If you buy wow gold (fastgold4u), they will phish you with fake blizzard pm's asking you to go to their site saying you exploited gold. Pretty good idea really, you sell someone gold, phish them, get the gold back, and then sell it to someone else.

I do not buy gold, I do not farm for gold, I havent a thing to do with the gold economy pertaining to the game or this program. If I do use the AH I can promise you I use it less than anyone who is actually playing the game and half ass farming. I do not look at porn, If I did how the F does that equate to me being hacked on a wow account. I Added 1 addon. "Allbags" or "bagnon" so I could see all my bags in one single click of a button ( all uniform and nice ). I have an up to date Norton anti virus and everyday I check for updates. So my million dollar question is... how does one get hacked? Is it still possible If the only programs I use is this one and wow ? Is facebook the new way to hack the world of warcraft? hotmail, or gmail??? The problem I have is, when I ask questions like this I get people jumping on me and defending HB or GB. I am not attacking GB & HB I am fishing for intelligent answers and possibilites. When one "Cruises" the internet what does that mean? Where am I not supposed to go so I don't get infected. Honesty is what im looking for... Has this happened to anyone else? One thing I do find fishy is, I never, NEVER, would get fishing emails about my account being hacked until I got this program. Besides my Norton anti? what further steps would one recomend for " Cleaning" and preventing this from happening again?

I am not buying an authenticator. That is the lamest crap ever. If a game and a comp cant find an inventive way to remain secure without calling the pentagon and confirming launch codes its sad.

If you use the same password for multiple websites, forums, accounts if a database is compromised they can hunt sown any other accounts for other websites, emails, games and compromise them.

      Theres an intelligent answer ;D

If you have any sort of decent phone you can get it as an app. Totally free. If not, it costs $5 or $10.

I've been hacked before. Everything taken, gear disenchanted, the works. Ticket to a GM and waiting a couple of days got me everything back, down to the last enchanting mat. This was during TBC.

Authenticators are like $6.00 I believe? Very very cheap, and free for smartphones, + web authenticators are free, never used a web one tho. Not to mention, if your account gets hacked, I've read somewhere that Blizzard will send you a free authenticator to prevent it from occuring again.

^^ some time last year, google's database of passwords were supposedly compromised. Most recently, I've been seeing a huge increase in compromised hotmail, aol, yahoo email accounts as well. So if you use the same pwd for WoW that you use on any other account, it's definitely possible that your email pwd was stolen it was used to bruteforce your bnet account.

If you don't want an authenticator, change your passwords and make sure they're all different. Or download the free app if you have an app capable phone.

Just for the record i don't use an authenticator so HB isn't your problem.

Now why would they bruteforce if they had your password?

There are many ways to get hacked anymore.

1 )Do u look up wow quests while playing wow?
      2) Have u answered a Blizzard.com email stating u need to log in to verify your account?
      3) Addons are a good way? Where did u get ur "Bagnon" at?
      4) Is your password a commonly used password for you?

otherwise get an Authenticator, which costs less than $6 or free if u have a smart phone. I don't have an authenticator on my botting accounts, only my main. I have over 1.8mil gold that my bots have access to. So i can tell you without a doubt that HB is NOT the one to hack you.

THIS :) ... You don't need to bruteforce if you already have the password.

The most reason people got hacked is because of some keyloggers. It's not hard to get one. You just need to surf the web, hit a shitty website which has some bad code on it and the keylogger comes through your browser. The safest browser atm is Opera btw.

In addition you only want to use your bnet email adress for your bnet account, nowhere else. Make a mixed password like "D0nth4ack @ me1337". This kind of passwort is really really hard to bruteforce without a huge pc power. But if you have a keylogger you could have "1234", they will get it anyway.

Anyway, getting hacked it kind of annoying, but nothing more. You will get everything back within 1-2 hours. So don't worry.

But the safest way is using a authenticator like some said before. I only use an authenticator on my main, not on my bots. If you would use it on your bots it's hard to say that you were compromised when they perma ban you :)

What does looking up quests have to do with anything? Unless you are trying to call out a particular site this doesn't make any sense. Your advice isn't necessarily bad, but it doesn't make any sense.

I believe what you were recommending was:

1.) Some WoW sites have exploited flash applets that can exploit your machine without you knowing about it. Keep all your software up-to-date as possible.
2.) As with all emails never click on a link in an email. Always verify that it is going to a legitimate address and then only use copy/paste into your browser to ensure it doesn't redirect you to a malicious site.
3.) Addon's unless installed using some kind of exe file cannot exploit your machine. All addons are written in LUA and are only run in the protected area that WoW provides for it. It has no ability to access your username/password. With that in mind never trust self-extracting archives for addons or use any kind of exe with them. There are addons such as various WoW database site client data collectors that act as a WoW launcher, these may exploit your machine if they come from untrusted sources. Addons from zip/rar archives from reputable sites like curse.com and wowinterface.com cannot exploit your machine.
4.) This is clear...many WoW sites have had their password databases compromised and therefore if you use the same password for WoW as you do other sites its likely that its out there somewhere. These databases of passwords get recycled too so don't think that you can go back to old passwords either.

The problem with an authenticator on a bot account is it is going to limit your ability to try and recover your account from a suspension or ban. It's hard to claim that you were hacked with an authenticator on your account.

There are websites that have keyloggers on them, So if it is pulled up, then you log in to ur account, you just got hacked
