[SOLVED] Trouble with C++ (foam_follower split out)

do you have any antivirus enabled?

I've just done a clean build on Windows 7 x64 and would like to carry on using Windows 7 until the July 29th Free Upgrade deadline. I too am stuck when launching Honourbuddy. After inlalling I'm left with a dead desktop link to "C:\Users\Gamer\Documents\Honorbuddy\Honorbuddy.exe". When I launch the app directly I am prompted to install "Visual Studio 2015 update 1 x86, VC++ 14.0" but it's already installed. I've spent an hour or so trying to figure out what's gone wrong but I'm getting nowhere. Any ideas?

Typically the log contains just one line,

"[16:15:14.285 N] Honorbuddy v2.5.15239.828 started."

You are probably missing the earlier .net libraries. Have you tried running the buddy wizard?

The Wizard shows that all 3 prerequisites are installed. The 2 C++ libraries are installed each and every time I run the wizard as both are shown as missing when I first run it. The result is the same. HB asks to install C++ libraries.

Hi, Foam_follower,

The Buddy Wizard is outdated, and should not be used.

Instead, please use the 'installer', not the zip file, to perform the installation. You will need to run the installer with Windows administrator privileges. The installer is available here:

  • Your Windows must be completely patched for the installer to work. (E.g., Win7 must have SP1 installed + updates).
Keep running Windows Update until there are no more patches to apply. This may require rebooting your machine several times.
  • The installer must be an exception to your AntiVirus.
  • The directory in which you install the Buddy bot must be an exception to your AntiVirus.
If no joy, please show us a full log of the problem.

I finally managed to sort this out. I can't say specifically what it was that fixed the problem but it resolved its self after some minor updates to Windows 7 SP1. I wish I'd noted what was updated, my apologies for not doing so. Everything's running fine now.

Hi again,

Thanks for the follow-up, and glad you are going again!
