Should I use a different IP/VM for each bot?

      Hey there,

I'm very paranoid when it comes to bans and I hear different storys, I can't tell whats the smartest setup.
I wonder how you guys secure your bots, especially the guys here with 3 or more bots and what you can tell from your experience.
I'm thinking about putting every bot in a VM and 5 Bots per IP and only one at a time.

But since I found Threads like this:

      http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2423164189

I'm not sure if thats make my bots more suspicious. But appealing the ban seems to be easy.

Should I assign every 5 bots their own VM HWID?

On the other side I can't imagin using 20 Bots with one ip is a good Idea. Any thoughts on that?

Don't use any security measure. They have been proven time and time again to provide no additional benefit. If the bot is detected, which it almost surely is, it doesn't matter what you do...You'll get banned.

Look for threads that give information on decreasing settings for wow so you can run as many clients as possible from a single machine. That's going to be the best way to maximize profits.

If you're paranoid about botting, the best idea is not to do it at all. You're going to get banned eventually no matter what you do and no matter what measures you take.

The HB community only has theories about how Blizzard detects bots or malicious accounts. No one knows for sure.

It is the general consensus that a Proxy/VPN/etc does not lower ban risks, but can protect future accounts from association. Running it from a VM is more convenient but does not provide any security really.

I actually don't care if I being banned but I don't wanna be an easy target. Avoid it as long as possible

Thats my point I don't care if it lowers the ban risks but I don't wanna lose all my accounts at once.

Why is that? Running 20 Bots from one HWID doesn't make them suspicious for blizzard? Its hard to believe that.

Using VMs saves from mass bans in most cases (doesnt save from a ban wave)
But VMs are not like - oh i install a new os, use a vpn and im fine.
      Its a lot of work

If some actually knew how to utilize virtualization they wouldn't have an issue.

Sorry, it does not provide any security for the specific bot running on it, IE won't prevent a ban from player reports / waves, it would very likely prevent association of accounts. Personally I never run more than 1 bot per VM / Machine.

It more or less is it, what do you mean? I setup one VM and clone it, do some finetuning settings for each and that it should be it isn't it?

Aye, thank you, tbh I didn't check. I can imagin whats the purpose of this rule. Anyways, no more about that. Also edited.
