Well the thing is, Dell sucks so you really aren't getting anything worthwhile at all.

      Enjoy your overpriced Dell logo

Well my dell studio xps has been good to me so far and I had it for a year or so now. The only problem I had was some of the drivers messed up and it was causing random lag when playing games and what not so I did a full reinstall, tested different driver builds and finally got one to work pretty good. The only reason I got myself a dell though was cause they were doing some promotion and it was 500 dollars off the regular price =), so if you can I say wait for something like that to happen again.

build your own man... It will save you a lot of money. I bought two pre made Pc's(cyberpowerpc) before I asked my friend to show me the ropes on building them from ground up.

Ok if you must buy a computer/laptop online, and you must be able to finance it. I would recommend getting a HP over a Dell...Dell support has sucked the last 3 yrs. If you have a issue with a Dell it could take up to 8 months to get it fixed.
a HP dv6/dv7 with a ATI 6770 1 gb video will run all programs and games out there(note it won't run Cryosis or Asylum on High settings!)

Go with Dell Outlet, get their scratch and dent PC's if you want something cheap. I have seen at least 15 pc's come from there with no issues, they warranty them as new.

Short of that for a cheap economy PC, build your own.

get any dell that is popular, sell it on ebay then buy whatever you want from wherever you want

Newegg has financing and have all the parts you need to DIY.

Quite frankly, all these folks talking about "Dell is evil hurr prebuilt evil derp" do not know what they are talking about. Yes, you CAN get a pre-built with better bang for your buck (although that's hard to do anymore. Pre-built prices are pretty damn good now-a-days), but people forget that walking that path is not for everyone.

I work part-time in IT at an office, and we use Dell computers. It's my job to make sure all of the electronics are working properly (among other things). Actual issues with PC hardware is less than 0.5% of my time spent there. We have no issues that aren't just general wear-and-tear.

(i've been replacing parts and building PCs for the better part of the decade, so I've seen it all)

I have to agree with this guy. We use them for the navy as well, no problems that aren't software related for the most part. I have two dell pc's purchased from delloutlet.com, will use them again if I need another cheap PC. I have one PC homebuilt from newegg and it's my favorite, but it's homebuilt (which imo... is the best no matter what).
