  • Do you report other bots?

Discussion in 'General Discussion Forum' started by Protease, Feb 28, 2011.

    ?

What do you do if you see another farming bot?

    1. Nothing, leave them be. Botters shouldn't report other botters.

    2. Send a warning whisper/mail telling them to stop. Saves their account, scares them into stopping

    3. Report them immediately

I don't report botters. But I do whisper them and say "Hey, HonorBuddy eh? Not bad, if not, you will get caught" lol

There's a lot of other public and private bots out there, and I do mean A LOT - how could you possibly tell what someone else is using? I've whispered some people about splitting an area before, always with good results, but I've always considered namedropping in game to be something of a faux pas.

Then you have just wasted your afternoon, stalking some random guy who probably already has a ton of reports on his ass. Rather than wasting your time on him, you should have figured out a better way to get rid of your ores and possibly even make more gold than you would have if you hadn't :) In the end its not in your place to demand what another person should or shouldnt sell his stuff for, just make the best of the situation.

As far as reporting other botters goes, no i don't, but not because of some super kewl botter-bro-code saying i shouldnt because i bot myself, but simply because im to god'damn lazy!(which is why i bot in the first place)

I bought all his ore so prices wouldnt drop to shit, probably spent a good 10k gold.... then he put 100's more back on the ah for cheaper then before... Yes it's my problem for buying it all up, but dude, seriously, we all love botting and making gold and doing all the shit we dont want to waste our time doing in the first place. But honestly i just prospected the ore and donated the gems to our guild.

      What this guy said.

      This is why:

      1. The gold-selling market is already too low priced. The less competition (read: supply) there is, the more the prices will get up. Basic economy.
      2. Too many botters on one server will piss people off: A legit player seeing 3 guys running the same route on the same area (and eventually they sync up) will report all 3 of them as botting. Only one player/bot running the same route is less suspicious.
      3. Undercutting on AH - people that sell shitloads of mats at extremly low prices ruin the market and in turn hurt YOUR profits. Think about it.
      4. The more botters, the larger the idiot share, the more the community as a whole will suffer (this leads to more legit players keeping an eye out for bots and blizzard improving their detections methods)
      5. Botters have no respect for the legit players. Turn the fuck ninja off. I get pissed off when someone ninjas a node from me and I'm tempted to follow the player and see what he does - and if I see obvious signs that he's botting, then other people will do the same, increasing the player reports and the ban counts.

So for your own safety: report the fuckin' retards. If you're feeling adventurous, try discussing with other botters on your server and educate them. If that fails, watch your back.

Disclaimer: I am NOT in the gold selling business and I don't care at all. I play on a low pop server when I can count the botters on my right hand's fingers, I don't report them because they have respect for the legit players the same way as I do. Don't flame me because YOU know I'm right.

Yea ive tried that myself a couple of times, more often than not they've had a huge stock waiting for their current stacks to sell so i've begun crafting items and DE'ing and/or prospecting instead. Flasks and cards seems to be a decent way to "launder my dirties" aswell when raw mats are hard to sell.

The guys who have these kinds of stocks are probably using a hacked account and use underground/teleport hacks to harvest as much as possible and undercut just to sell asap before they loose access to the account, theres simply not alot you can do about it besides thinking "out of the box" and sell your ores after being proccessed in some way. If it goes on for a long amount of time i check the low lvl market instead, the last few days the low lvl leather prices on my server where insane :)

No what I'm trying to say is even if you don't approve of reporting people and others do. the ones that are reporting draw attention to them self and the one there reporting so there just killing the competition with no involvement from you. I guess a easy way to put it is its cutting down on other botters for you with no involvement from you. And in my eyes as long as you stay in the backround and let them /report each its a win win for you.

I dont report people for botting, use to but since i now do it wouldnt be fair, woudlnt like a botter to report me. Only time i would report someone now is if they were a complete ass and kept robing skins (ninja on) or started to argu with me (or was a botter anouncing i am botting)

Theres enough attention towards botters atm, so I make /1, /2 and /g report them, or go behind proxy and report them.

Theres alot of competition already, no need to let them steal my nodes.

EDIT: that is if they do it obviously. When I see 3 people almost farming each others asses - mainly DKs or Paladins, well its not good publicity to me as well.

I see it as mine ;)

Dude, if you wanna be like that your whole life, its gonna be a hard ride lol, sometimes you gotta use your elbows to get through - and I for example only does it when its way too obvious, casting unnecesarry attention on other botters - including me.

At the age of 40, I think I'm well above having to take a life lesson, but thanks for the info.
