IMHO Blizz got advise from consultants (read black hats) on how to improve thier code to make it "safer" against botters.
Not any tripwire or whatsoever will make you safe anymore. I don't believe they are stupid to the point in desassemlbling the code themselves, but anyone with IDA pro and Wireshark can get FULL binary code + monitor traffic to tell how to detect if your are "legit" or not.

Good ole Doomsayers! I assume from the poor spelling and grammar that Mr. Trial either knows nothing about what he's talking about, English is his second language or both. Security Experts are just as experienced and trained as the Honorbuddy staff, to think it's all over because Blizzard may or may not have hired consultants is a little pessimistic.

Well, it's very easy to see if honorbuddy is running on your system, don't need a consultant for that.

for instance, open your Visual studio, make a new console app, get all processes (System.Diagnostics) and see if honorbuddy.exe is running, not much effort really! (this is just an example, there are plenty more easy methods).

It's just a matter of ethics and money... mostly money though

Totally agree, It is ALL about money...Blizzard knows that HB injects a pile of cash into thier coffers every month..BUT now that they have entered the gold selling game we have become an out right competitor in this cat and mouse dance. couple that with the fact that thier legitimate community has been crying about Bots its a no brainer for them to ban us.

However they want to play both sides for the cash..so instead of banning us permanently like they do to all other bots I can see (could be proven wrong here), they give us 6 month and 18 month sentences to be sure we come back and spend more cash for accounts and boosts etc.

Anyway only my 2 cents..I love HB and all the great things it can do ..I just wont troll you with it , I'm more of a realist and will tell it like i see it.

Yep, its very easy, but its illegal here (in EU)

So even if Blizzard are excited to do it, their lawyers would never allow it, if they would like to keep their well paid jobs!

We are not in NA, and the regulations here are not harmless for the corporations, like in NA, so they would never dare to cross the line.

THis thread is funny! :D HB is stronger than ever especially with the new security improvements. I've been botting non-stop with my fresh account and survived the tripwire event 100% the bot is undetected I even got reported on whisper by another player if they had evidence I was botting I would be banned!! I'm quite sure the GMs checked me out

Proof or it didnt happen...as far as Im concerned you are now just trolling. Its very plain things are not as rosey as you proclaim.

This kind of posting by you enflames the community that supports it. Particularly when we all know that there is some level of detection based on the history of the last few ban waves.

No ammount of tripwire has saved any of us recently, they just wait a few months and collect the data they need before hammering us again and again.

Could we have a moderator tone this guy down.

I botted for a few hours on 2 different starter accounts and got banned on both for 6 months. Either it's detected, or they're keeping a lookout for peoples HWID/IP/something else.

Most likely you are on their watch list, making starter accounts to bot on is probably the most obvious thing you can do. Look at the ban reports section its a very normal amount of bans, if it were detected there would be hundreds of posts

It's called not re-formatting your computer or using windows 10 reset to go back to factory original.
It is well known blizzard record wow install/reg keys.
Starter edition accounts are more than fine but a well known rule of thumb you level to max over a 72hr period after that your fine to either suicide away till your month ends and your caught by blizzard server scripts or bot smart and keep going until there another massive 6month ban wave choice is yours.

hasn't been 6 months since the last banwave.. you got about 4 or 5 months before your account is on suspension.

Yeah I am most likely on some kind of list. I've reformatted my computer a few times since my original ban though, and I even moved to a new city a few months ago, so it's not IP or my windows key.

My theory is that, since I used the same WoW-installation from my gaming HDD (that one is left untouched every time I reinstall my OS, so I don't have to reinstall 200 gigs of games every time), they most likely have some file that tells them when you log on whether they should keep a look out for you or not.

Every WoW-install could come with its own unique ID that they flag if they ban you for botting, so reinstalling the game might be a must! :)

Only speculation though, I could just have been unlucky or they're watching my HWID or something.

Regardless, it's only starter accounts so it's not like it matters. My original account is unbanned in two days, I think I'll stay away from ever botting on that account again :)
