Was wondering does your EXP go down if you train your arch up? I have read that if your leveling you shouldnt train your arch up why is that??? Whats the benefit of not training your arch up?? or Should you train up arch?
Go ahead and level up your archaeology, exp does NOT go down. Experience gain is based on your character level, not your archaeology skill level. However i believe the general levels should be: Character level 1-60. Dont level archaeology past 300 to avoid BC/outland digs. Character level 60-70. Dont level archaeology past 375 to avoid wotlk/northrend digs. Character level 70-80. Dont level archaeology past 450 to avoid cataclysm digs. Correct me if im wrong.
If your to use Arch to level id suggest 70+ 280%+ flying and dont level it past 375, once past 375 you will open up cata arch where your toon will be destroyed. i got a pala from 70-85 in no time this way just kept him in eastern kingdoms doing arch whilst caped at 375
Just to give you my experience. I leveled my Mage from 81 to 85 in 3 days AFK by just using arch buddy. Add in made about 3500 g selling grays and AHing the arch hieroglyphs. Awesome way to level! I'm going to try it again with my 72 paladin next.
In a way you are both right and wrong. There is no need to stop at 375. You can Level all the way up to 525 without ever going outside of EK. All you really need to do is make sure that, #1 you level up to at least 60 before starting to make sure that you can handle almost any mobs you may encounter. #2 you have to blacklist all Cata digsites. After that I am sure you would be just fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Out of curiousity, how exactly did you level from 81-85 using archaeology?, I have a druid at level 80 currently which i am looking to level up. Did you use archaeology in Eastern kingdoms, Kalimdor or did you use it in Northrend(cata) for experience?
You get XP every time you pick up an artifact all the way to level 85. As a matter of fact now you get XP for all gathering professions in Cata except for skinning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
True, but which one is better, taking in mind that eastern kingdoms for example have HUGE gaps between the digsites, as where norhtrend may have the digsites closer to eachother? I wouldnt know. Thats why I am interested in to where he was using Archaeology leveling up his character
I would avid leveling with any profession as it will mean that you will be under geared. much better in my opion to use grind or pvp and try to pick up gear along the way. However i see no reason to not train all the way up and has already been stated you do have to move to the higher level areas to continue to get xp.
Started in EK, but found it got stuck a little too much, so I switched to Kalimdor. Worked like a charm. Trained when needed, but would recommend staying at 450 as the cata zones caused me some deaths. Never bothered with outlands or northrend.
What if you wanted to farm for the Zin'Rokh? Is it possible to cap training at 450, so you won't get Cata digsites but are able to solve the ZinRokh (which seems to appear from 450 upwards.. does this mean that cap at 450 is enough or should it be 451+)?
I'm saying this just until you hit 85, then you'll want to get 525 Arch and go after those cata zones.
Yea, but I'm starting @ lvl70 with epic flying mount with arch, it would be nice to farm for ZR/other 450 items while leveling to 85
On my server at least there is readily available blue lvl 85 sets abundant on the AH, so you can just pre buy all the stuff you need to be decently geared the moment you ding 85. Plus you make so much gold vendoring the greys from arch that it's basically free gear. I think the concensus is cap it at 450 until you are 85 then you can go higher. at 450 you can still get the dwarf/troll/NE epix.
Here are some tips and facts. When you go over lvl 450+ The cata zones will open for Arch. Twilight Hinterlands Grim Batol Digsite, is hard even manually. (My bot usually gets killed badly) And you get killed, when all the 4 digsites appear in Twilight Hinterlands. Yes there are 4 digsites there. And Archbuddy will take nearest blacklisted digsite, if they all are blacklisted. I usually blacklist all of them, and in the morning I usually find 3/4 digsites are in TH. Leveling I recommend you don't level it up to 525. :3 450 Skill level is enough for Zin'Rokh. So you can level it to 450, and just farm Troll sites in EK. :3 No need for opening cata zones to ruin your troll sites. Well in lvl 60 you get flying mount. I personally recommend starting arch leveling at lvl 70. Cause the flying mount at lvl 60 is really really slow. At it will drop your exp gain much. And I think Archbuddy ground mode is really slow. With many Flight points gathered it may work. No your exp doesn't go down. Benefits: Nice amount of exp. Possible epics that binds on account. Fun rares, epics, mounts. Money from all the junk. Money from Keystones that you sell. Exploring places (explorer title easier). + exp Low "reported" change. Cause you are flying all the time.
Damn did something change last patch?? I have leveled several toons to 85 with archaeology. However on my most recent one I stopped training archaeology at 450 so that I would not have to dig in the cata sites within EK or Kalimdor but still have the chance at finding epics. This does not work now, any ideas why I have cata spots open only at level 450?
I think there have been some changes going on. Cause, I just leveled new toon, and the character level was the one, which unlocked Cata zones Archeology. So keeping, 450/450 Archeology was no use to me at that point.
Will 450 skill open up cata dig sites? My guy is only 80, i don't want him to go to twilight, even if i have to blacklist there.
