I know there is a sticky already showing how you can run HB in a VM, I was however wondering if it is at all possible to run HB in Wine along with WoW.
Well i've been doing some testing. - Wow will run in VirtualBox, but HonorBuddy won't - WoW will run very well in Wine but HonorBuddy won't because the version of .Net needed for HonorBuddy cannot be installed in Wine at the moment. Which leads me to some cross-platform solutions: - Rewrite HonorBuddy so it is fully coded in .Net 2.0 so it will run in Wine - Rewrite HonorBuddy in C++ I appreciate these will more than likely never happen to support the 10+ linux/mac users wanting HonorBuddy support but if more people appreciate the botting potential of Linux there will be a viable business reason for BossLand and Tony to look at this. So, get on Linux, get playing opening multiple instances of WoW and be amazed at how well Linux handles the loads! Post your experiences below.
vmware is iffy, it actually depends on your workstations video card, etc. I'm stuck dual booting to get wow on this machine.
I can't get VMware to run 3DSupport on my video card, it just crashes when WoW is run. I'm also asking myself why sacrifice performance running WoW in a VM when it runs so well in wine.
dduuhhh... U can install .net linux under wine use simple : Winetricks / http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks But good point, linux handels load much beter that win$, it's multitrading, multiuser, specc'd OS. / but i know suse 11.3 come standart white .net mono 2.5 <<<< is normal microsoft owns suse / novell. Am a Red Hat - Centos 5.4 users : A'm willing to test and put some time on it if it posible to get honorbuddy running under linux. It my daytime job to work white linux.....12 hours a day LOL.
Only .Net 2.0 seems to install fully, and HonorBuddy won't run on 2.0. Thanks for the friendly advice though but back to the drawing board.
It would be interesting to see what Bossland, Tony, and Hawker's view on linux is and if future versions will increase compatibility with wine.
i doubt that a linux version will come. i believe it's been asked before and was declined. but you can always use vmware for linux with windows on it
