Can you expand on the point system as all that is given in regards to it is "When enough points have been accumulated, the forum itself will automatically take the action of banning the account." How many points are allowed before this takes place? I did not think playful humor was considered trolling but I stand corrected. I would also like to ask why some rules pertaining to:
      https://www.thebuddyforum.com/the-b...sslandgmbh-forum-rules-guidelines.html#post51
Are allowed to be infracted upon, but others are not. Is it up to the moderator to decide what gets deleted and/or banned or is it a strict adherence to the rules? Case in point:

I appreciate any clarification regarding this and apologize for my ignorance. Thank you.

We do not communitate how many points result in what. It can change everytime and we want people to follow the rules in general and not to watch at their points to calculate if they can break them once more or not.
The forum is big and there are a lot of posts. All have to follow the forum rules but not all against forum rules are brought to our attention and result in an infraction.
You can report things using the report function if you think it is needed.

      Hi, Mwayne,

Thank you for your candor in trying to understand. The moderators try very, very hard to apply the forum rules in an even-handed fashion. But sometimes this is hard to see without a global view of the forums, and how it pertains to the business of Bossland GmbH.

We'll try to provide some insight:

      • As BotOperator pointed out, although we read many of the posts in the forums, the forums have literally thousands of posts a day in them. (The forums are much bigger than just the 'Honorbuddy' sub-forum). Most of the moderators are also core developers, or have other responsibilities. Thus, we depend on forum reports to be our eyes and ears for misbehavior.

      • Regarding the "Alt-F4" post...
That is a very old joke to many. But, to those people, they do not realize the damage it can cause to the uninformed. Alt-F4 depends on your having the correct window targeted when you press it. There is no guarantee that Honorbuddy or the WoWclient had the user's attention at the time.

In short, the 'joke' could actually be dangerous and harm Community members that don't understand what it does. This is why such posts are considered trolling.

      • Regarding VPNs, there are legal and illegal (yes, illegal) ways to use them.
For obvious reasons, we will not further explain how they are used illegally. Most users cannot tell the difference, and that is why there is a 'blanket rule'. However, we allow threads to remain open that are not discussing their use in an illegal fashion.

We try to allow the forums to be as open as possible. But, the 'openness' stops when it can cause harm to Community members in various ways.

      cheers,
      chinajade
