence and an understanding of how skilled the buddy developers are

I notice you did not address my argument that bliz desperate tactics of blocking IP ranges shows how effective the tripwire is

What are you even going on about as far as blocking IP's?

Maybe you should go back and read what blizzard supposedly did...They SCANNED for and FOUND the IP's that the tripwire was using...supposedly. They did absolutely nothing in the way of blocking anything. Blocking IP's would be illegal under almost every country's laws in the book.

Maybe you should go read how IP's work before you continue spouting non-sense about something you very clearly know nothing about.

As I previously stated, do your research on how an IP address works, then go back and read how ridiculous adding additional IP's is if someone already knows how to find the IP you're currently using.

      Hi, Davidflandes,

You will need to contact the Bossland GmbH 'front office', and explain the problem to them. The forum staff are unable to assist with account-related issues.

      cheers,
