Funny thing, today i lost another 3 accounts which were on another IP than previous 13. Even funnier it is, that 1 account that didn't get banned 1st time, isn't banned this time either ... and it was on same IP as other 3 ... i dont know wtf are they doing tbh
can you say, what you were doing on these accounts? goldselling/farming/grinding/questing/pvp? how long? afk? edit: also were these connected with each other somehow? sending mails often, groups, guild, etc? i wuold like to know that to improve my techniques.
What they are doing is *never* banning based upon IP address. It has been said often enough already: IP address is *never* a reason to be banned, it isn't even a factor.
Then tell me why 13 accounts are banned same second Again 3 more today ... And in previous banwave my friends account got banned, just because it was online on my ip. He never used any bot/hack/goldbuying/seling or anything against the rules, and he got banned. Soo don't fucking tell me : there is no such thing as IP ban ... 1 was herbing in vashyr 1 was herbing in uldum 1 was doing pvp 2-3h daily
They probably noticed the same IP for all 16 accounts, and investigated each one of them. One was probably suspended before, they notice all the accounts from that IP, investigate them and ban them.
More probably the accounts were under the same name and had some connection through payment method. Since IP addresses can never identify a person or even household (due to a lot of people using dynamic IPs), blizzard never uses them for any kind of identification.
1 account didnt have any other connection with the rest than just IP. As said never botted, never hacked/exploited, never bought or sold gold, or did anything against their rules, and still got banned.
1. Never use same name as any other account 2. you can use multiple bots on same vpn1 and same computer, but they can get banned. 3. if your selling gold, make sure that the toon depositing the gold to the guild bank is on seperate vpn2, and toon selling the guild is on vpn3
Not completely accurate. They constantly monitor IPs associated with accounts as part of their "security" protocol. That's why if you log in from a different IP, it asks you to change your password. And I am not sure if anyone fully knows what, exactly, they are looking at as part of the way they associate authenticator type accounts. Anyhow, all the speculation in the world isn't going to change the fact that most of this is triggered by specific use.
Bliz may not do an investigation into multiple accounts using the same IP at different times, BUT I would certainly think that 10+ accounts using the same IP at any one time certainly is something that's going to get their attention and be cause for a targeted ban wave. It's not like dual boxing where 2 or 3 toons are working together as a team... when you have 10+ toons doing their own things in different part of the world, all on the same box... please... I just wonder why it takes Bliz so long to target them and cut them off. Note: I am NOT saying that this is exactly what you have done... you haven't provided enough details for us to know for sure if they were all on the same box, but you said IP ban which kinda sounds like they were. If that's the case and you were running 10+ bots on the same computer, are you really surprised that they got banned?
They don't.... They ask you to change password if you log in from a different country, not just from a different IP. Otherwise it'd be asking me to change passwords almost daily (I have 2 internet connections on a load balancer. Hence I log in from a different IP when the load balancer decides it's time to put some load on the other connection), and it doesn't.
I don't see how that statement is true either. I have logged in from another ISP and it has prompted me to change the password. Sorry, but that is not accurate information. And not to mention, if you have ever spoke to a blizzard represenative they can tell you what IPS you have signed in from. So they do, indeed, associate IPs ( ISP along with IP ) with accounts.
Obviously IP's are tracked. If you use an authenticator and login from a different IP from the previous login, it always asks you for your authenticator code. I know this because a friend and I use each other's accounts on our mains and every time we login on the other's account, we have to get the auth code from the other guy. So IP's are obviously tracked given that data.
That's just wrong information you're telling. They DO ask you to change password / auth code if you login from another IP, even within the same town!!!
that's wrong too if u don't advance your answer with "from another IP from a different ISP I can logon without problems by my neighbour (same isp) I have to change when logging in from my girlfriends IP (another ISP)
The overall point is the same, though. They know. Don't ever fool yourself or be told that they don't monitor such things. I will still say that the majority of accounts get banned because of your individual use. For every one who gets banned there are alot more people who play *smart* and never have an issue.
I've called up to get my account recovered from being "compromised" and the guy sent me a password reset, I used my proxy to reset it and the guy noticed it was a diff location and started asking me 20 questions about the account and details, finally told me that yeah I used a weird IP to change the PW reset he sent and he had to confirm I was really the owner.. so yeah even the phone guys watch IP while you're talking to them lol, now on I usually say I'm at work and I'll do it when I get home etc I used proxy since US tracked my home IP and I was on an account that wasnt mine (bought it), more so after each compromise I'd switch proxies anyway so next time around it'd be compromised again instead of banned.. either way I learned to start googling the mailing addresses on accounts that I didnt have, more than not you will find google can figure out the exact address without the stars (which is how I verified to the phone rep that I was owner - lol) I've also had a vanilla account banned for hacking into another account, which the other account was actually one i bought that I got compromised, but since my vanilla had a DIFFERENT proxy (all proxy = hackers according to phone rep) they told me that my vanilla hacked into my other account and it was being banned for illicit activities, while my other account was simply "call up and unlock" So ya they watch IPs, link IPs etc.
I was botting in the uk. Came to the usa continuing botting. Got a permabanhammer. Sent message to blizz saying "wtf, I got hacked.. bla bla bla!!!!!!1". They said ok sir sorry, we just unbanned you. Before logging back to my unbanned account i created a trial account on a different email. As soon as i log in, boom ban! Created another account, boom ban! So I just found and info on out how to release my external ip into the pool and reset my router. Checked with whatismyip that my ip changed created a new trial account boom NO ban So shut up those who say ip is nothing to do with the bans
