I know people cant say if it will happen, but has anyone had any personal experience with it happening? For example, I use the same PC to bot, but I use separate battle.net profiles for botting and for my main. Im wondering if anyone has had their main account banned even though they never botted on it.
All the time sometimes twice a day. As long as your not attached your fine. You could have honorbuddy up and running from now till the end of time but if it is not attached to wow, you are breaking no rules.
But it is attached to a wow process, just not that specific process. Also maybe doing guild transfers and the like at some point. Im probably being overly paranoid but Im just wondering.
Yes. It's something that seems hard to believe until it happens to yourself. People are extremely skeptical, with good reason; I was too, until I was banned on my main account. Which had never touched a bot. There are other reports around, but you'll need to make some diggin; then, there are people who consider that, if something never happened to them, it just can't happen. Most people, probably. Most people also believe in religion, that makes them feel better. I remember reading fpsware lately on the ban forums. An ex-community dev, adored by most people in this forum and with the utmost reputation. He had his entire battlenet wiped clean, where 3 accounts were botting and the others not, at all. Of course, it might be easier to you to think you are completely safe, and live blindfolded. It's up to you, that information is here (in this forum) if you wanna spend time looking for it.
Were you sharing a battle.net though? Like were all the accounts under the same email login? Im using separate ones per account so Im wondering if anyone else has had experience with that.
No. each of my accounts were on a different battlenet account. I took every little step that I could to increase my accounts' chance of survival. It did, until what I think that was a manual investigation, that cleaned every account that ever touched my comp, botting or not.
Damn thats unfortunate, were you selling gold on them? Im only using 1 for personal mats and gold, so Im hoping (although I have nothing to base this off of) that they would just ban that one instead of all of them. Also did you use the same payment method for their subs?
plenty of times, just because I didn't bot on those accounts - doesn't mean it wont get banned. They handled mostly botted gold / items etc.
1) Yes, though I used a completely different account and only by guild invite - guild withdrawal. 2) No, to the payment methods. I've always used third site cdkeys from G2A or whatever site offers a decent deal. To avoid fearmongering , while there is no safety at all, common sense tell us that it is unlikely that they would act on your main account according to their previous banning patterns. But, to be 100% honest, Blizzard recently expressed they were changing their approach to cheaters and botters, and I think that the recent related events ( frequent banwaves, instabanning accounts created on offending IPs or computers (Overwatch), battlenet banning, Ip banning....) can attest to it.
I have heard from some users mentioning that their clean accounts have been banned along with their bot accounts. This makes me believe that Blizzard will ban accounts associated with your btag without actually doing a thorough investigation of each account. IE, if you have 2 accounts, 1 clean and 1 dirty, and both were suspended, you should be able to make a case for the clean account. But if you have 9 bot accounts, and 1 clean. I doubt they would investigate the clean account thoroughly. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
been botting from 2011, never had my main banned. this was selling gold on bank alts with my main account in. Still going strong.
The only time my main has ever been banned in correlation with my botting accounts was back in Cata at the launch. But it was from selling gold, somehow they tracked it back to my main. Was a big bummer but I had already burned out on the game by then so I wasn't too mad.
Happened to me as well. My main no longer gets logged in to the machine I use for botting. I play my main on my desktop and let the bot run the alt accounts on a gaming laptop. Just about the safest thing you can do along with being careful how you transfer gold, etc.
