PayPal is more of a convenience than a necessity so it's not going to kill it off entirely. Just because PayPal bends over to Blizzard doesn't mean other companies will, and there are plenty of alternatives outside of the USA who would laugh at Blizzard if they asked them to do the same.

It certainly won't stop gold selling, but it sure is going to put a hurt on the big sellers. However, it might be a good thing for private sellers.

Not to mention paypal would have a very hard time proving you sold wow gold in the first place.

No Mr paypal. I sold currency for anouther game, they don't just buy wow gold you know.

Well, maybe they can target professional gold sellers with their own web sites, but what can they do against private ones? I don't give a shit on what Blizzard tells Paypal - if they close down my account because I received money from someone who's linked to gold selling, they have no legal justification to take that money away from me. If they try, they'll get sued. I don't know how the legal situation in the us is, but atleast here in germany the law's on my side and I can't even imagine them being so stupid to try and pull such a stunt.

And if that just targets professional gold sellers:
      a) they'll find an alternative.
      b) I really don't care... :x

      Edit:
By the way, why does paypal even care?

Perhaps but I highly doubt the large ones are going to go out of business just because they cant use paypal.

I doubt paypal will kick goldsellers to the curb. Wow isn't the only game people buy virtual goods for and cutting off gold sellers would be taking from their own profits, I don't see that happening and it wouldn't make sense. Even if they did cut gold sellers off there are other methods of payment options that can be used.

It will be interesting to see how this will affect sites like Offgamers that also sell game cards. I never buy gold from them ... but will my transactions be flagged as "gold selling/buying" by PayPal if I decide to buy my game cards from them?

I understood it as PayPal requiring companies to cease selling WoW gold entirely or have their merchant account removed, regardless of whether the transaction is for WoW gold or not.

I could of course be wrong :)
